Jacob Brown
BRADENTON, Fla. - Jacob (Jake) Brown, 91, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of South Berwick, Maine, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004 at Golden Pond Retirement Residence.
He was born in Poland on Oct. 11, 1912. He came to this country in 1922 at the age of 10.
He was a shoeworker at Continental Shoe Co. in Portsmouth, N.H., for 33 years. He was an avid horse lover and owned many horses throughout his life. He was a member of the Army National Guard.
He was married to Eleanor Davis Brown, who died in 1985.
Surviving family include his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Hugh Bailey of Bradenton; his son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Nancy Brown of Apopka, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services are private for the family, and burial will be in South Berwick, Maine.

Theophelia Bruce
EXETER - Theophelia "Theo" W. Bruce, 89, of School Street died after a brief illness on Monday, Feb. 9, 2004 at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Exeter.
Born on July 25, 1914, she was a native and lifelong resident of Exeter, and was the daughter of Josef and Catherine (Suska) Wiscarva.
A graduate of Robinson Female Seminary in 1932, she was married to Robert F. Bruce on Dec. 28, 1936 at St. Michael’s Church.
A communicant of St. Michael’s Church, she was a past president of the Catholic Women’s Group. She was active in community affairs as a member of the Exeter Woman’s Club, the Polish Woman’s Club and formerly as supervisor of the checklist. She also had served as a Girl Scout troop leader in Exeter. Her many talents included flower and vegetable gardening, as well as the ability to crochet, knit and sew. She also enjoyed reading and baking in the kitchen for her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, who died in 1987.
Survivors include her three sons, Ret. Lt. Col. Robert J. Bruce of Carlisle, Pa., Theodore W. Bruce of Exeter, and Richard C. Bruce of Oakton, Va.; two daughters, Catherine A. Bruce of Reading, Mass., and Sheila B. Far of West Redding, Conn.; nine grandchildren, Bob, Matt, Ed, Rebecca and Julia Bruce, Katherine Weiler, Christian, Victoria, and Alexander Far; one sister, Mrs. Roger (Elizabeth) Blanchette of Exeter, and a sister-in-law, Rotha Wiscarva of Exeter.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, located at Lincoln and Front streets in Exeter. Burial will follow at the Exeter Cemetery.

Elizabeth Jelley
CONCORD - Elizabeth Jelley, 83, of Thompson Street, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at Concord Hospice House. She was born in Concord, the daughter of Michael and Grace (Delveccio) Annicchiarico. She was a graduate of Concord High School, Class of 1937. She enjoyed traveling, especially to visit her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Francis Jelley, who died in 1992; and one grandson, Derek Marston.
She is survived by her children, Robert and Bernie Jelley of Leesburg, Fla., Lt. Col. Michael and Sara Jelley of Peach Tree City, Ga., Judith and Duane Stearns of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Suzanne and James Bernier of Somersworth, Frances and Alan Marston of Clifton, Va., Mary and Dan Barnett of Vacaville, Calif.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary G. Annicchiarico of Concord; one brother, Joseph Annicchiarico of Concord; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 72 South Main St., Concord.
Burial will follow in the Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord.

Timothy Jones
PORTSMOUTH - Timothy E. Jones, 25, of Longmeadow Lane died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
He was born Jan. 11, 1979, in Charleston, S.C. He is the son of Ronald E. and Helen (Provencal) Jones. His hobbies included movies and computers.
Survivors include his father, Ronald Jones of South Carolina; his mother, Helen Jones of Lee; a stepmother, Betsy Jones of South Carolina; two sisters, Tammy Alessandro and her husband, Scott, of South Carolina, Erin Jones of South Carolina; and one niece, Camryn Alessandro of South Carolina.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Road, (Route 4) Lee, N.H. Funeral services will be held at Purdy Memorial Chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in the spring.

Andrew LaBranche
ROCHESTER - Andrew R. LaBranche, 82, of 45 Eagle Drive, Tara Estates, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Concord Hospital.
He was born in Newmarket on Jan. 29, 1922, the son of Felix and Marie (Grondin) LaBranche. He had been a resident of the Rochester area since 1960, previously residing in Newmarket.
He had been a longtime communicant of St. Mary Church in Rochester, and more recently attended St. Martin Church in Somersworth.
He had worked many years for Simplex Wire & Cable in Newington, prior to his retirement. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and enjoyed bowling, horse and dog racing and talking on his C.B. radio, using the handle "Spaceship."
He was predeceased by his first wife, Ethel Louise (Burres) LaBranche in 1985, and by his second wife, Laurette (Lehoullier) LaBranche in 2000.
Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Kathy LaBranche of Strafford; his stepchildren and their spouses, Tom and Diane Brown of Somersworth, Linda and Lawrence Dumais of York, Maine, Denny and DK Brown of Bloomington, Ind., David and Macine Brown of Peterborough, Larry and Lynda Brown of Niskayuna, N.Y., Norman and Sue Brown of Sandown, Gary and Ann Brown of Berwick, Maine, and Jeff and Denise Brown of Savannah, Ga.; three brothers, Robert LaBranche of Zephyr Hills, Fla., Leo LaBranche of Newmarket, and Richard LaBranche of Rollinsford; three sisters, Edna Plante of Dover, Cecile Ross of Tampa, Fla., and Isabelle Demeritt of Belmont; 20 step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at H.J. Grondin & Son Funeral Home, 177 North Main St., Rochester, will be Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Martin Church, Somersworth. Spring burial, with military honors, will be in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.

Robert Law
HUDSON - Robert Oliver Law, 79, of Blackstone Street, Hudson, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at his home, surrounded by his loving family members.
He was born on Oct. 24, 1924 in Manchester, the son of Robert E. and Blanche (Roy) Law.
He was the husband of Rita (Plourde) Law of Hudson, to whom he had been married for 56 years.
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He attended St. Joseph School for Boys and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and later received his MBA from New Hampshire College, where he was the oldest in the class, being 67 years of age.
He previously worked at AVCO and HADCO and was a member of the United States Engineers Association. He loved going on bike rides, photography, gazing at the stars through his telescope, fishing, playing chess, and he was very fond of mathematics.
He was predeceased by three sisters.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, John M. Law of Farmington, James J. and Tammy Law of Litchfield; two daughters and two sons-in-law, JoAnne and Gary Bedell of Sanford, Maine, and Janet and Ricky Mitchell of Hudson; seven grandchildren, Scott Law of Nashua, Jeff Law of Dunbarton, Kim Messina of Dexter, Maine, Jenny Brudzisz of Sanford, Nicole Mitchell of Hudson, Sarah Provencher of Mashpee, Mass., and Alan Law of Litchfield; five great-grandchildren, Kaila Montbleau, Victoria Law, both of Nashua, Lillian Law of Litchfield, and Christina Messina and Brandon Messina, both of Dexter.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church, 27 Library St., Hudson, on Friday at 10 a.m. All are invited and may meet at the church. Visiting hours are on Thursday at the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry St., Hudson, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Hudson.

Brian Nereson
EAST ROCHESTER - Brian Orin Nereson, 45, of 10 Unity St., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004.
Born on May 19, 1958 in Waukegan, Ill., he was the son of Jerry and Phyllis (Kahl) Nereson.
He served in the U.S. Army and then went to the National Guard. He served during the first Gulf War. He worked as a machine operator and was employed at Hutching Sealing Systems. He enjoyed the outdoors, racecars, working as a member of a pit crew for Hedgehog 26 at the Lee Speedway, repairing cars, woodworking and most of all, his family.
Members of his family include his wife of 23 years, Jeanne (Emond) Nereson of East Rochester; sons, Michael Nereson and his wife, Candice, of Scott Air Force Base, Ill., and Brian Nereson of Rochester; one daughter, Krista Nereson, of Rochester; his mother, Phyllis (Kahl) Nereson of Minnesota; two brothers, Wayne Nereson of California and Brent Nereson of Minnesota; three sisters, Vickie Nereson, Susan McMurray, and Lisa Henry and her husband, Doug, all of Minnesota.; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Jerry Nereson; and one brother, Scot Nereson.

George Strachan
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - George Carol Strachan, 63, formerly of New Hampshire, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004 at Veterans Hospice Medical Center in Hampton, Va.
He was born on July 2, 1940 in Rochester, N.H., to Carol Strachan and Madaline Bibeau. He was raised by his foster parents, George and Gertrude Littlefield. He was preceded in death by two close canine companions, Boozer and Tye. He was a contractor and owner of Kuminigans Restaurant and Pub in Milton and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He and his wife were involved with the VFW Post 8393 in Milton.
He is survived by his loving companion and wife of 18 years, Sharon Flood; five children, Wendy Dore of New Hampshire, Lesa Strachan of Massachusetts, Bonnie Theriault of New Hampshire, Douglas Stuver and his wife, Judy, of Virginia Beach, and Christina Paquette and her husband, Brett, of New Hampshire; nine sisters, Caroline Warburton, Audrey Keenan, Arlene Gregoire, Connie Dugal, Jackie LaValee, Mary Twombly, and Shirley Strachan; one half-brother, Norman Bibeau; and 10 grandchildren, Cejay, Jordan, Logan, Tyler, Zack, Brock, Gillian, Reese, Wade and Nathan.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 4, at 7 p.m. at Community Church of Milton. The family will receive friends after the service at the Community Center Hall across the street from the church. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 8393, P.O. Box 575, Milton, NH 03851.

George Wade
MIDDLETON - George F. Wade, 86, of Middleton, formerly of Walpole and Needham, died on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004 at his home.
Born in Needham, he attended Needham Public Schools and Wentworth Institute. He also took courses in York, Pa., for air conditioning and refrigeration. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
He met his wife, June, in 1946 while working for Pepsi Cola Corp. as a delivery truck driver. Later he moved to California and worked harvesting redwoods and sequoias for sawmills.
He also worked for White Brothers as a mechanic; at Raytheon as a supervisor; and at Hazeltine Corp. as a maintenance supervisor. He retired from Hazeltine in 1981.
A Walpole resident for 37 years, he moved to Middleton next door to his daughter in 1990. He was an avid fisherman. He fished the Matan River in Quebec, was a guide for the Klamath River in California and was a salmon fishing guide off the coast of California. He enjoyed deer hunting and raising beagles for bird hunting.
The beloved husband of June (Wing), he was the father of Robert G. and his wife, Ann, of Chatham, formerly of Needham, James W. and his wife, Fran, of West Tremont, Maine, Darlene J. Cremmen and her husband, Daniel, of Middleton, and the late John F. Wade.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave., Needham, at 11:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
Interment will be in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
John Wiswell
NORTHWOOD - John T. Wiswell, 89, of Mountain Avenue, Route 43, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Concord Hospital after a period of failing health.
Born Sept. 24, 1914 in Boston, he was the son of John T. Wiswell, Sr. and Hilda (Lindstrom).
He was a longtime resident of Northwood, moving to the area in the 1930s. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was awarded the Victory Medal.
Survivors include his daughter, Louise McGowan of Northwood and Miami, Fla.; and two grandsons, Michael and James McGowan.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Frances (Sexton) Wiswell.
A graveside service for him will be held in the spring at the East Northwood Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Purdy Memorial Chapel, Lee, N.H.

ROLLINSFORD - Patricia A. Young, 57, of Silver Street died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.
A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, 4 p.m. at the New Castle Congregational Church, Main Street, New Castle. A reception will follow.
