Bonney L. Hudon

ROCHESTER - Bonney L. Hudon, 48, of 2 Gold Rush Lane, Rochester, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at her residence.

Born April 18, 1955, in Dover, she was the daughter of Arnold Chadwick and the late Jennie (Tyler) Chadwick. The Riverside Rest Home employed her until 2000, where she worked as a CNA. She attended First Parish United Church of Christ Congregational in Somersworth. She loved cross-stitching and crocheting. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed collecting carousels and cookie jars. She loved her family and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Hudon, of Rochester; her three daughters, Holly Rouleau of Rochester, Lacey Hudon of Lebanon and Bree Hudon of Rochester; one brother, Arnold Chadwick of Concord; two sisters, Sally White of Rochester, and Victoria Trafton of Rochester; two granddaughters; two stepgranddaughters; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at the First Parish United Church of Christ Congregational, Somersworth, with the Rev. Mark Rideout officiating. Arrangements are in the care of Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover.

Peter Kelsey

ELIOT, Maine - Peter W. Kelsey, 60, of Beech Road in Eliot, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Machias, Maine, on May 29, 1943, he was the son of Leon and Marie (Lowe) Kelsey and attended local schools, graduating from Jonesboro High School.

Following high school, he was accepted into the apprenticeship program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he worked at the shipyard for a number of years in shop No. 38 as an outside machinist, then as a general foreman in Nuclear Inspections, until his retirement.

In 1979 he met and married his loving wife of 24 years, Rachel (Caron) Kelsey, and made their home in Eliot, raising their family.

He will be remembered as a strong man of few words, who would help anyone in need. He was involved in a number of activities, and he enjoyed
mixed league and men’s bowling leagues at Bowl USA in Newington, golfing, and watching just about any sport, including being an avid Red Sox fan, as well as NASCAR racing and local racing at Beech Ridge Raceway.

He always enjoyed building anything from wood, from school desks for his children, to a fancy hutch. He could build it, and people would admire it.

His greatest love, however, was his family; his grandchildren played a big part in filling his heart with the joy only grandchildren can bring. He enjoyed time spent fishing with his grandson, Aaron, at "Spikey Back Pond," and just sitting reading with any of his grandchildren on his lap. He also enjoyed a large vegetable garden every year in the
back yard, spending time caring for it and watching his vegetables grow, so that they may be shared with many friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel (Caron) Kelsey, of Eliot; daughters Joni and her husband, Doug, Fallon of Eliot, and Carol Howard of Eliot; sons Joel Lehman of Hollywood, Fla., and Jared Lehman of Ft.
Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren Christina Fallon, Nichole Procaccini, Alison Procaccini, Aaron Howard, and Joanna Howard; a brother, Webster
and his wife, Marilyn, Kelsey of Kittery, and son-in-law and friend, Craig Howard. He was predeceased by his son, David Kelsey; and his brother Aaron Kelsey.

A funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at his church, the First Congregational Church of Eliot at 11 a.m., with a time of refreshment and sharing, to follow in the church fellowship hall. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine 03904.

Family flowers only, donations may be made in his memory to the Wentworth Homecare and Hospice, 113 New Rochester Rd., Suite 4, Dover, NH 03820. Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery.

Phyllis Leavitt

ELIOT, Maine - Phyllis L. Leavitt, 85, of Goodwin Road in Eliot died on Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Langdon Place, in Dover, N.H., following a period of declining health.

Born in Eliot, Maine, on Aug. 16, 1918, she was a daughter of Fred R. and Martha L. (Kramer) Leavitt. She attended local schools, graduating
from Eliot High School.

She was employed for many years at Westwind Gardens in Somersworth, N.H., working in the greenhouse, planting and caring for the plants, as well as arranging flowers. She also provided in-home care for a number of people in their homes in Eliot and the surrounding area.

She was an active member of her church, the Eliot United Methodist Church. She was a tireless worker in the thrift shop, the faith circle and hope circle. She was also a member of the Eliot Historical Society and the secret pal club of Brixham and Goodwin Roads in Eliot.

She will be missed by her loving family. They include her sisters, Ruth Richards of Eliot, Dorothy Blaisdell of Eliot, and Sylvia MacKay of Eliot; brothers, Lyndon Leavitt of Eliot, Norman Leavitt of Madison, and Robert Leavitt of Eliot; many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Wilfred, Laurence and Richard.

A funeral service will be held at her church, the Eliot United Methodist Church, Route 236, Eliot, on Thursday Oct. 2, 2003, at 3 p.m. No visiting hours, family flowers only please; donations may be made in her memory to her church. Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road. Kittery, Maine 03904.

Constance Yvonne Neilsen

BARRINGTON - Constance Yvonne Neilsen, 81, of Barrington, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at the Riverside Rest Home in Dover.

Born March 11, 1922, in Sanford, Maine, she was the daughter of Octave Michaud and Juliet (Baron) Michaud. She was a resident of Barrington since 1970. She taught craft making and ceramics. She also enjoyed making crafts at home and planting in her garden.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Charles E. Neilsen of Barrington; two daughters, Linda L. Joy of Somersworth and Veronica A. Winters of South Carolina; one brother, Robert Michaud of
California; one sister, Vivian Sargent of Portland, Maine; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one brother, Alphonse Michaud, and one sister, Rachel Gallant.

Family and friends may call from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, N.H. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Cole of St. Joseph’s Church officiating.

Larry Perkins
NEW DURHAM - Larason "Larry" T. Perkins, 75, of New Durham and Sarasota, Fla., died Sept. 9, 2003, in a Sarasota nursing home.

Born Aug. 9, 1928, he lived in Westwood, Mass. before moving to New Durham. He graduated in 1950, from Tufts College, and was employed by the Massachusetts Dept. of Public Works until 1985.

He leaves his wife, Lois; two sons, David of Strafford and Warren of Westwood, Mass.; a daughter, Joy Johnson of North Port, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Friends and acquaintances are invited to join the family and share memories of Larry in celebration of his life. They will gather at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at the Legion hall (formerly the Edgewood Restaurant) on Route 28 just north of the Alton, N.H., traffic circle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1501 N.W. 9th Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami, Fla. 33136-1494.

James Wynne

MIDDLETON, Mass. - James Austin Wynne, 84, of Middleton, died Saturday, Sept. 27, at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was the husband of Consuelo Thorndike Wynne, who he married July 2, 1946.

He was born Aug. 5, 1919, in Cambridge, Mass., and was a 1937 graduate of Boston Latin High School. He graduated from Columbia University in 1953. He was self-employed as a tax consultant. He lived in York, Maine, for many years, before moving to South Carolina, later to Virginia, and to Middleton.

He served as a 1st Lieutenant with the 3502nd AAF Base Unit of the Army Air Corps, and was a pilot during World War II, in which he flew dangerous missions over "The Hump," carrying aviation fuel over the Himalayas, to supply the Flying Tigers in China. In his later years, he wrote a book about his WWII experience. He was awarded a World War II Victory Medal, an American Theater Ribbon, and a Certificate of Meritorious Service.

He enjoyed golf, baseball, classical music, and history, and was fond of dogs and cats. He loved to talk to and visit with his many friends and loved ones.

He is survived by four children, John Wynne of Union, Maine, Richard Wynne of South Berwick, Maine, Paul Wynne of Lyman, Maine, Margaret Gray of Middleton; his sisters, Kay Lyon of Orange, Conn., and Lucille Olson of Medway, Mass.; his brother, Frank Wynne of Holden, Mass.; his grandchildren, Asher Wynne of Jamaica Plain, Mass., Aaron Wynne of South Berwick, and Molly Gray of Middleton; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Tess Flynn.

Memorial services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, at the Lucas and Eaton
Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York, Maine. Interment with military honors will follow in the First Parish Cemetery. Family flowers only.

Enez Candelari
BOCA RATON, Fla. - Enez Candelari, 88, of Boca Raton, Fla., died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003.

She was born in Berwick, Maine, and lived in Somersworth, N.H., until 1999, when she relocated to Boca Raton.

Survivors include her son, Charles A. Emerson; a grandson, Charles R. Emerson; as well as her great-grandchildren, Shaun and Christopher Emerson.

Graveside committal services will be held Wednesday at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Somersworth, with the Rev. Tom Coover officiating.

Roberge Funeral Home is in charge of the local arrangements.

Mildred Cooper

MONTICELLO, Fla. - Mildred Christina Cooper, 89, of Monticello, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, in Monticello.

Born in Chelsea, Mass., and a previous resident of Nottingham, N.H., she had lived in Monticello since 1996. She was a retired secretary of Alumni Funds after 24 years at the University of New Hampshire.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge 28 of Northwood and the Rebekah Assembly of New Hampshire. She was a past district deputy of the President’s Club and the Southern District past noble grand. She was also a member of the Crescent Chapter 45 Order of the Eastern Star of Northwood, and the American Legion Auxiliary 73 of Northwood. She was a past president of the Nottingham Women’s Club and a former member of the Great Falls Business and Professional Women’s Club.

She is survived by a grandson, Stephen Cooper and wife, Betty Jo, of Monticello; a great-grandson, Kody Cooper of Monticello; a daughter-in-law, Donna Cooper of Monticello; a sister-in-law, Callie Barlett of Rochester; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth A. Cooper; a son, Kenneth E. Cooper; and a granddaughter, Susan Cooper.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home in Newmarket, N.H. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Beggs Funeral Home, 485 E. Dogwood, Monticello, Fla. 32344.

Lauren Parker

ROCHESTER - Lauren E. Parker, Jr., 79, of Rochester, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born in Wakefield on Feb. 23, 1924, he was the son of Lauren E. and Evelyn F. (Morrill) Parker Sr. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Asia and Hawaii during World War II. He spent most of his career working as a weaver at Brooks Woolen in Sanford, Maine. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing.

Family members include his wife of 56 years, Rita (Boucher) Parker; two sons, Robert S. Parker of New Durham, and Albert E. Parker of Milton; three daughters, Ruth Brooks of Middleton, Kathleen Payeur of Danville, Vt., and Lois E. Parker of New Durham; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Philip Parker of Middleton, and Daniel Parker of Farmington; three sisters, Irene Albert of Dover, Elaine Jepsom of South Berwick, Maine, and June Twelves of California; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, Stanley Parker.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the home of Lois Parker, with a memorial service to follow at the New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery in Boscawen at 2 p.m.

The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Wells

DOVER - Thomas Roberts Wells, 84, of 91 Belknap St., died at home on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, after a prolonged illness.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 1, 1919, he was the only son of Dominique and Clara (Peterman) Wells. His hometown was Stony Brook, N.Y.

Orphaned at 8 years old, he went to live with his maternal uncle, Clifford Peterman and his wife, Oriette, also of Stony Brook.

After finishing Port Jefferson High School where he was the recipient of the "Most Valuable Student" for the Class of 1937, he entered Webb Institute of Naval Architecture and upon graduating in 1942, he entered World War II as an ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

On April 9, 1944, he wed Frances Harding of Orono, Maine.

He was stationed in Brooklyn Naval Shipyard until 1945 when he went to the U.S. Naval Operating Base in Trinidad, B.W.I. Following the war, he worked as a naval architect for Gibbs and Cox, Inc. in New York City until 1951 when he moved to Dover, N.H., to work in the design division of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1977.

He always enjoyed a talent in music and art and upon retirement he pursued these avenues. As a member of Dover Baptist Church since 1953, he participated in the choir as tenor soloist, played the piano, painted a number of logos for missionary conferences, was active on several committees, became the church historian, and in 1994-95 represented the church at "Clerk of the Works" when they built an addition on the back of the church.

In 1983 he found out that the Woodman Park School music teacher needed help, so he became his pianist, which lasted for 11 years. Then he started giving sing-a-longs for the folks in the Day-Out Program of the Homemakers of Strafford County in Rochester. Over the years he played on many occasions for fashion shows, Christmas open houses, weddings, nursing home music hours and provided restaurant dinner music primarily at the Cape Neddick Inn in Maine.

About 1979, he and his wife became interested in Dover history and along with several others, established the Dover Heritage Group, which gives heritage walks in different parts of the city every year. This group joined with the Northam Colonists to become the Dover Historical Society in 2000. He was a member and past president of the Colonists.

Because of all these volunteer activities, Dover’s Chamber of Commerce selected him as Dover’s Citizen of the Year 2001, which he recognized as a great honor. He was also awarded the Paul Harris Fellow award on Sept. 1, 2001 from Rotary.

The Foster’s Daily Democrat awarded Wells the "Points of Light" award on Dec. 19, 1998. In addition to membership in the above organizations, he also was a member of the National Association of Technical Supervisors and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife of more than 59 years, Frances; one son, Thomas Roberts Wells, Jr. of Dover; four daughters, Dianne Morrison and husband, Brian, of Campton, Suzanne Roux of Cape Neddick, Maine, Barbara Marmen and husband, James, of Eliot, Maine, Linda Spencer and husband, Joseph, of Far Hills, N.J.; four grandchildren, Kimberley Economos and husband, James Smith, of Eliot, Jeremy Roux and wife, Stephanie, of South Berwick, Maine, and Courtney and Derek Spencer of Far Hills; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Marin Smith of Eliot; one niece and one nephew.

Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the Dover Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery.

Nancy R. Ruths

ROCHESTER - Nancy Ruth Ruths, 70, of 5 Ryan Circle, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at her home.

Born in Portsmouth on Sept. 16, 1933, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the Earle and Doris (House) Beede.

She was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother. Her generosity was illustrated through her charitable contributions. She enjoyed bingo, collecting angels, and finding gifts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Vicki and her husband, Lou Carder, of Rochester, Eben and his wife, Diane Huston, of Rochester, Pamela and her husband, Brad Bowden, of Farmington, Susan and husband, Ron Lovell, of Rochester, Donna and her husband, Armand Larochelle, of Rochester, and Laura and her husband, Walter Smith, of Milford; a sister, Dorothea Pento, of Rochester. There are 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Ruths, in 2002.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, in the Chapel of the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester, NH 03867.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

George Beaudoin
ROCHESTER - George V. Beaudoin Jr., 75, of 14 Patton St., died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Sunbridge Rehabilitation of Rochester, following a period of failing health.

Born Nov. 7, 1928 in Rochester, he was the son of George V. and Violet (Grassie) Beaudoin Sr. He worked as a salesman for Gerber Baby Foods for 27 years, and before retiring, worked for Pratt and Whitney. He was very athletic; he was an avid golfer, enjoyed skiing and the outdoors and was very compassionate toward animals.

Members of his family include his wife of 42 years, Eileen (Tompson) Beaudoin of Rochester; stepson, Kent R. Corson and his wife, Shirley, of Pembroke; two brothers, Roger Beaudoin and his wife, Jane, of Gonic, and Donald Beaudoin and his wife, Cecile, of Ocala, Fla.; also grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester, N.H.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.

Burial will take place at the Rochester Cemetery in the spring.
