Nathan Decker
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Nathan Thomas Decker, 84, of 20 Brown Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover after a brief illness.
He was born on Feb. 15, 1916, in Hardin, Lebanon, the son of William and Emmiline Alexander Decker and attend Wilkes-Barre schools.
Mr. Decker was an Air Force veteran of World War II, having serving in the South Pacific achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He also received the Bronze Star.
He was self employed as a scrap and metal dealer throughout the Wyoming Valley. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 132; St. Anthony’s/St. George Maronite Church, where he was a communicate and usher. He was also active in services of St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus.
He was predeceased by a brother, George; and sisters, Mary Mislak and Cecila Wire.
He and his wife would have celebrated 54 years of marriage Nov. 28.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Emma, are son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Thomas N. and Vicki Anderson Decker of Portsmouth, N.H.; son Rev. Father William T. Decker, pastor of the St. Sharbel Church, Portland, Ore.; grandson, Nathan T. and granddaughter, Christen L. both of Portsmouth. N.H.; brother William of Wilkes-Barre; sisters, Theresa of Wilkes-Barre, Louise Chmura of Wilkes-Barre, Anna John of Wilkes-Barre, Katherine Gould of Mountaintop.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Manary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Maronite Church.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony/St. George Maronite Church, 79 Loomis St., Wilkes-Barre, PA, 18702.
Albert Frisbee
HAMPTON - Mr. Albert Daniel Frisbee, 70, husband of Carole Lee (Dennis) Frisbee, of 41 Vanderpool Drive, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at the Exeter Hospital in Exeter.
He was born in Portland, Maine, April 17, 1930, the son of Byron Frisbee and Eloise (Trottier) Frisbee Badger.
He was a graduate of Traip Academy, Kittery, Maine, Class of 1947, and the Burdett Accounting School in Boston, Mass.
He was a Pepperidge Farm Distributor in the area for 32 years.
He was a communicant of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth; a member of St. John’s Lodge No. 1 F&AM of Portsmouth; the Propeller Club of Portsmouth; and the Portsmouth Yacht Club.
Besides his wife, survivors include six children Helaine Frisbee Buskin and her husband Richard of Brownfield, Maine; John Byron Frisbee of Kittery Point, Maine; Carla Frisbee Morin and her husband Thomas of Laconia, N.H.; Sheryl Mercer of Rye; Sandra Brien of North Hampton; and Walter Coffen of San Jose, Calif. Also, 10 grandchildren, Todd Fenoff of North Haverhill, Tiffany Mercer of Salisbury, Mass, Rachel and Robert Morin of Laconia, Jeannie Buskin of Brownfield, Maine, Kristina Coffen of Rye, Nicole and Alana Brien of North Hampton, Sarah and Brian and Coffen of San Jose, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 101 Chapel St., Portsmouth on Friday at 11 a.m. Friends are invited.

Florence Gerrish
ROCHESTER - Florence Nye Gerrish, 83, formerly of 360 Chestnut Hill Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital.
Born June 3, 1907 in Island Falls, Maine, she was the daughter of Joseph A. and M. Gertrude (White) Nye.
She attended school in Island Falls, graduating in 1924. She then attended Aroostook State Normal School, graduating in the Class of 1926.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers of Strafford County and the State of New Hampshire and has 34 years of teaching. She taught in Sherman Mills, Maine, North Sedgwick, Maine, Nute Ridge, Milton, and Blaisdell’s Corner, Lebanon, Maine. She also taught in Union, Farmington, and Rochester.
Mrs. Gerrish was a seventh degree member of Patrons of Husbandry, a member of Reunion Grange of Union, and Past Master of Nute Ridge Grange No. 316 of Milton.
She was a member and Noble Grand of Minnehaha Rebekah Lodge of Northwood, Evangeline Lodge of East Rochester and a present member of Naomi Rebekah Lodge of Rochester as well as a member of the Eastern Star in Union.
Mrs. Gerrish is a member of the Congregational Church in Rochester.
She was the wife of William E. Gerrish, who died in 1978. She was also predeceased by a brother, Warren Nye of Monroe.
Surviving are her son, Charles J. Gerrish Sr., and his wife Nancy Scruton Gerrish of Rochester; a daughter, Helen Gerrish Braase of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Frances Nye of Rochester; a brother, Rowan Nye of Menasha, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Glenice Nye of Monroe; a grandson, Charles J. Gerrish Jr. and his wife, Tracy Henderson Gerrish of Farmington; a granddaughter, Mrs. Raymond (Ramona) Osborne of Rochester; two great-grandchildren, Christopher J. Chesley Jr. of Lebanon, Maine and Stacy L. Osborne of Rochester and several nieces and nephews.

Evelyn Phillips
COLEBROOK - Evelyn Grace Holden Phillips, 85, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000. She was born Nov. 27, 1914, in Colebrook.
Mrs. Phillips had lived in Stewartstown and Colebrook all her life. She was married to the late Bert Philips for 53 years and together they farmed for many years.
After they left the family farm, Mrs. Phillips lived her dream when she became a licensed nursing assistant in 1970. She worked at the Upper Conn. Valley Hospital in Colebrook where she was affectionately know as "Ma Phillips" and was loved by all who knew her care and compassion.
She leaves nine sons, Richard of Grafton, Vt., Roy of Nashua, Harold of Hancock, Stewart of Whitefield, John of Exeter, Carl of Fitchburg, Mass., Wayne of North Stratford, Stubby of Lancaster, and Michael of Colebrook; seven daughter, Grace Phillips Cross of Sanford, Maine, Carlene Phillips LaBranche of Milton, Samantha Phillips of Manchester, Dory Phillips Goyette of Portsmouth, Dorothy Anne Phillips of Derry, Sue Phillips Normand of Rochester, Donna Phillips Chaloux of Rochester, Nancy Phillips of Colebrook.
She was predeceased by two daughter, Barbara P. Cass and Ellen Phillips. She leaves 51 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly and was loved in return.
Evelyn was a loving wife, dear sweet mom and grandmother, loving and compassionate to everyone she knew.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and noted for her raisin pie.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000 at 9 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Colebrook.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook or the Colebrook Library in her name, to the charity of one’s choice.

Raymond Olin
LITTLETON - Raymond F. Olin, 88, of Littleton, Mass., formerly of Dover, N.H. and Framingham Mass., died on Sept. 18, 2000. Beloved husband of Leona Chioniere Olin of Littleton, Mass. Devoted father of Richard B. Olin and his wife Christine of Marlboro, Mass., and Nancy Olin Olson and her husband Peter of Groton, Mass. Mr. Olin is also survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Born in Bristol, Conn., Mr. Olin was a retired Sales Manager for Judson L. Thompson Co. of Waltham, Mass.

Roger Shorey
YORK, Maine - Roger Emerson Shorey, 76, of Frost Hill Road, York, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Exeter Healthcare in Exeter, N.H. after a long illness.
Born in Portland on August 18, 1924, he was a son of Clifton and Virginia (Emerson) Shorey. He lived in South Berwick and Dover, N.H. before finally settling on the Old Rogers Farm in York.
A graduate of Dover High School, he served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps and U. S. Air Force from 1942-1949. He served in the Southwest Pacific for two and a half years and attained the Rank of Sergeant.
He has been well known for his ready wit and jovial nature. He was a Charter Member of the York Militia and also a Captain. He has been much in demand as an entertaining speaker on Colonial topics for school children and adults alike. He was a life member of the South Berwick Rod and Gun Club. He became an expert on evaluating guns and was noted for building flintlocks and cannon and also collecting and repairing many types of rifles and handguns. He was a faithful worker at Moore Business Forms for thirty five years as a machinist and prototype maker. He looked foreword to many hunting trips with his friends to Rangley. He also went lobstering with Dan Donnell for several summers.
Roger loved the outdoors, animals and mostly his family especially his loving wife of 53 years, Lillian Rising Shorey. He always supported his children and is survived by his son, John Shorey of New York City, N.Y.; his daughters, Kathleen and David Avery of Eliot, Sharon Gerald of Eliot, Susan O’Brien of Michigan, and Christine Shorey of Durham, N.H.; a sister Jeanne Adams of Derry, N.H.; two brothers, Kenneth Shorey of Rollinsford, N.H., Elwin Shorey of Virginia; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister Carole Robinson Gosselin and a niece Lisa Shorey Saurman.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 13, 2000 at 4 p.m. in the First Congregational Church of Eliot on State Road.

Margaret Whittemore
ELIOT - Margaret Whittemore, 83, of Eliot died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at the York Hospital. Mrs. Whittemore was born July 20, 1917, in Lawrence, Mass., the daughter of Joseph and Mary Jame (Lanigan) Laycock. Mrs. Whittemore was a devoted wife and mother who took a great deal of pride and love in her home and family. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and cooking.
Mrs. Whittemore is survived by her husband of 65 years, Mr. Elwood Whittemore of Eliot, whom she married in October of 1935 in Salem, N.H.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William (Patricia) Shapleigh of Eliot and Ann Marie Tamburri of Swift Water, Pa., plus her beloved five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great, great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one brother, Edward Laycock and two sisters, Gertrude Ammon and Ann Laycock.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home, 21 Rogers Road, Kittery. The Rev. Father Real Nadeau of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Kittery will officiate.
A graveside committal service and burial will follow in Brooks Memorial Cemetery in Eliot.
Visitation hours will be held Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

Joseph Adamski
BEDFORD - Joseph Alexander Adamski, 75, of 11 Old Coventry Lane, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at his home after and extended illness.
He was born March 20, 1925, in Exeter, the son of Margaret (Novak) Adamski of Exeter and the late Ignacy Adamski.
He was a graduate of Exeter High School, Class of 1943, he then entered the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Wave at Omaha Beach in Normandy. He was called back for a second tour of duty for the Korean Conflict.
After the war, he graduated from N.H. Tech where he received a degree in engineering. He was employed as an electrical engineer with M.I.T. with the Lincoln Labs.
For over 20 years, he worked at Rome Labs at Hanscomb Air Force Base growing crystal in the research and development department.
He was the owner and President of the Parke Mathematical Co. of Lowell, Mass. until her retired two years ago. He held several patents in dealing with electronic. He was listed in the Who’s Who of American Scientists. He had published many technical papers and spoke at many international conferences. After residing in Framingham, Mass. for 46 years, he moved to Bedford one years ago.
His hobbies included collecting model trains and sail boating.
He was predeceased by his former wife of 43 years, Peggy (Ciccola) Adamski, who died in 1991.
In addition to his mother who is 99, he is survived by his wife, Christa (Priemel) Adamski of Bedford; two daughters and their husbands, Carleen and Steven Korkin of Bedford, Robin and Richard Arrighi of West Palm Beach, Fla; four grandchildren, Jason Korkin and Matthew Korkin both of Bedford, Ryan Arrighi and Rachael Arrighi both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four stepchildren, Jean Maurice, Brenda Barrows, James Barrows and Michael Barrows; one brother, Theodore Adamski of Exeter; and one sister, Pearl Lancaster of Wells, Maine; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St. Exeter. Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Friday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham, Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the National Kidney Foundation.
Rose Cote
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - Rose Cote, 99, formerly of 328 Hayward St., Manchester, died Jan. 28, 2001, in Eden’s Park Nursing Home, Glens Falls, N.Y., after a lengthy illness.
Born in Manchester on Feb. 17, 1901, she was the daughter of Edgar and Louise (Devault) Gosselin. She lived most of her life in Manchester. In 1993, she moved to Enfield Conn., to live with her son and relocated to New York in 1998.
Mrs. Cote worked many years in the shoe factory. She was a self employed seamstress and an instructor. She also taught evening classes in sewing for many years at Manchester West High School.
She enjoyed singing, playing organ, gardening, travel and cooking. At the age of 70 she started oil painting and ceramics.
She was married to Clarence Cote, who died in 1974. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lorena Moreau, who died in 1996.
Family members include a son Roland L. Cote of Pottersville, N.Y. six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Roy of Manchester and Jeannette Batchelder of New York; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. in Phaneuf Funeral Home & Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 9 a.m. in St. Augustin Church. Burial will be in St. Augustin Cemetery.
Norman Howcroft
NEWMARKET - Norman R. Howcroft, 78, of Spring Street, died Jan. 30, 2001, at the Exeter Hospital.

Sarah Kimmons
PORTSMOUTH - Sarah R. Kimmons, 67, widow of Emmanuel Tubbins Sr., of 40 Bedford Way died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
She was born in Gardo, Alabama on Feb. 27, 1933, the daughter of Ed and Jessie Mae (Goings) Cooks.
Mrs. Kimmons was formerly employed for Edgewood Center in Portsmouth and the Dover Rehabilitation Center as a certified nurse’s aide.
Survivors include her children, Dortha Sykes of Portsmouth, James Townsend of Somersworth, Susie Young Clooney of Dover, Edwin Emmanuel Tubbins of Dover and Sonnita Kimmons of Tampa, Fla; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Edna R. Cohill of Los Angles, Calif.; two brothers, Roy Cooks and Lloyd Cooks, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church, Peverly Hill Road, Portsmouth, on Thursday at 11 a.m. Friends invited. Visiting hours will be held at the Church one hour prior to the services from 10 to 11 a.m. Arrangements by J. Verne Wood Funeral Home.
Dorothy Lamothe
FALL RIVER, Mass. - Dorothy I. (Landry) Lamothe, 89, wife of Lionel "Leo" A. Lamothe, of Fall River, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001.
She was born Sept. 27, 1911, in Natick, R.I. daughter of Alfred and Marie (Rousseau) Landry.
She had been a homemaker all of her life.
She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Parish all of her life and was a member of its Ladies of St. Anne’s Sodality.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Vivian Pelletier of Portsmouth, N.H.; one son, Gerard "Jerry" Lamothe of Tiverton, R.I.; four grandchildren, Guy and Victoria Pelletier, Matthew Pelletier, and David and Kimberly Lamothe; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Germaine Trenholme.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral will be held on Friday at 8:45 a.m. from the Boule Funeral Home, 615 Broadway (Rte. 138), Fall River, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
Flowers are welcome or donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to Visiting Nurse Association of Southeastern Massachusetts, 502 Bedford St. Fall River, MA 02720. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
