George Gingras
HUDSON - George Gerard Gingras, 91, of 3 Alpha St., died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at the Rochester Manor in Rochester after a brief period of failing health.
He was born in Canada on Sept. 25, 1910, the son of Joseph and Marie (Gingras) Gingras and had been living in Hudson recently, having previously resided in Rochester for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Lea Vaillancourt and her husband, Lucien of Hudson; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Angela Gosselin of Sherbrooke, P.Q., Canada; many stepchildren; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the H.J. Grondin & Son Funeral Home, 177 North Main St., Rochester.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Rosary Church in Rochester with burial to follow in St. Augustine Cemetery in Manchester.
Shirley Jesseman
BARRINGTON - Shirley Rita Jesseman, 72, of 51A Green Hill Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after a period of failing health.
Born July 20, 1929, in Somersworth, she was the daughter of John and Clara A. (Varney) Norman.
She graduated from Dover High School, Class of 1947, and was also a graduate of LaSalle Extension University of Chicago.
For several years, she was employed as a bookkeeper with the Barrington School District and also with David R. Whitcher, Inc. of Strafford. She retired from Mick’s Small Engine and Marine of Farmington.
She was very active in the Alumni Association and, three times a year, she would write a newsletter which she mailed to her high school classmates.
She enjoyed hobbies such as needlepoint on plastic canvas, jigsaw and crossword puzzles and she was an avid reader.
She is survived by her mother of Barrington; her husband of 16 years, Melton A. Jesseman of East Burke, Vt.; three sons, Wayne M. Glidden of New Durham, Michael D. Roberts of Farmington and John H. Roberts of Cherokee Village, Ariz.; two daughters, Nancy L. Swenson of Dover and Diana J. Bascom of Alstead; two sisters, Audrey L. Wheeler and Adeline J. Wheeler, both of Barrington; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In 1952, she was predeceased by her father, and in 1935, by a 6-month old brother, who was killed in an automobile accident.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Community Baptist Church, 136 Eastern Ave., Rochester.
Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Barrington, in the spring.

Edward Kusnierz
ROCHESTER - Edward M. Kusnierz, 83, of 51 Evans Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at the SunBridge Health Care and Rehabilitation of Rochester.
Born April 10, 1918, in Chicopee, Mass., he was the son of John and Caroline (Kozaka) Kusnierz.
Mr. Kusnierz has lived in New Hampshire since 1941.
He served in the U.S. Navy SeaBees during World War II.
He worked as a machinist instructor for Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until his retirement in 1979.
He was a member of the VFW and the grange.
He is survived by his sons, John Kusnierz and his wife, Linda of Billerica, Mass., and Gary Kusnierz and his wife, Sheryl of Rochester; his daughter, Roseanna Hoverman and her husband, Bruce of Fairfax, Va., and Kim Swenson and her husband, Joseph of Barrington; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Kusnierz of Worcester, Mass., Carol Brown of Rochester, Farah Kusnierz of Keene, Paul Kusnierz of Rochester, Andrew Hoverman of Fairfax, Joey and Gary Swenson, both of Barrington; a brother, Henry Kusnierz of Belchertown, Mass.; two sisters, Jane Alto of Lakeworth, Fla., and Lillian Coppola of Lantana, Fla.; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Mary (Ficket) Kusnierz; and a brother, Teddy Kusnierz.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. John Scruton officiating.
Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery in the spring.

John Moors
TAHOE CITY, Nev. - John W. Moors, 48, died in Reno on Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, from injuries sustained after being struck by a motor vehicle on the Mount Rose Highway.
He was born in Rochester, N.H., on Dec. 30, 1952, the son of Dr. Charles E. and Jean S. Moors. He grew up in Rochester and Dover, N.H., graduating from Dover High School in 1970.
An avid skier, he and several friends ventured west shortly after graduation to ski and see the country. He eventually settled in the Tahoe City area, where he resided for many years working as a licensed building contractor.
An avid sports fan and outdoorsman, he excelled at everything he attempted and especially enjoyed skiing, hiking, biking, golf and pool. He also loved baseball and the Boston Red Sox.
He is survived by his sister, Carole Reynolds and her husband, Bruce of Rochester; a brother, Daniel Moors and his wife, Ximena of Gainesville, Fla.; four nieces and a nephew; several grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Charles Weber Moors.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Emmanual Advent Christian Church, Eastern Ave., Rochester.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Stanley Semco Jr.
MILTON - Stanley A. Semco Jr., 85, of St. James Street, died Thursday morning, Jan. 24, 2002, at his home, following a lengthy illness.

Oscar Turmelle
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - Oscar Joseph "O.J." Turmelle, 77, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
He was born Sept. 12, 1924, in Rochester, N.H., the son of Oscar J. Turmelle Sr. and Mona O. Grant Turmelle.
He was a 1942 graduate of Spaulding High School in Rochester.
Mr. Turmelle was with the U.S. Army’s 1274th combat engineer battalion and served in England, France and Belgium during World War II.
He returned to the University of New Hampshire and graduated in 1949 with a degree in civil engineering.
From New Hampshire, he moved to Denver, Colo., to work for the Bureau of Reclamation in the U.S. Department of the Interior. While in Denver, he married Alice Jean Miller of Ames, Iowa. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 28, 2001.
Mr. Turmelle first came to Oak Ridge in 1952 and lived in his future hometown for six months as he began a career with the Atomic Energy Commission. He worked as an engineer at the AEC facility in Portsmouth, Ohio, and for 17 years at the Fernald Plant near Cincinnati. During 1972, he returned to Oak Ridge and was an early contributor to the Radioactive Waste Storage Program. He retired from the Department of Energy in 1980 and later worked part-time for Rust Engineering at Y-12 for five years.
Mr. Turmelle and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada and to many international locations including Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, England, France and Ireland. Their favorite area in all the world was the rocky coastline of New England. In October 2001, they took a trip to Quebec to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.
Mr. Turmelle was a sports fan, from harness racing (a love born at the Rochester, N.H., Fair during the 1930s) to Oak Ridge Wildcat football.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice Miller Turmelle; a son, John Turmelle and his wife, Marilyn of Houston, Texas, and their children, Trevor, Spencer and Corinne, a son, Tom Turmelle and his wife, Lee Ann of Tulsa, Okla., and their daughters, Claire and Constance; a daughter, Janet Dunn and her husband, Wayne of Johnson City, and their daughter, Rachael; a seventh grandchild is expected in April.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary, 158 South Jefferson Circle, Oak Ridge. A celebration of his life will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

William Yellenik
BRENTWOOD - William "Bill" A. Yellenik, 52, of Lindon Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at the Exeter Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 18, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pa., son of Andrew C. and Margaret (Bayuk) Yellenik of Pittsburgh.
He grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from North Catholic High School. He then moved to Ohio and received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Dayton.
He met his wife in Ohio and they later moved to Somersworth where they spent 10 years. He had spent the last three years living in Brentwood.
He was a manager for the Osram Sylvania Co. in Exeter and had been with the company for the past 13 years.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was a member of the N.E. Antique Bottle Club and the Brentwood Gardeners. He was on the Brentwood Town Budget Committee.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Patricia (Soika) Yellenik of Brentwood; his mother, Margaret Yellenik of Pittsburgh; two brothers, Andrew Mark Yellenik of Castro Valley, Calif., and Robert F. Yellenik of Pittsburgh; one sister, Margaret Thomas of Milford, Conn.; six nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter.
Funeral services will follow on Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Horace Baribeault
ROCHESTER - Horace Baribeault, 92, of 17 Allen St., died Thursday Jan. 24, 2002, at the Sunbridge Health Care and Rehabilitation center in Rochester after a long illness.
Born June 30, 1909, in Spencer, Mass., he was the son of Emile and Mary (LaLiberty) Baribeault.
Mr. Baribeault has lived in Rochester since 1936. He worked as a squarer at the Allen and Hall Box Co. He also drove a truck, delivering newspapers in Spencer, Mass. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He played minor league baseball. He loved his family and his grandchildren.
Members of his family include his wife of 61 years, Adelaide (Byron) Baribeault of Rochester; his sons, Wayne Baribeault of Farmington and Robert Baribeault of Clearwater Fla.; a daughter, Joanne Stevens of Rochester; his grandchildren, Gary Baribeault of Rochester, Melanie Cormier of Rochester, Wayne Baribeault of Rochester, Stephanie Baribeault of Strafford, Leslie Baribeault of Portland, Maine, Gina Henderson of Rochester and Lisa Cambell of Somersworth; his great- grandchildren, Noah Cambell of Somersworth, Joshua Baribeault of Strafford, Alyssa and Emily Baribeault, both of Rochester, and Morgan M. Baribeault of Portland, Maine; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Roy and George Baribeault; five sisters, Lovena Mottau, Edna Neville, Pauline Baribeault, Beatrice Baribeault and Irene Mandeville.

Ruth Couture
BERWICK, Maine - Ruth E. Couture, 78, of Pine Hill Mobile Home Park, died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover, N.H.
She was born, Oct. 15, 1923, in Union, N.H., the daughter of Charles and Ella May (Jennes) Nute and was educated in the Milton Schools.
Mrs. Couture had been a resident of Berwick for the last 35 years.
She was the widow of Lucien G. Couture, who died in 1992.
Surviving are five sons, Wayne and his wife, Diane Couture, of North Berwick, Lucien J. Couture of Rochester, N.H., Timothy B. Couture of Berwick, Steven M. Couture and his wife, Lynn, of Rochester, N.H. and Dale M. Couture of Berwick; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Linda) Skvirsky of Dover, N.H. and Donna L. Couture of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
There will be no public visiting hours.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Laing Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St., Berwick, with Dr. Peggy Dunn, pastor of the Berwick United Methodist Church officiating. Spring interment will be in Milton Mills Cemetery in Milton, N.H.
Beverly Downing
MILTON - Mrs. Beverly C. Downing, 73, of Townhouse Road, Hurst Estates, died Thursday morning, Jan. 24, 2002, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a brief illness.
Born Sept. 30, 1928, in Plymouth, she was the daughter of Erwin and Della (Ouellette) Witcher. She had resided in Milton for six years, having previously resided in Union.
A homemaker, she enjoyed gardening and flowers.
She is survived by her husband, Wesley A. Downing of Milton; five children, Robert Frank and his wife, Ann M. Downing of Farmington, Michael D. Downing and his fiancee, Linda Willcox of Wakefield, Vincent Downing of Florida, Gary Downing of South Carolina and Bonnie Downing; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy McKiernay of East Hartford, Conn.; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda Lawson.

ROCHESTER - Norman E. Fall, 84, of Dartmouth Lane, Rochester died, Jan. 24, 2001.

Donald Haney Jr.
ROCHESTER - Donald M. Haney Jr., 62, of 182 Chestnut Hill Road, died Jan. 23, 2002, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover after a long and extremely courageous battle with diabetes.
A lifetime resident of Rochester, he was born Jan. 23, 1940, at Rochester Hospital. He was the son of Donald M. Haney Sr. and Rita (Ellis) Haney. He attended Rochester schools.
He was an employee of Indco Industries for 26 years. Prior to that, he worked for Spaulding Fibre in Milton, Prime Tanning in Berwick, Maine, and Wyandotte Woolen Mill in Rochester.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman having "bagged" 35 deer during his lifetime. Other hobbies and interests included camping in Ossipee and Pittsburg, Saturday morning yard sales, antiquing auctions and watching the Buffalo Bills on television.
He is survived by his wife and loving caregiver, Melinda (Dixon) Haney; sons, Jason Langlais, Gage Langlais and Normand Langlais Jr.; his mother, Rita (Ellis) Robbins; his brother, David W. Haney Sr. and his wife, Jeannette (Dixon) Haney, all of Rochester; several brothers- and sisters-in-laws; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and a very special friend and boss, Earle Andrews of Rochester.
He was predeceased by his father, Donald M. Haney Sr. in 1964; his brother, Paul L. Haney in 1990; and his stepfather, Sumner Robbins in 1998.
