Harold P. Estabrook Jr., 78, of Concord, died yesterday at Harris Hill Nursing Home. He was born in Philadelphia, the son of Harold and Anna (Magnuson) Estabrook. He graduated from Concord High School in 1943. He attended Keene Teachers College and the University of New Hampshire. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and served on the USS Arkansas in Normandy. He worked as a draftsman for John Swenson Granite Co. and Swenson Building Granite Co. in Concord and at Fletcher's Granite in Chelmsford, Mass. He retired from Moliterno Stone in Providence, R.I. He was a member of the Independent Order of Vikings, serving as the financial secretary for 38 years. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 21 in Concord. Survivors include a son, Harold Estabrook III of Epsom; and three grandchildren, Alex, Meghan and Gabriel Estabrook, all of Epsom. His wife, Frances Melia Estabrook, died in 1982; a sister, Barbara Estabrook Dyment, died in 1998; and a companion, Mildred Smith, died in 2000. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Paul Lamoureux of the Concordia Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, 54 Portsmouth St., Concord.
Beatrice E. Whiting, GILFORD

GILFORD - Beatrice E. Whiting, 99, formerly of Breton Road, died Saturday at the Merrimack County Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since March. She was born in Plymouth, the daughter of James and Mey (Avery) Batcheldor. She lived in Plymouth until 1942, when she moved to Laconia. During World War II, she worked as a press operator at the Tekewood Mill in Lakeport. After the war, she resumed her life as a homemaker. In 1948, she moved to Breton Road in Gilford. Later, Whiting was a resident of Pine Rock Manor in Warner for 12 years. For many years, she raised vegetable and flower gardens, as well as a raspberry patch. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley (Whiting) Blake of Danville, Va., and a granddaughter. A son, Leslie Whiting, died in 1974, and her husband, Clayton Whiting, died in 1980. Calling hours will not be held. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Blair Cemetery in Campton. Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home in Laconia is in charge of the arrangements.

PEMBROKE - Emily (Binger) Cooper, 46, of Broadway, died Wednesday at home. She was born in Princeton, N.J., the daughter of Bronson Binger and Susan Storck Binger. She lived in Concord and Tilton before moving to Pembroke in 1990. She graduated from the Putney School in Vermont in 1974 and earned a bachelor's of science degree in engineering from the University of Rochester in 1980. She worked as a mechanical engineer for Dresser Industries. She had also worked for Whering Engineering and as an environmental paralegal for Rath, Young & Pignatelli in Concord. From 2000 to 2003, she served as a career counselor for Pembroke Academy. She was a member of the Pembroke budget committee. Survivors include her mother, of New York City; her father, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters, Lucie Spieler of Coral Gables, Fla., and Sarah James of Sheffield, Mass.; a brother, Walter Binger of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Aug. 11 at 3 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Pembroke. The Rev. Dan Stauffacher, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at the Church of the Heavenly Rest in New York City. The Petit Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of the arrangements.

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Graveside services for Roderic A. Call, 70, formerly of Contocook, will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Contocook Village Cemetery. Call, 70, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died March 2, 2001, at the St. Lucie Medical Center. He was born in Concord, the son of Everett and Helen (Mansur) Call. He lived in Contoocook for many years before moving to Florida. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Masonic Blue Lodge No. 366, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He is survived by three sons, Roderic Call II of Boynton Beach, Fla., Michael Call Sr. of Odessa, Fla., and Brian Call of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a daughter, Jerri Lyn Veber of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Barbara Goodhue of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, Nathan Call of Chesapeake Beach, Md.; and nine grandchildren. Nellie Clara Adams, 87, died at Concord Hospital after complications from a fall. She was born in Thornton, the daughter of Albert and Edith (Downing) Merrill. Most of her life was spent in West Thornton. She lived at Prince Haven in Plymouth, where she organized many trips for residents before moving to the Odd Fellows Home - now Presidential Oaks - in Concord. She graduated from Woodstock High School and Concord Business School. She worked as a cook in several restaurants in the Thornton/Plymouth area. She was active in several churches and was a member of the Thornton United Methodist Church. She was also active in the Grange, including the state Juvenile Grange, as well as the Rebekahs. She is survived by two sisters, Alice Downing of Meredith and Elizabeth Frye of Exeter. Her husband, Fred Adams, as well as four brothers and three sisters died previously. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Thornton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Margaret Bickford officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Thornton United Methodist Church. KEENE - Dorothy R. Ball, 87, formerly of Castle Street, died Saturday at Langdon Place following a period of failing health. She was born in Dummerston, Vt., the daughter of George and Jessie (Nash) Gassett. She lived in Keene for many years. In her earlier years, she was employed at the Palmer Lodge, Valley Green Motel and then at the Winding Brook Lodge. She had been retired for many years. She was a member and former deacon of the United Church of Christ in Keene, the Ladies Fellowship and the Saturday Supper Club. She had been a member of the Keene Senior Citizens, the Friends of the Keene Public Library, Retired Senior Volunteer program and the Audubon Society. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Moose in Keene. Her husband, Theodore Ball, died in 1981. A brother, Harry Gassett, also died previously. She is survived by two sons, Michael Ball of Marlborough and Kenneth Ball of Bow; one daughter, Marie Paoletta of Walpole; one sister, Margaret Renzelman of Alstead; and seven grandchildren. A remembrance service will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene. Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Keene. Burial will be private. GILMANTON - William "Bill" T. Lavoie, 52, of Stevens Road, died Saturday at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston. He was born in Nashua, the son of Normand and Ethel (Houle) Lavoie. He had been a resident of Gilmanton since 1987. He built and restored horse-drawn carriages and antique boats. He restored the cannon that is on the Plymouth Common in Plymouth. He also had been a construction superintendent and taught human psychology for the adult education program at Laconia High School. He is survived by his wife, Dianne (Bassett) Lavoie of Candia; his mother, Ethel St. Onge of Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, Ronald Lavoie of Laconia; and a half-brother, Michael St. Onge of Cape Coral, Fla. LENOX, Mass. - James Logan Stedfast, 71, died July 18 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla., after a brief illness. He was born in Cambridge, Mass., the son of Charles and Marion Stedfast. He graduated from Belmont (Mass.) Hill High School and Nichols Junior College. Stedfast worked in the building material and home improvement industry until retirement. He enjoyed golf, landscaping, animals and cooking. Survivors include six daughters, Sandra Marshall of Tilton, Julie Johnson of Ashland, Mass., Cary Chapin of Franklin, Jami Girard of Bedford, Kimberly Cullen of Northfield and Amie Haskell of Longmeadow, Mass.; 14 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. His parents and a brother, Philip Stedfast, died previously. Visiting hours will not be held. Private graveside services will be held at Belmont Cemetery, in Belmont, Mass. CONCORD - Clarice M. Harmon, 82, of Warren St., died Tuesday at the Hospice House in Concord. She was born in Cleveland, the daughter of James and Lillian (Evans) Clark. She grew up and attended schools in Salem, Mass. Harmon was a longtime resident of Nashua. She also live in Paris, Ark., before moving to Concord eight years ago. She worked as a nurse's aid, including several years at the Greenbriar Nursing Home in Nashua. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Survivors include two sons, Milo Harmon and Roy Harmon, both of Concord; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a few nieces and nephews. Calling hours will not be held. ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - Edward "Ted" William Bryson, 68, died May 4 in Zephyrhills, Fla., after a period of failing health. He was born in Franklin, the son of Louis and Florence (Jordon) Bryson. He attended Franklin schools and served with the U.S. Marine Corps. Bryson worked as a meat cutter. He also worked at the Arwood Corp. in Northfield, Lakeport Landing, Laconia Water Co. and Marcoux Heating and Plumbing in Laconia. He lived in Gilmanton for many years before moving to Florida in 1989. He was Roman Catholic. He was a member of both the Laconia and the St. Petersburg, Fla., Elks lodges. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Shirley (Champagne) Bryson of Zephyrhills, Fla.; two sons, Donald Bryson of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Dennis Bryson of Singapore; four brothers, Philip Bryson of Tilton, Raymond Bryson of Franklin, Dennis Bryson of Ashland and Louis Bryson of Laconia; two sisters, Ruth Richardson of Woodstock and Esther Cote of Ashland City, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Gerald and Jack Bryson, and a sister, Dorothea Alpaugh, died previously. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the William F. GILFORD - Regina F. Dionne, 71, of Sargent Place, died yesterday at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. She was born in New Britain, Conn., the daughter of Raymond and Yvonne (Dutile) Fortin. She lived in Dover, then in the Lakes Region for 54 years. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Laconia. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Norman Dionne of Gilford; two sons, Gary Dionne of Laconia and Mark Dionne of Gilford; a daughter, JoAnn Dionne of Portsmouth; a sister, Muriel Guilmette of Gilford; three grandchildren; two nephews and four nieces. Her parents and a brother, Richard Fortin Sr., died previously. Calling hours will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home in Laconia.
