MANCHESTER - Robinson C. Frost Jr., 71, died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born in Manchester, the son of Robinson Frost Sr. and Bessie Curtis. A lifelong resident of Manchester, he graduated from New Hampton High School and from St. Anselm College in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He was employed by Electropac as a purchaser for 20 years and retired last year. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Janet Frost; a son, David Frost of Bow; and two grandchildren. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St. Memorial services will be held at the funeral home following calling hours. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchester. The Rev. Christopher Emerson will officiate. ALLENSTOWN - Clifford Eastman, 73, formerly of Cross Street, died yesterday at Lakes Region General Hospital. He was born in Vershire, Vt., the son of Mark Eastman and Agnes Root. He worked and lived in the Concord area for most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received the World War II Victory Medal, Navy Occupational Medal Japan and China Service Medal. He was employed as a landscaper for Brochu Nursery and as a cab driver for Checker Cab Co. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Francis (Bassett) Eastman; four sons, Larry Eastman of Crystal River, Fla.; Johnny Eastman of Tilton, Jeffrey Eastman of Melbourne, Fla., and David Eastman of Laconia; four daughters, Debbie Maxfield, Beth Vitagliano, Ginger Eastman and Tara Eastman, all of Concord; three stepsons, Butch Bickford of Concord, Dickie Bickford of Loudon and Danny Bickford of Franklin; two stepdaughters, Barbie Labrie of Franklin and Debbie Wilson of Manchester; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Ronald Eastman, died previously. Calling hours will not be held. Graveside funeral services will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Contoocook Village Cemetery. Burial will follow the service.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Ronald Paul Knee II, 56, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Wednesday at his home after a sudden illness. He was born in Concord, the son of Ronald Sr. and Yvonne (Frennette) Knee. He attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and Rundlett Junior High School. He was a member of the Concord High Crimson Tide Football Team. He graduated from Concord High School in 1964 and from the Whittemore School of Business at the University of New Hampshire in 1968. He then received his masters degree in business. He was the editor of UNH's 1968 Granite Yearbook. Knee joined the National Guard after college. He was a Korean War veteran and retired as a Lt. Colonel in the Artillery Division. He moved to Florida in the '70s and owned Keystone Realty in Jacksonville. His interests included photography, travel, cooking, needlepoint, American history, world affairs, carpentry, poetry and poker. He enjoyed writing and performing comedy routines, traveling to North Carolina and New Hampshire, and fall foliage. Survivors include his father; his stepmother, Edith Knee of Concord; two daughters, Christine Dizon and Laura Knee, both of Atlanta; three sisters, Sylvia Hall of Port Charlotte, Fla., Paula Pelletier of San Diego, and Mary Knee of Concord; a stepbrother, Stanley Morono of New London; a stepsister, Karon Morono of Los Angeles; two grandsons; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. His mother died previously. The family is planning a fall memorial service.
James M. Landry, PEMBROKE

PEMBROKE - James M. Landry, 37, of Bow Lane, died Wednesday in Boston after a sudden illness. He was born in Milford, Mass., the son of Robert Sr. and Virginia (Green) Landry. He moved to Hooksett in 1968 and Pembroke in 1978. He graduated from Pembroke Academy in 1985. Although Landry was afflicted with heart problems from birth, he enjoyed his family and friends. He liked visiting Florida. He was an avid listener of all types of music and amassed a large collection of CDs and tapes. Survivors include his parents, of Pembroke; two brothers, Robert Landry Jr. of Concord and Steven Landry of Pembroke; and nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home in Concord. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Suncook. Madelaine W. Hyde, 88, of Christian Avenue in Concord, died yesterday at Havenwood Nursing Home. She was born in Somerville, Mass., the daughter of John and Effie (Gilchrist) Tilton. She graduated from Keene State College and was a teacher for many years, retiring from Conant School. Hyde was a member of the Pembroke Congregational Church and served as a member of the Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women, the Concord Education Association and the National Educational Association. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading. Survivors include two daughters, Maureen Rogers of Pembroke and Mary Ann York of Greenfield, Mass.; three grandchildren, including Katherine Rogers of Pembroke; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Leonard Hyde, died in 1955. Calling hours will be Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home chapel, 209 N. Main St., Concord. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. LACONIA - Elizabeth A. Morrissette, 88, formerly of Warren Street, died Thursday at the Mt. Ridge Center Genesis Eldercare Network in Franklin. She was born in Laconia, the daughter of Nelson and Emma (Collette) Mitchell. She was a lifelong resident of Laconia. Morrissette worked for 45 years at Cormier Hosiery Mill, retiring in 1980. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Savillia Morrissette of Laconia; two grandsons, Kevin Morrissette and Peter Morrissette, both of Laconia; and five great-grandchildren. Her husband, Wilfred Morrissette, died in 1945; and her son, Nelson Morrissette, died in 1996. Calling hours will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home in Laconia. LOCHMERE - Edna L. Granger, 79, of White Rock Circle, died Thursday at her daughter's home in Tilton. She was born in Petersburg, N.Y., the daughter of Leon and Flora (Church) Moon. She worked as the office manager of the Gunstock Ski Area in Gilford for 23 years, retiring in 1988. Granger was a member of the Eastern Star in Laconia and the Mayflower Society in Vermont. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, wildlife, flowers, and her cat, Dolly. Survivors include a daughter, Candace Cassavaugh of Tilton; four grandchildren, Lisa Bertrand of New Hampton, and Wayne Cassavaugh Jr., Toni-Jo Cassavaugh and Alison Cassavaugh, all of Tilton; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Bert Granger, died in 1986. Her brother, Keith Moon, also died previously. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, Laconia. WEBSTER - Charles "Chuck" H. Riley, 68, of Lake Road, died Saturday at home. He was born in Haverhill, Mass., the son of William and Blanche (Boshway) Riley. He graduated from Northwestern School of Taxidermy. He served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He worked as a forest ranger for the National Wildlife Department. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, kayaking and tending to his vegetable garden. Survivors include his wife, Frances (Bernard) Riley of Webster; a daughter, Charlene Southard of Maine; four brothers, Herbert Riley of Ossipee, Walter Riley of Florida, James Riley and Edward Riley, both of New York; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. A son, Eugene Riley, and two brothers, Robert Riley and William Riley, died earlier. Calling hours will not be held. A memorial service and celebration will be held at a later date. FRANKLIN - Shirley (Smytye) Doherty, 91, of Baldwin Street, died Friday at Franklin Regional Hospital. She was born in Franklin, the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy(Hancock) Smytye. She was salutatorian of Franklin High School in 1929 and also attended Rogers Hall, in Lowell, Mass., and Wellesley College. An avid golfer in her youth, she was a Mojalaki Country Club champion and runner-up at the New Hampshire Amateur Championships. She was an accomplished pianist, and was known for accompanying Handel's Messiah as well as playing for choral groups, soloists and musicians. For many years, she was the organist and pianist at the Unitarian Church of Franklin, where she was a lifelong member. She had served as a Red Cross volunteer and blood donor and a volunteer driver for cancer patients. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Abigail Webster Chapter of Franklin and, more recently, the Rumford-Abigail Webster Chapter of Concord. Survivors include three sons, Joel Doherty of Franklin, Alan Doherty of Sunapee and W. Burgess Doherty of Barrington; a sister, Nancy Manchester of Lisbon Falls, Maine; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Her husband of 60 years, William Doherty, died in 1998. Calling hours will not be held. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday in H.L. Young & Co. NORTHFIELD - Kathryn Shirley (Boyce) Duffett, 78, formerly of Northfield Village Apartments, died Saturday at the Mountain Ridge-Genesis Elder Care in Franklin. She was born in Franklin, the daughter of George and Jessie (Hines) Boyce. She spent her youth in Tilton and graduated from the Tilton School. She attended the Margaret Pillsbury School of Nursing in Concord and became a registered nurse. She lived in Concord for over 26 years before moving to her son's home in Hudson for six years. She moved to Northfield in 1990 and worked as a teacher's aide at the Union-Sanborn Elementary School in Northfield for several years. She was also active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Post 1698 in Franklin, and American Legion Post 49 in Northfield. Her husband of 31 years, Herbert Duffett, died in 1977. Survivors include a son, Garman Duffett of Merrimack; a daughter, Sandra Taillon of Franklin; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a sister, Faye Dow of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. WARREN - Doris M. Ball, 86, died yesterday after an extended illness. She was born in Gardner, Mass., the daughter of Florian and Delina (Joillett) Ledger. She worked as a medical records technician at the New Hampshire Home for the Elderly in Glencliff, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Warren Historical Society, served as town clerk and as secretary for the Warren selectmen, and was a Warren school board member. She was also a trustee of the Warren Medical Center, worked on community fund raisers to establish the St. John Vianney Chapel in Warren and was a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary. She was the first secretary of the State Employees Association. Survivors include four sons, Daniel Ball of Concord, Bert Ball of Warren, Edward Ball of Glencliff and Albert Ball of Orford; two daughters, Janice Sackett of Warren and Lorraine Bixby of North Haverhill; a brother, Clifford Ledger of North Brookfield, Mass.; and a sister, Thelma Couture of West Brookfield, Mass.; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Leslie Ball, died in 1995. A daughter, Alice Ball, a grandson and several brothers and sisters also died previously.
