Hazel Lane
WOLFEBORO - Hazel Russell Lane, 91, of Wolfeboro, died on Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.
She was a long-term resident of The Ledges in Wolfeboro, where she developed and nurtured a showpiece flower garden. She was born Hazel Cotton in Brookfield on July 21, 1913, a daughter of John A. and Mary L. (Neal) Cotton and lived her childhood on Cotton Mountain and attended local schools.
She was predeceased by her late husbands, Lewis H. Russell of Wolfeboro and Russell H. Lane of Mount Dora, Fla.; also her daughter, Roena M. Russell of Mount Dora; and several siblings, including her dear sister, Inez L. Caswell, who died on April 25, 2003.
She is survived by seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
As per her request, there are no services planned. Interment will be at the Lake View Cemetery in Wolfeboro.

Joseph Nadeau
SOMERSWORTH - Joseph P. Nadeau, 67, of 26 Cystal Springs Trailer Park died Wednesday, Nov, 10, 2004, at his residence.
He was born in South Berwick, Maine, May 27, 1937, the son of Theresa Nadeau and the stepson of Ed (Charlie) Vigneault. He was educated in
Somersworth Schools. He served in the U.S. Army.
He had worked at Mayberry Shoe Co. and later at Gasses’ Service Station in Dover until it closed.
Survivors include two aunts, Ida Nadeau of Dover and Estelle Delano of
Somersworth; two uncles, Jean Robert Nadeau of Dover and Leopold Nadeau of Rochester; three stepbrothers, Armand Vigneault of Sun City, Ariz., Gerard Vigneault of Asheville, N.C., and Roger Vigneault of Dover.
Rita Paige
DOVER - Rita Paige, 79, formerly of Riverview Apartments, the widow of Walter V Paige, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at the Dover Rehab & Living Center.

Janet Waluck
MAYNARD, Mass. - Janet Marie (Poulson) Waluck, 81, died peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at the home of her daughter, with her family at her side.
She was the wife of Chester S. Waluck, who died March 1990. They were married for 47 years.
Born in Fitchburg Mass., she was the daughter of Nellie (Booth) and Paul Poulson and lived in Maynard until moving to Rochester, N.H. in 1987. She recently returned to Maynard to be with her daughter and family.
She was a 1941 graduate of Maynard High School and continued her education in Boston at The Fannie Farmer Cooking School and the Wilson Cake Decorating School.
She worked at the family business, Paul’s Food Shoppe in Maynard as a talented cake decorator, delighting her customers with beautiful birthday and wedding cakes until retiring in 1985. She moved with her husband to Rochester in 1987, to enjoy their retirement years. She was an active member of the Board of Directors of the Homemakers of Strafford County and auxiliary for several years.
She spent summers at Dummer’s Beach campground in Weld, Maine, for the past 49 years and was a member of the Webb Lake Association and the Historical Society. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her circle of friends.
She leaves her daughter, Brigit Anne Sokolowski and her husband, Ed, and granddaughter Nichole Sokolowski of Maynard. She was the mother of the late C. Douglas Waluck, who died in 1984, while serving in the U.S. Navy.
She also leaves her brother, Albert Poulson of Stow, Mass.; and a sister, Betty Campbell of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren on the West Coast.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, Nov. 20 at the Glenwood Cemetery, Great Road (Route 117), Maynard, officiated by the Rev. Gary Heikkala.

Maria Zarrillo
ROCHESTER - Maria Buzek Zarrillo, 68, of North Dewberry Lane, died on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, after a short bout with cancer, never complaining, always having a smile on her face.
She was born on March 13, 1936, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Salvatore N. and Sophia (Iacano) Zarrillo.
She loved life and lived entirely for the joy of others! Her children, grandchildren, family and friends meant the world to her, always being the first one there when needed for anything. She owned and operated several small businesses throughout her life. She also worked for Clarostat as a manager of the printing department. She was member of the Saint Anne’s Guild, and a very active community member in St. Mary’s Church in Rollinsford. She had a deep religious belief and prayed for her family always.
She is survived by three daughters, Angela Button and her husband, Brian, of Greenland, Susan McGovern and her husband, Kevin, of Lebanon, Maine, and Gina Lang and her husband, James, of The Woodlands, Texas; two sisters, Concetta Vinciguerra and her husband, Peter, of Amesbury, Mass., and Sally Cintorino and her husband, Salvatore, of West Islip, N.Y.; her former husband, Walter Buzek and his wife, Ellie, of Rochester; six grandchildren, Brianna and Sheldon Button, Elizabeth and Margaret McGovern and James and Alexandria Lang.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday at 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Nov. 17 at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave, Dover, N.H.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, at St. Charles Church, 577 Central Ave., Dover, with Father Paul Gregoire, pastor officiating.

Jim Churchill
EXETER - Jim Churchill, 72, died at his home on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004.
He was born Fred Leslie James Churchill on Oct. 7, 1932. Everyone knew him as Jim. He was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War, and a graduate of the University of New Hampshire.
Along with his wife Judy, he owned and operated Churchill’s Garden Center from 1972 to 1994. An avid sports fan, he lived to see two Patriots Super Bowl victories and a Red Sox World Series championship.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy (Manix) Churchill; two daughters, Linda and her husband, Chris Noll, of Farmington, Conn., and Carol Churchill of Exeter; his son, Scott Churchill of San Francisco, Calif.; two grandchildren, Katie and Connor Noll of Farmington; two sisters, Constance and her husband, Chic MacDougall, of Exeter, and Marylou and her husband, Jerry Hinds, of Exeter.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 1 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Wes Burwell will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery.

Haley DaSilva
SOMERSWORTH - Haley Kasandra DaSilva, infant daughter of Heidi Reynolds and Andrew DaSilva, was born still Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.
She is survived by her parents, Heidi Reynolds and Andrew DaSilva; her sister, Mandie Reynolds of Somersworth; her brother, Andrew DaSilva of Somersworth; maternal grandmother, Jean Reynolds of Somersworth; paternal grandparents, Judith Holmes and Thomas DaSilva, both of Massachusetts; her aunts and uncles, Albert Reynolds, III, Christine Hudon, Cristelee Peake, John Peake, Levi DaSilva, and Devin DaSilva; and several cousins.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover with the Rev. Aaron Phaff, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to visit one hour prior to the funeral(from noon to 1 p.m.). Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth
Charles Drouin
PENACOOK - Charles "Buddy" Drouin, 80, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, surrounded by his loving family at the Concord Hospice House.
He was born April 17, 1924, the son of Mildred and Joseph Drouin. He graduated from Concord High School, Class of 1942. After graduation, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II as a radar technician.
He worked at Sears Roebuck in Concord for 39 years, retiring in 1986. On Sept. 23, 1946, he was married to Pauline E. Wasson. Together they were blessed with three children, Patricia Decker of South Burlington, Vt., Betty Swanton of Biddeford Pool, Maine and Alan Drouin of Wakefield. He has seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren with one on the way.
He was predeceased by his two sisters, Marie and Shirley.
A visitation in celebration of Buddy’s life will be held with his family and friends on Thursday at the Wendell Butt Funeral Home, 42 Washington St., Penacook, from 11-12:30 p.m. Following, there will be a short service at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Route 3, Boscawen.

Nancy Duguay
MIDDLETON - Nancy D. Duguay, 71, formerly of Danvers, Mass., died unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004. She was the wife of Oliver J. Duguay of Middleton, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage.
She was the daughter of Octave (Pete) Pelletier and Margaret (McCarthy) Pelletier.
Born in Peabody, Mass., and raised in Salem, Mass., she graduated from Salem High School in 1950 and Burdett College of Lynn in 1953.
She had worked at the United Shoe Machinery in Beverly, Mass., Kuell’s Market in Middleton, Mass., and was a medical office manager in Danvers, Mass., until her retirement.
She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Danvers Riverside Squares for many years, belonged to the PTA in Danvers, while her children attended school. She enjoyed bingo, bowling, reading, playing cards and treasured spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. In her later years, she traveled with her husband and spent winters in Largo, Fla.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Gary P. and his wife, Patricia A. (Savoie) Duguay, of Groveland, Mass.; a daughter, Sharon A. Duguay of Hercules, Calif.; and treasured grandchildren, Derek P. and Craig O. Duguay of Groveland.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 95 Federal St., corner of North St., (Rte. 114), Salem, followed by a Mass at St. Richard’s Church, Forest Street, Danvers, Mass. at 10 a.m.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Wednesday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will begin from Murphy’s Funeral, 85 Federal St., corner of North St., Salem, at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3 to St. Mary’s Cemetery in Salem, beginning at 10 a.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Matthew Flaherty
WELLS, Maine - Matthew J. Flaherty, 86, of Wells, Maine, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough. He was born in Portland, on Jan. 29, 1918, a son of Mark and Ann (Welch) Flaherty.
He graduated from Deering High School in Portland in 1937. While there, he excelled in football, basketball, and track and field. This athletic prowess continued at the University of New Hampshire, resulting in three letters in each sport. He was a national level hammer thrower and was inducted into the UNH Hall of Fame. As a World War II veteran, he served in Germany and Italy.
He had a farm in Dover, N.H., and taught biology at Dover High School. There, he was also a coach for 15 years, where he led the basketball team to the state title in 1942. For the next 23 years, he was a high school principal in Alton, N.H., South Berwick and Wells. He was known for his leadership in education and his innovative approach to teaching.
Above all else, he is remembered for his kindness and the respect he gave to all individuals. His daily actions supported his integrity, family values, and unwavering honesty. He found the goodness in all people and was known as a champion of the underdog.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Kathleen Ahern; his parents; and three sisters, Dorothy MacLean, Rete Bonner, and Eileen Leach.
He is survived by his wife, Helen H. Flaherty of Wells; daughters, Kathleen Davidson and her husband, Dr. Robin, of Clinton, Mass., Luanne Dadura and her husband, Edward, of Mooresville, N.C., Mary Eisenhard and her husband, John, of Pavilion, N.Y., and Dorothy Saucier and her husband, David, of Old Town; stepchildren, Georgia Rencher and her husband, Frank, of Kooskia, Idaho; Alan White and his wife, Jeanette, of Anchorage, Alaska; and David White and his wife, Cynthia, of Sandwich, N.H. He is also survived by five sisters, Adelaide Luttrell, Agnes Flaherty, Helen Vankevich, Mary Nelson, Katherine Massell; and one brother, Edward Flaherty; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, in Wells, Maine. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 236 Eldridge Road, in Wells with Father Joseph Ford.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland, Maine on Friday, December 3 at 11 a.m.

Isabelle Gagnon
DOVER - Isabelle M. (Marrott) Gagnon, 95, of Dover Point Road, Dover, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at St. Anne Healthcare, Dover.
She was born in Nashua on Jan. 12, 1909, the daughter of Edward and Victoria (Garant) Marrott. She is the wife of Ovide Gagnon.
She had been a lifelong resident of Nashua before moving to Dover and had been employed by the former Jackson Mills. She was a communicant of the former St. Francis Xavier Church.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Victor O. and Kay Gagnon; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Garcia and Kevin Gagnon; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday in St. Louis de Gonzague Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Anctil-Rochette & Son Funeral Home, 21 Kinsley St., Nashua.

Faye Gerstein
PORTSMOUTH - Mrs. Faye (Osher) Gerstein, 93, beloved widow of Samuel Gerstein, of 364 Miller Ave., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at the Mark H. Wentworth Home in Portsmouth.
Born in New York City, N.Y., on Sept. 24, 1911, she was the daughter of Samuel and Rose (Blum) Osher. She was a graduate of Brooklyn College, Class of 1932 and attended the Juilliard School of Music in New York City at which time she performed at Carnegie Hall. She was a piano teacher for many years, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of Temple Israel in Portsmouth; past president of the National Council of Jewish Women and Temple Sisterhood. She was a member of the Portsmouth Hospital Guild; board member of Community Concert Association; AARP; and a past member of the League of Women Voters.
She leaves three sons, Stanley Mark Gerstein of Malden, Mass., Dr. Larry J. Gerstein of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Daniel David Gerstein of Portsmouth; four grandchildren; a sister, Loretta Tepper of St. Louis, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Morris Osher and sister, Rae Schechter.
