MANCHESTER - Walter O. Longden, 74, of Maple Street, died Sunday at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. He was born in Syracuse, N.Y., the son of Walter and Bertha (Jackson) Longden. He was raised in East Syracuse, N.Y., and lived in Manchester for many years. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the Korean conflict. Longden worked as a mechanic for the former Kilgus Pontiac-Cadillac and later Frank Yanco Pontiac-Cadillac for 20 years. He later worked at Burger King in Manchester. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Laurette (Boisvert) Longden of Manchester; two sons, James Longden of Hooksett and Richard Longden of Manchester; two daughters, Diane VanLeer of Hooksett and Margaret Therrien of Manchester; four brothers, Richard Longden, Robert Longden, Arthur Longden and Harold Longden, all of Syracuse, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Two sons died previously, Paul Longden in 1956 and Julien Longden in 2000. Calling hours will not be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Church in Franklin. ALEXANDRIA - Richard L. Baston, 67, of McMurphy Road, died Monday at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. He was born in Sanford, Maine, the son of Gerald and Evelyn (Hall) Baston. He worked for the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative Inc. for more than 14 years before retiring in 2001. Baston enjoyed woodworking, golfing and skiing. Survivors include his wife, Lisa (Bleau) Baston of Alexandria; a son, Bryce Baston of Sanford, Maine; three daughters, Stacey Baston of Concord, Stephyne Reid of Waterboro, Maine, and Allison Baston of Alexandria; a brother, Roger Baston of Sanford, Maine; a sister, Cynthia Lawrence of Sanford, Maine; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. FRANKLIN - Mary C. Knott, 85, of West Bow Street, died yesterday at Mountain Ridge Genesis Eldercare in Franklin after a period of failing health. She was born in Boston, the daughter of Maurice and A. Bertha (Corcoran) Moriarty. She was raised in Durham and later moved to Franklin in 1956. She attended the University of New Hampshire in Durham. Knott worked as a homemaker and for the former Lynch Clothing Stores in Franklin and Laconia. She was a communicant of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Franklin. She served as a Girl Scout leader in Franklin for many years and as neighborhood chairperson. She enjoyed walking. Survivors include a son, Thomas Knott of Amherst; two daughters, Bonnie Knott of Franklin and Kathryn Knott-Garon of New Hampton; a brother, Thomas Moriarty of Durham; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Her husband of 50 years, Everett Knot Jr., died in 1993; and two brothers, Maurice Moriarty and Joseph Moriarty, died previously. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in William F. GILFORD - Nancy Moser, 70, of Dinsmoore Point Road, died yesterday at her home. She was born in Manchester, the daughter of Charles and Effie (Blakeney) Morse. She graduated from Pembroke Academy in 1950 and earned a degree in English literature from Brown University in 1954. She was raised in Hooksett and lived in New Jersey for many years before moving to Gilford in 1988. Moser was a member of the choir at Methodist Church in Weehawken, N.J., Brown University and Pembroke Academy; a member of the Tenafly (N.J.) Community Theatre, the Wesley Players Community Theatre in Gilford and the Thompson-Ames Historical Society in Gilford; volunteered at the Bergen Pines (N.J.) Hospital, the Lakes Region General Hospital and Community Health and Hospice in Laconia; and served as board member of the Streetcar Company Community Theatre in Laconia, where she acted and served as stage manager. She enjoyed cooking and crossword puzzles. Survivors include two sons, Charles Moser of Mason and Robert Moser of Fogelsville, Pa.; two daughters, Susan Siebels of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Sarah Taylor of South Newfane, Vt.; a sister, Patricia Nix of Naples, Fla.; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mary Colton, 91, of Gilmore Street, Concord, died Tuesday at his home after a period of failing health. She was born in Boston, Mass., the daughter of William and Jane (Somerson) Linton. She was raised in Antrim and lived in Wilbraham, Mass., and Hobe Sound, Fla., before returning to New Hampshire nine years ago. She graduated from Springfield (Mass.) Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for more than 40 years. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Henry Colton of Concord; a son, Fred Colton of South Orleans, Mass.; a daughter, Mary Colton of Concord; a sister, Edna Curtis of Oceanside, Calif.; and a granddaughter. Three sisters died previously. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. GOFFSTOWN - Carl Morris Hecker, 86, of Elm Street, died Wednesday at Manchester Hospital. He was born in Manchester, the son of Frederick and Emily (Wiesner) Hecker. He lived in Goffstown for the past 50 years. He graduated from Manchester West High School and Dartmouth College in 1938. Hecker worked operating Hecker Grocery Store in Manchester, which his grandfather started, until the 1950s. He later worked for R.P. Bouroughs of Manchester for 10 years and as a data processing analyst for the State of New Hampshire Personnel and Education Department. He was a member of the Piscatasquag River Watershed Association, the Goffstown Historical Society and Goffstown Budget Committee; served as chairman of the Goffstown School Board; was founder of the Goffstown Junior Baseball team; and was active with the Goffstown Cub Scouts and Goffstown Boy Scouts programs. His wife of 60 years, Georgette Hecker, died in February. Survivors include three sons, Peter Hecker and Richard Hecker, both of Dunbarton, and Frederick Hecker of Campton; a sister, Ann Hastings of Manchester; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. BELMONT - Robert E. Bordeau, 82, of School Street, died Tuesday at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia after a short illness. He was born in Laconia, the son of Jason and Florence (Edgley) Bordeau. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He lived in Laconia and Gilmanton for many years before moving to Belmont 45 years ago. Bordeau worked for the Belmont Hosiery Mill, the Belmont Highway Department, the Lund Ski Factory from 1937 to 1941 and for Scott and Williams from 1941 to 1944. He served on the school board and the budget committee for the town of Belmont; was a member of the Belmont American Legion Post; a life member of the Retired Firefighters; a founder of the Lakes Region Mutual Aide; served as fire chief for the town of Belmont from 1964 to 1984; and was a member of the Belmont Fire Department for 37 years, where he later volunteered. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara (Bushey) Bordeau of Belmont and the Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia; two sons, Carlton Bordeau of Laconia and James Bordeau of Belmont; a daughter, Patricia Kratzer of Laconia; a sister, Margaret Hoag of Spring Hill, Fla.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. NASHUA - Dorothy Buck, 74, of Beaver Street, died Wednesday after a short illness. She was born in Concord, the daughter of Lawrence and Clara (Audette) Philbrick. She graduated from Concord High School. She lived in Manchester before moving to Nashua in 1967. She worked for New England Telephone in Concord and later in Nashua for many years, and as a switchboard operator for St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua before retiring. Buck was an avid candlepin bowler, and enjoyed trips to Foxwoods and playing bingo. She was a member of many leagues at Leda Lanes in Nashua. Survivors include two sons, David Buck of Bedford and Gerald Hickox of Waltham, Mass.; two daughters, Betty Jane Gault of Litchfield and Judy Paprzyck of Nashua; seven brothers, Lawrence Philbrick, Edward Philbrick, Jack Philbrick and Harry Philbrick, all of Concord, Albert Philbrick of Northfield, Robert Philbrick of Sun City, Calif., and Gerard Philbrick of Gulfport, Miss.; a sister, Barbara Miner of Concord; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. DADE CITY, Fla. - Stuart Wayne Cady Sr., 77, formerly of Concord, died Sunday. He was born in Glover, Vt., the son of Renphrew and Ava (Bead) Cady. He lived in Raymond and Concord before moving to Dade City, Fla. He summered in Alfred, Maine. He worked as a professor teaching electrical engineering and computer science at the New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord and Franklin Pierce College before retiring. Cady was a member of the Bradford UCC Church in Zephyrhills, Fla., and served as a deacon while attending church in Concord and Alfred, Maine. He was a member of the Estes Lakes Association in Alfred, Maine, the Board of Governors of the Maine Lakes Association, the Northeast Search and Rescue Team and the Board of Governors of the Maine Association of Search and Rescue. He was also a past master and 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 99 in Raymond. He enjoyed time with his dogs, Nicki and Tasha. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a son, Stuart Cady Jr. of Lyme; three daughters, Pamela Spain of Concord, Deborah Pore of Springvale, Maine, and Melissa Manseau of Scarborough, Maine; many brothers and sisters, including Chester Cady of Deerfield; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Michael T. Sorrenty, 67, of Auburn Street in Concord died yesterday at Concord Hospital. He was born in Concord, the son of James and Philamena (Bruno) Sorrenty. He graduated from St. John's High School in 1953. Sorrenty was a store manager for First National Stores in Laconia for 30 years. He was also employed at United Shoe for more than 15 years and for Constantly Pizza in Concord. He was an active alumni of the Boys and Girls Club. He was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Marilyn (Bordeau) Sorrenty; three sons, Michael Sorrenty, Stephen Sorrenty and Paul Sorrenty, all of Concord; two daughters, Kim Sorrenty and Cheryl McCann, both of Concord; a sister, Mary Ann Hilton of Lynn, Mass.; 15 grandchildren; and an aunt.
