Theresa Lambert
SOMERSWORTH - Theresa Lambert, 74, of 7 Highland St. died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after a period of failing health.
Theresa was born Dec. 21, 1927, in Somersworth and was the daughter of John Edward and Bertha (Vanasse) Hanegan. She was raised in Somersworth, attending local schools. She had been a resident of this community all her life.
She worked for a time Roberts Shoe Co. and Clarostat, but spent most of her time as a homemaker and caring for her children and grandchildren. She loved life, lived for her family and was a very strong-willed and determined woman. Before she became blind, she loved to crochet, play cards, cook, read and do crossword puzzles. But most of all, she enjoyed her family to the fullest.
Her family, includes her four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Sheila) Libby of Berwick Maine; Mrs. Edwin (Charlene) Dorr of Rochester, Mrs. Ronald (Noreen) Long of Berwick, Maine, and Mrs. Brian (Tracey) Pike of Dunbarton; two sons, Scott Lambert of Somersworth and Gerry Lambert of North Berwick, Maine; a brother, Thomas E. Hanegan of Dover; a sister, Rhenda Carrier of Somersville, S.C.; her aunt and the oldest Somersworth citizen, Wilda Carr; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Hanegan; a sister, Christine Vachon; her son, Michael, who died in 1973; and by her husband, Girard Lambert, who died in 1994.
Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South St., Somersworth, will be Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at 10 a.m. at St. Martin Catholic Church, West High Street, Somersworth, with the Rev. Aaron Pfaff, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Cavalry Cemetery, Somersworth. The family respectfully declines flowers. Dr. Frederick Pitchforth
NORTH HAMPTON - Dr. Frederick J. Pitchforth, 78, of 146 Exeter Road and formerly of High Street, Exeter, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Exeter Hospital.
Raised in Amesbury, Mass., Dr. Pitchforth was born in Newburyport on Aug. 30, 1923, the son of the late Frederick C. and Margaret (Antell) Pitchforth. He had resided in Exeter for 47 years coming from Amesbury and had moved to North Hampton last week.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as assistant gunners mate onboard the USS Boise in both the European and Pacific theaters.
Dr. Pitchforth operated a chiropractic office in Exeter for more than 50 years, retiring in June 2001.
He was a graduate of Amesbury High School and a 1947 graduate of the Palmer School of Chiropractic. Dr. Pitchforth was an early member and active supporter of Exeter’s Democratic Party and served the town as a poll worker for many years. He was also an active member of the Exeter United Methodist Church.
Family members include his wife of 54 years, Geraldine L. Pitchforth of North Hampton; two sons, Barry J. Pitchforth and his wife, Judy of Arundel, Maine, and William J. Pitchforth of North Hampton; a daughter, Joy A. Cross of North Hampton; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be held at Exeter United Methodist Church, 307 Epping Road, Exeter on Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be at Bartlett Cemetery, Amesbury, in the spring. Assistance with the arrangements was by the Stockbridge Funeral Home of Exeter.
Raymond Geroux
TILTON - Mr. Raymond H. Geroux, 84, of Clark Road, died at The Peabody Home in Franklin on Feb. 8, 2002.
He was born in Franklin on Jan. 7, 1918, the son of William and Gertrude (Hebert) Geroux. He was educated in Franklin and was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1935. He also completed several military and civil service specialized courses. During World War II, Mr. Geroux served as a paratrooper with the 307th Airborne Engineers Battalion for Combat Team 82nd Airborne Division in Europe.
Many years ago, he was employed as a mule spinner at The JP Stevens Co. In 1941, he accepted a job in the Navy Department in Washington, D.C. His first job was as a messenger for the Secretary of The Navy. He held many jobs as a civil servant in the Washington, D.C., area before his retirement in 1978.
Mr. Geroux was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2170; The Franklin Lodge of Elks No. 1280, VFW Post No. 1698 and The American Legion Whiteman Davidson Post No. 49 in Tilton. He was a longtime member of the former Mojalaki Country Club in Franklin and later at The Lochmere Country Club.
Mr. Geroux was a communicant of St. Paul Church. His first wife, Genevieve (Blake) Geroux, died in 1975.
Family members include his wife, Mrs. Rachel (Daigneault) Geroux of Tilton; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Kema Geroux of Virginia Beach, Va.; three grandchildren, Sarah Geroux, Nicholas Geroux, and Cody Geroux, all of Virginia Beach; and several cousins.
He was predeceased by his sister, Miss Irene Geroux who died in 2000.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, from 6-9 p.m. at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Church. Immediately following the Mass, a reception will be held at The Franklin VFW Post No. 1698, Peabody Place, Franklin. Interment will be in The N.H. State Veterans Cemetery.

Norman Buswell
MARBLEHEAD, Mass. - Norman Weston Buswell, 89, of Marblehead, Mass., died Feb. 6, 2002, in Wolfboro, N.H. He was the husband of the late Abbie (Sinclair) Buswell with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
Born in Marblehead on April 14, 1912, he was the son of the late Ralph and Mildred (Roundy) Buswell. He was a graduate of Marblehead High School.
Mr. Buswell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served both during World War II and the Korean War.
Mr. Buswell was a lifelong carpenter. He retired in 1984 and moved with his wife to Middleton, N.H., where he was both the local building inspector and a selectman.
He is survived by three sons, Dana A. Buswell and his wife JoAnne, Gary S. Buswell, and Ralph N. Buswell, all of Marblehead; one sister, Beulah Kuell of Marblehead; eight grandchildren, Richard, Kevin, and Karen Buswell, all of Beverly, Tina Buswell of Florida, and Lisa, Dana, Geoffrey and Jennifer Buswell all of Marblehead; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Buswell of Marblehead.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Lloyd and Raymond Buswell.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Waterside Cemetery, West Shore Drive, Marblehead. Arrangements are under the direction of the Eustis-Cornell Funeral Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons, Marblehead, Mass.
Sally Peters
DOVER - Sally Peters of Nile Street in Dover died early Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Riverside Rest Home after a period of failing health. She was 85 years old.
Born June 23, 1916, in Iron River, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Sophia (Majewski) Valkavitch. She was a supervisor for Tiara Foot Wear and Roberts Shoe Manufacturing. She was in the industry for over 50 years. She has been a Dover resident for over 70 years and was married to the late George Peters Sr. for 58 years.
Survivors include one son, George S. Peters Jr. of Sarasota, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Sharon) Hogan of Alton Bay, and Ms. Cynthia Allis of Rye; one brother, Bronson Wallace of Lowell, Mass.; two sisters, Deloris and Alice; three grandchildren, David Warnke, Stephen Warnke and William Warnke; four great-grandchildren, John Warnke, Shannon Warnke, Derek Warnke and Taylor Warnke; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one grandchild, Daniel Allis.

Blanche Moran
FRANKLIN - Mrs. Blanche T. Moran, 69, of South Main St., died at Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen on Feb. 9, 2002.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Jan. 8, 1933, the daughter of Wilbur and Loretta (Murray) Jones. She was raised in Brooklyn and later resided in Huntington, Long Island, N.Y. ,until moving to East Concord in 1968. She later lived in Concord and moved to Franklin in 1975.
She was formerly employed in the housekeeping department at Mtn. Ridge Health Care Center in Franklin.
Family members include her husband whom she married in 1951, Edward J. Moran, Jr. of Franklin; four children, Paula Gallagher of Franklin, Edward J. Moran III of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Dawn Blais of Laconia and Michael F. Moran of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Brothers and Ginna Gibbs, both of Staten Island, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, from 6-9 p.m. at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord.

Margaret Fernald
FARMINGTON - Margaret Lucille Fernald, 77, of 483 Ten Rod Road, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at the Rochester Manor after a period of failing health.
She was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Harpster, Ill., the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Sarah (List) Cline. She has resided in Farmington since 1974, previously living in Rochester and Barrington. She was a homemaker and had worked at Taylor Egg Processing Farm.
Mrs. Fernald was a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, yard sales and working in her flower gardens.
Members of her family include her husband of 46 years, Roger Lewis Fernald Sr. of Farmington; one son, Roger L. Fernald, Jr. of Farmington; two daughters, Connie Fernald of Acton, Maine, and Margaret Valadries of Moline, Ill.; three sisters, Ethel Zimmerman, Freda Meece and Vera Meece, all of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester.
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Al Weeden officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover, in the spring.
Allan Bates
ROCHESTER - Allan Mark Bates, 34, of 10 Drury Lane, died suddenly Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, in Rochester.
He was born Dec. 11, 1967, in Nashua, the son of Allan Bates and Heather Livingston Bates. Allan has resided in Rochester for the past four years, previously living in Somersworth. He worked as toy manager at Wal-Mart in Newington. He was a member of St. Charles Church of Dover and loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Members of his family include his wife of four years, Virginia "Ginger" (Gietzen) Bates of Rochester; two step-children, Rachel and Joseph Hogan of Rochester; his father, Allan Bates of Florida; his mother, Heather Bates of Massachusetts; four brothers, Charles, Kenneth, Ronald, and Phillip Bates; two sisters, Meredith Bates Smith, Elizabeth (Bates) Ahmed; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, North Main Street, Rochester.

Roland Bisson
ROCHESTER - Roland Raymond Bisson, 44, of 136 Franklin St., died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at his home following a sudden illness.
He was born in Rochester on Aug. 18, 1957, the son of Raymond and Lucille (Lemay) Bisson. He lived most of his life in the Somersworth and Rochester area.
He was proud to have served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of supply sergeant, and volunteering to serve in the Gulf War following his initial four years of service.
Mr. Bisson was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, with a bachelor’s degree in history.
He was a current active lieutenant with the Somersworth Fire Department, with nearly 22 years of service. He was scheduled to retire this coming September.
At one time, he had worked as a part-time police officer for the city of Somersworth for approximately four years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Somersworth. He also held memberships in the Somersworth Fireman’s Association, Professional Firefighters of New Hampshire Association and the International Association of Firefighters.
Roland was a loving and devoted husband and father, whose greatest joy was spending time with his four sons. He was a military history buff, a passion he enjoyed with his sons.
He also enjoyed doing yard work, driving his lawn tractor and doing woodwork with his boys. He was especially proud of the large, three-story tree house they had built together in their family yard.
Surviving family members include his wife of eight years, Cathie (Curry) Bisson of Rochester; his four sons, Raymond, Kevin, Garrett and Timothy Bisson, all of Rochester; a brother, Normand G. Bisson of Manchester; two sisters, Suzanne Stevens of Acton, Maine, and Ramonde Corliss of Somersworth; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at True Memorial Baptist Church, 21 Ten Rod Road, Rochester. The Rev. Fred Leslie, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date.
A college fund for Roland’s sons is being established for those who wish to contribute in his memory, in care of Cathie Bisson, at 136 Franklin St. Rochester, N.H. 03867.

Roland Boucher
SOMERSWORTH - Roland "Mickey" J. Boucher, 82, of Atlantic Avenue, Wells, Maine, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Sunbridge Rehabilitation & Living Center, Rochester, after a period of failing health.
Born Oct. 11, 1919, in Somersworth, he was the son of Donat and Emiline (Poulin) Boucher.
A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Legion Post 69, VFW Somersworth 4485 and DAV in Somersworth.
He was the owner/operator of Mickey’s Lunch, Main Street, Somersworth, for 35 years, retiring in August 1980.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Rachel Claire (Daigle) Boucher of Wells; two sons, Richard Boucher and his wife, Karen, of Berwick, Maine, and Donald Boucher and his wife, Paula, of Felton, Calif.; two daughters, Linda Fewless and her husband, Robert, of Rochester, and LuAnn Drury and her husband, Michael, of Newport Beach, Calif.; one sister, Theresa Hamel and her husband, Lionel, of Somersworth; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends and relatives may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover.

Sandy Finlayson
SAN MARCOS, Calif. - Sandy (Flora) Finlayson was born in Canada on May 11, 1921, and passed away on Feb. 19, 2002.
Her parents came to the United States when she was 2 years old, along with their other children. The family lived in Massachusetts and then in New Hampshire.
Sandy attended high school in New Hampshire and then attended the Massachusetts School of Physical Therapy and Boston University.
She worked for an orthopedic surgeon for 10 years.
Sandy was married to Stanley W. Finlayson and, after college, he was employed by Honeywell Inc. in the aerospace and defense group.
They were transferred to several offices throughout the country and finally to Honeywell’s New York office. He was an executive with Honeywell for 21 years when he suddenly died of a massive coronary at the age of 44.
Sandy moved to San Diego and later joined an international consulting firm and reached the position of systems analyst until she retired. At that time, she sold her large home in San Diego and moved to Rancho Vellecitos Estates.
During her life, she took many courses in a community or state university and, upon retirement, studied fine art. She exhibited her art in many galleries and juried shows, winning awards as well as being featured in national publications.
She belonged to several art associations and received portrait commissions. Her art can be found in many private collections.
She leaves two brothers and one sister, 19 nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and nephews. She will be laid to rest with her late husband at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Mass.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Anderson Bryant Funeral Home in Stoneham, Mass., on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002.

Hugh Miller
ROCHESTER - Hugh Ronald Miller Sr., 71, of 199 Washington St., died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at home after a period of failing health.
He was born Jan. 24, 1931, in Rochester, the son of the late Douglas and Edith (Jackson) Miller. He was a lifelong resident of Rochester.
Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict from 1950-53 and had received the Purple Heart.
He worked at Cullens Cleaners, Davidson Rubber Co. for 14 years, and then retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
Mr. Miller was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying deer and rabbit hunting, fly fishing and brook fishing. He also enjoyed politics, local and national.
Members of his family include his wife of 43 years, Elaine (McKenna) Miller of Rochester; sons, Hugh Ronald Miller Jr. of New Durham and Scott W. Miller of Milton; daughter, Tammy Miller Traniello of Wells, Maine; grandchildren, Andrew and Beau Miller of New Durham, Danielle and Jacob Miller of Milton and Raquel Traniello of West Rockport, Maine; brother, John Miller of Rochester; sister, Edith Douglas of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester. The funeral service will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Wayne Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the spring.
