LA CROSSE, Kan. - Walter F. Jordan Jr., 66, died Saturday in La Crosse, Kan. He was born in Concord, the son of Walter and Clara (Peace) Jordan Sr. He lived in McCracken, Kan., for five years before moving to La Crosse, Kan., 13 years ago. Jordan served as a drill sergeant at Fort Bennington, Ga. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, OCC MED GER, AFLSA, AFR and the Indiana Military Volunteer Emblem. Survivors include his parents of Franklin; three sons, Richard Zeleneck of San Antonio, Texas, Walter Jordan and Steven Jordan, both of La Crosse, Kan.; four daughters, Shaun Zeleneck of San Antonio, Texas, Brenda Utterbrock of Missouri, Lynda Jordan of Texas and Tracy Jordan of Arizona; four brothers, Robert Waldo of Andover, David Waldo of Franklin, Bob Waldo of Rutherton, N.C., and Richard Waldo of England; four sisters, Dorothy Chouinard of Concord, Sheila Kilbourne of Fayetteville, N.C., Jean Bruco of North Carolina and Lorraine Brusseau of Spinder, N.C.; a stepbrother, Ernest Fredette of Franklin; and 12 grandchildren. Memorial services were held yesterday at the New Covenant Fellowship Church in La Crosse, Kan. Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, Kan., is in charge of the arrangements.

LACONIA - Conrad P. Teele, 81, of Wellington Drive died Tuesday at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. He was born in Waltham, Mass., the son of Nicholas and Mildred (Dicks) Teele. He served in the Army during World War II and served in the 407th Infantry Regiment as a machine gunner in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was a member of the light machine gun squad. He was wounded during the war and received the Bronze Star in 2001. He was formerly of Sprucewood Drive in Gilford before moving to Laconia. Teele worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Newtonville, Mass., for 28 years, retiring in 1987. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church in Lakeport. He was a member of the Friends of the Gilford Library and a life member of the D.A.V. and the American Legion Wilkins Smith Post No. 1 in Laconia. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Catherine (Burbank) Teele of Laconia; two sons, Kenneth Teele of Seattle and Michael Teele of New York; two daughters, Paula Baer of Laconia and Catherine Baker of Parker, Colo.; a sister, Avis Connelly of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two nieces and a nephew. A daughter, Karen Walsh, died in 1989. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington St., Lakeport. The Rev. George Soberick, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be held in the spring at the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery in Gilford. NASHUA - Anna C. Berube, 92, of Harris Road died Sunday at the Greenbriar Terrace HealthCare. She was born in Nashua, the daughter of Frank and Ozilia (Levesque) Ouellette. She was a lifelong resident of Nashua and was formerly of Temple Street She attended schools in Nashua. Berube worked for JF McElwain Show Co. for many years before retiring. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Cadieux of Nashua; four sons, Dennis Berube of Concord, Maurice Berube of Nashua, Ralph Berube of Bethel, Maine, and Philip Berube of Chicopee, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Elsie E. Lacross, 80, of Concord died Tuesday at Concord Hospital. She was the daughter of Bernard and Elsie (Kemp) Stevens. Survivors include three sons, Kevin Lacross of Boscawen, and Barry Lacross and Bradley Lacross, both of Concord; a daughter, Sheila Angwin of Concord; a brother, Bernard Stevens Jr. of Corinth, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Her husband, Albert Lacross, died previously. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Blossom Hill Cemetery. PENACOOK -Donald J. Stone, 61, died yesterday at home after a short illness. He was born in Canterbury, the son of Philip and Marguereit (Jordan) Stone. He lived in Penacook for the past 39 years. He graduated from Penacook High School in 1960. Stone served in the Army Corps of Engineers for three years. He worked for the state of New Hampshire Department of Transportation for 32 years and at Beaver Meadow Golf Course in Concord, where he worked on the fairways. He also did snow removal for D. David and Sons during the winter. He was active in Penacook sports in the 1970s, coaching the PYC Little League team in the Concord Northeast division for many years and the ICB Basketball team in the Merrimack Valley Youth Basketball League. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his dog, Max. Survivors include his wife, Janet (Chase) Stone of Penacook; two sons, Donald Stone Jr. of Boscawen and Mark Stone of Penacook; a daughter, Martha Stone of Penacook; two brothers, Philip Stone Jr. of Canterbury and Douglas Stone of Contoocook; a sister, Brenda Lakin of Warren; four grandchildren, Benjamin and Molly Stone of Boscawen, and Daniel and Kacey Stone of Penacook; and many nieces and nephews. BOW - John A. Pepin, 54, of Pinecrest Drive died Wednesday at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a sudden illness. He was born in Concord, the son of Ralph and Rose (Gaudreault) Pepin. He graduated from Concord High School in 1966. He earned a bachelor's degree in zoology from the University of New Hampshire in 1971. He co-owned and operated Pepin Brothers Construction for 15 years. Pepin worked for the State of New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services for eight years, then at New Hampshire Distributors for 15 years. He coached baseball and basketball for the Bow Athletic Club for many years. In 1998 he was recognized for "Outstanding Service for Youth Sports in Bow." He was also a longtime member of the Concord Elks Lodge No. 1210. Survivors include his mother; his wife of 32 years, Lorraine (Twombly) Pepin of Bow; a son, Gregory Pepin of Dover; two daughters, Kimberly Pepin of Newmarket and Jessica Pepin of Bow, and nieces and nephews. EPSOM - John Edwin Grierson, 49, passed away Thursday. He was born in Victoria, Texas, the son of John and Beulah (Thorpe) Grierson. He graduated from Pembroke Academy and attended the Thompson School at the University of New Hampshire. He worked as a truck driver for Agway in Epsom for 20 years, then for Webber Fuels and Eastern Propane Gas. He retired in 1999. He enjoyed hiking and fishing. He lived with ALS for the last five and a half years, eventually communicating only through his smile. Survivors include his mother, Beulah Grierson Yeaton of Epsom; his wife, Judi Flewelling Grierson of Epsom; a son, Jay Grierson of Nucla, Colo., two daughters, Heidy (White) Bostic of North Pole, Ala., and Kamela Grierson of Epsom; two brothers, R. Stewart Yeaton and William Yeaton, both of Epsom; six grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. His fathers, John Grierson and Robert Yeaton, died previously. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Chichester Congregational Church. Norma B. Faretra, 80, of Concord, died Thursday at Concord Hospital. She was born in Tilton, the daughter of Louise (Towbridge) Bowlby. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Philip Martin and later for Dr. Eugene Hulshult. She was a member and past president of the New Hampshire Dental Association and a lifelong member of the National Dental Association. Survivors include a cousin, David Gowans of Ohio; her caregivers, Elaine Fregosi of Concord and Debbie, Craig and Taylor Drouin of Concord; two nephews, Tom and Scott Atherton of Concord; and several step-grandchildren. HOPKINTON - Richard L. Tompkins, 81, of Narrowsburg, N.Y., and a longtime resident of Hartsdale, N.Y., died Friday at his daughter's home in Hopkinton. He was born in Yonkers, N.Y., the son of Frederick and Leah (Munson) Tompkins. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a colonel during World War II and received a Purple Heart. He worked as a state police officer in Westchester County, N.Y., for the Parkway Police. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and belonged to the Bear Swamp Hunting Club and the Beaver Brook Rod and Gun Club. Survivors include a son, Richard Tompkins Jr. of White Plains, N.Y.; two daughters, Mary Jane Devine of Hopkinton, Mass., and Patricia Tompkins of Hopkinton; and seven grandchildren. BOSCAWEN - Phyllis E. Weed, 89, formerly of Potter Place, died yesterday at the Merrimack County Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born in Andover, the daughter of Beatrice Weed, and graduated from Proctor Academy in Andover. For many years she owned and operated the Riverside Store in Potter Place with her mother. She was a waitress for many years at the Twin Lake Villa in Springfield and the Edgewood Inn in New London After her retirement, she worked for her friend, Norman Leger, of the New London Barn Players. She enjoyed playing the organ, spending time with her family and cooking for the New London Barn Players and attending plays. She is survived by two sons, Sibley H. Weed and Keith E. Weed, both of Concord; a daughter-in-law, Madeline Weed of Concord; four grandchildren, Melinda Harrison of Concord, Michael Weed of Contoocook, Heather Hughes of Manchester and Sarah Kozlowski of Rye; three great-grandchildren and two nieces. Her brother, Ralph Weed of Florida, died previously. There will be no calling hours, and burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date. Geneva E. Satterfield, 91, of Concord died Monday at Harris Hill Nursing Home. She was born in Machiasport, Maine, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Johnson) Crocker. She graduated from Grays Business College in Portland, Maine, and Washington Academy in East Machias, Maine. She was a longtime resident of Concord. She worked as a bookkeeper for Merrimack Farmers Exchange for 25 years. Satterfield was a former member of the Concord Country Club and Beaver Meadow and past president of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Amateurs Organist International and the Wesley United Methodist Church of Concord. She was an avid golfer. Survivors include two sisters, Katherine Richards and Helen Hale, both of Maine; and three nieces and nephews. Her husband of 61 years, John Satterfield, and a sister, Virginia Bunker, died previously. Calling hours will not be held. NORTHFIELD - Ellen Elizabeth Maxwell, 92, of Summer Street died Monday at Mountain Ridge Center Genesis Elder Care in Franklin after a long illness. She was born in Durham, Maine, the daughter of William and Ellen (Fox) Street. She was raised in Durham, Maine, and lived in the Franklin-Tilton area for many years. She lived in Wolfeboro before moving to Northfield in 1965. She graduated from Lisbon Falls (Maine) High School and earned a degree in registered nursing from Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in Lewiston, Maine, in 1934. Maxwell worked as a private registered nurse and as a school district nurse for Tilton-Northfield for many years. She also worked as night nurse for Shaker Village for many years. She was a longtime member of the Lochmere Baptist Church, where she taught Bible study classes. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Ralph Maxwell Sr. of Northfield; four sons, the Rev. Ralph Maxwell Jr. of Peterborough, Donald Maxwell of Naples, Fla., James Maxwell of Hudson and Bruce Maxwell of Rocky Hill, Conn.; a daughter, Phyllis Murray of Lee; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
