Dorothy MacDougal

WESTFORD, Mass. - Dorothy (Huber) MacDougal, 91, of 101 Churchville, Arlington, Mass. died at her daughter’s residence in Westford on Jan. 30, 2001.

She was born in Liberty, N.Y. on Dec. 26, 1909, the daughter of George and Arabella (Phillips) Huber.

She grew up in Liberty, and was a graduate of Liberty High School. Dorothy worked at the local telephone company.

She married Harry MacDougal in 1929 and lived in Ithaca for 10 years. She lived in Atlanta, Ga, Silver Springs, Md. Pittsburg, Penn., and most recently Arlington, Mass. for the past 56 years.

Mrs. MacDougal worked for 15 years as a secretary for Dr. William McCarty of Arlington. She was a deacon and member of the First Baptist Church of Arlington.

Mrs. MacDougal is survived by her children, Richard T. MacDougal of Mendon, Jean Hutchinson of Rochester, Carole M. Perkins of Harvard and Kathleen Simpson of Westford; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harry MacDougal who died in 1963 and by her brother, George Huber.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Badger Funeral Home, Rt. 2A/110, Littleton at 2 p.m.

A visiting hour will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Elizabeth, N.Y in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to your local American Cancer Society.

Arthur Marcotte

SANFORD, Maine - Arthur Zackery Marcotte, 95, of Sanford, Maine, died Jan. 30, 2001, at the Goodall Hospital, Sanford.

Born on March 18, 1905, in St. George Canada, he was the son of Alcide and Alexina Labonte Marcotte, and attended schools there. He moved to the United States at age 15.

Mr. Marcotte worked for S/B Emery Furniture Company as a deliveryman and repairman.

Mr. Marcotte and his wife Simone owned and operated Art’s Variety in Sanford for many years.

He was a very hard worker and always provided for his family very well.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Maurice Louise Veilleux of Sanford, Mrs. Lionel Florence Thibeault of Somersworth, N.H., Mrs.

Normand Irene Dumont of Corona, Calif; a brother, Edmond Marcotte of Sherbrook, Canada; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Mr. Marcotte was predeceased by his wife Simone Ferland Marcotte, who died in 1994; his sons, Robert Marcotte, who died in 1968, and Armand Marcotte, who died in 1999; his brothers, George and Aime Marcotte; and his sisters, Antoinette Trahan, Jeanne Normand, and Alpaide Roy.

Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Friday in St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 10 St. Ignatius St., Springvale.

Mildred Nelson

WOLFEBORO - Mildred L. (Martinetion) Nelson, 76, of Percy Drive, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at the Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.

Born Jan. 20, 1925, in Taylor, Penn., daughter of Daniel and Ella (Butch) Martinetion.

She grew up in Manhattan, N.Y. and has lived in Texas, Florida and Virginia while her husband was in the United States Air Force. Since 1984, she has lived in Wolfeboro.

Prior to marriage Mrs. Nelson was a fashion model, an artist assistant in New York City and attended New York University.

In Wolfeboro she was a volunteer at Huggins Hospital and was a member of Kingswood Country Club playing with the Ladies Nine Holers group for several years.

Survivors include her husband James "Mike" Nelson of Wolfeboro; three sons, Lt. Colonel Douglas A. Nelson of Manassas, Virginia, Steven J. Nelson of Russia, James F. Nelson of Wolfeboro; a brother Myron Martinetion of New Hyde Park, Long Island, N.Y.; two grandchildren Kassandra E. Nelson and Michael J. Nelson.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6 in the Holy Trinity Chapel at West Point Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. Burial will follow in the United States Military Academy Cemetery, West Point, N.Y.

The Baker-Gagne Funeral Homes and Cremation Service of Wolfeboro and West Ossipee are in charge of the arrangements.

Ernest Pelletier

NEWMARKET - Ernest Pelletier, 84, of Lamprey River Park, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at the V.A. Home in Manchester.

Born Sept. 5, 1916 in Newmarket, he was the son of Alex and Rose Alma (Martel) Pelletier. He was a lifelong resident of Newmarket.

During World War II he served in the Army Air Force.

He was employed as a shoe worker at Rockingham Shoe and Sam Smith Shoe, both in Newmarket, and Alrose Shoe in Exeter.

Ernest was a 56-year member of the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Post 67 and the Newmarket Historical Society.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Newmarket.

He was survived by his wife of 30 years, Jackie (Cardin) Pelletier of Newmarket; two brothers, Phillip Pelletier of Columbus, Ohio and Raymond Pelletier of Epping; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket; a Funeral prayer service will be held at 3 p.m. and American Legion services will be held at 4 p.m.

Joseph Stibler

ROCHESTER - Joseph A. Stibler, 78, of Rochester died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 23, 1922, in Bayonne, N.J., Joseph was the son of John and Elizabeth (Hruza) Stibler.

Prior to retiring in 1983, Joseph was, for 25 years, the superintendent of Public Works in Garwood, N.J. During World War II he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the China Theater. Moving to Rochester in 1986, he was a member of First Church Congregational.

His sister Marie and brothers Vincent, John and Edward predeceased him.

Joseph is survived by Edith (Shappell) Stibler, his wife of 54 years; his son, Dr. Robert Stibler of Barrington; three nieces, Dr. Barbara Jean Stibler, Carolyn Martinez and Betty Ann Sokol, and by many other dear family members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at First Church Congregational in Rochester on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in Joseph’s name to the World War II Veteran’s Memorial in Washington, D.C., or to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society. Arrangements are under the care of R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester, N.H. 03867.

Jacqueline Whitehouse

MADBURY - Jacqueline I. Whitehouse, 91, years formerly of Littleworth Road, died Jan. 30, 2001, at the Riverside Rest Home.

She was the widow of Donald L. Whitehouse who died Aug. 8, 1996. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Road, Lee.

Marjorie Woodworth

KITTERY POINT - Marjorie J. Woodworth, 50, of Old Farm Road, died Jan. 29, 2001, at Portsmouth Hospital.

Born April 1, 1950, in Ohio, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Blankinship. Early in her childhood she and her family moved to Dover where she attended school and graduated with the class of 1968 from Dover High School.

Marjorie furthered her education at Plymouth State College and taught kindergarten for a time before becoming a private daycare provider. Marge enjoyed children especially her own, she devoted her life to ensuring that her family was provided with a good and loving home. She was fond of gardening and her trips to Walt Disney Land. She was a member of the Second Christian Congregational Church in Kittery.

She is survived by her husband, Vance Woodworth of Kittery Point; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Blankinship of Rochester; her two children, Adam and Emily Woodworth of Kittery Point; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral will be held from the Second Christian Congregational Church in Kittery on Thursday Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. Friends and family may call today, Wednesday, Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to noon and 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road/US Route 1 By Pass, Kittery, Maine.

Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society 1599 Clifton Road, NE Atlanta, GA 30329. Arrangements are by the J.S.Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Raod, Kittery, Maine.

Regis Bopp

SOMERSWORTH - Regis E. Bopp, 61, of 15 Oak Ridge Drive, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Roberge Funeral Home, 298 High St., Somersworth.

Esther Davis

YORK, Maine - Esther E. Davis, 94, formerly of Old County Road, Cape Neddick died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at the Harbor Home.

She was born in Somerville, Mass. on Jan. 26, 1907, the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Hill) Davis. Miss Davis graduated from Somerville High School in 1924 and the Massachusetts Homeopathic Hospital in 1928.

Her 41-year nursing career included working at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, being a school nurse at the Katherine Gibbs School in New York City, working at the local hospital in Gloucester, Mass., and being a private duty nurse for her cousin in Chestnut Hill, Boston.

Miss Davis moved from Chestnut Hill to Cape Neddick in 1971. She was a member of the Union Congregation Church of York Beach. In her retirement, she volunteered tirelessly for many York organizations including York Hospital, the Union Congregational Church and for 24 years at the York Community Services Association. She was a lifelong fan of Goldenrod and Whispering Sands fudge.

She was predeceased by a brother, Robert E. Davis who died in 1991 and two sisters, Marion Hill Davis and Laura Phoebe Smith.

Survivors include her nieces, Marion Nossiff of Dover, N.H. and Dr. Nancy Davis of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two nephews, Charles Smith of Tivertown, R.I. and Robert F. Davis of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, at the Lucas-Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York. Interment in First Parish Cemetery, York.

There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to York Community Services Association, P.O. Box 444, Cape Neddick, ME 03902.

H. Louise Dustin

LYMAN, Maine - H. Louise Dustin, 66, wife of Edward Dustin, of Lyman passed away peacefully after spending the afternoon with friends on Sunday, April 8, 2001.

She had fought a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Dustin was born on January 11, 1935, in Sanford, the daughter of Richard and Helen Johnson. She was the organist and an active member of the North Waterboro Community Church in North Waterboro. She retired from NYNEX in January 1999, after 18 years of service. She had also been employed as a legal secretary and insurance secretary. Music was an important part of her life. Throughout her life she played for and sang in many music groups including the Johnson Trio Music. Music was her way of sharing her Lord and Savior with her family, friends and community.

She is survived by her husband and her sisters, Betty Ann Hammond of Alfred and Ruth and Jim Miller of Dover, N.H. She is also survived by her first husband, John Ducharme of Valrico, Fla. and her children Fannie-Lynn and Floyd Winship of Berwick, Jack and Denise Ducharme of Madison, Leta and Jim Willis of Hudsonville, Mich., David and Jo-Anne Dustin of Blaine, Minn., Brian and Holly-Anne Dustin of Lyman, and Kathy Dustin of Leesburg, Fla. She also has 16 grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A period of visitation will be Wednesday, April 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 12, at 2 p.m at the North Waterboro Community Church in North Waterboro.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hospice of Saco Valley.

Isoline Fernald

ELIOT, Maine - Isoline "Irma" Fernald, 92, of 33 Farmer Road died Monday, April 9, 2001, at The Homestead in Kittery.

Born in South Berwick, on April 1, 1909, she was a daughter of Lorenzo and Sadie (Knight) Clugh and attended local schools.

She and her husband, Lawrence L. Fernald, settled in Eliot and raised their family. She will be fondly remembered by her dear caring friends at The Homestead, who will greatly miss her, and the cheery songs she was often singing.

She is survived by her children, a daughter, Mildred I. (Fernald) Hoyte and her husband, Walter, of Eliot and her son, Roland, and his wife, Barbara Fernald of Eliot; her grandchildren, Joanne and Jay Muzeroll, Michael and Tracy Hoyt, Thomas and Leslie Hoyt, Dana and Elizabeth Hoyt, Brian Hoyt, Pamela Keefer, and Glen and Karen Fernald; thirteen great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 12, at 10 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot. Family flowers only, donations are requested in her memory to the Homestead Resident Activity Fund, c/o Hannah 459 U.S. Route 1, Kittery, Maine 03904.

Ralph Foster

FARMINGTON - Ralph Henry Foster, 91, a lifelong resident of Farmington, died on Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Sanford Health Care in Sanford, Maine.

Born February 5, 1910, in Farmington, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Bessie M. (Welch) Foster.

A United States Marine Corps veteran, he served as a Sergeant during World War II.

Prior to retirement, he was employed as a toll supervisor for the State of New Hampshire at Dover Point.

Mr. Foster sold Knapp Shoes for over 45 years in Maine and New Hampshire.

He was a 60-year member of Fraternal Lodge No. 71 F. & A.M. of Farmington, a member of the Henry Wilson Grange of Farmington, a life member of the D.A.V. and a 50-year member of the American Legion in Farmington and Member of the Marien Corps League. Ralph was also a member of the Fryeburg Fair Association in Fryeburg, Maine.

He is survived by two nephews, Charles A. Foster Jr. of New Durham and Lawrence Foster of Farmington; a niece, Dorothy Jackson of Peterborough; and several great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held later in the spring at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington. Arrangements are in the care of C.E. Peaslee and Son Funeral Home, 32 Central St., Farmington.

Beverly Kerns

CENTREVILLE, Va. - Beverly Janice Kearns, 72, died of complication to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at Fair Oaks Hospital on Monday, April 2, 2001.

Mrs. Kearns was born in Rochester, N.H. on April 6, 1928, and moved to Fairfax County, Va. in 1950, remaining a longtime Fairfax County resident until her death. She was an active member of Naomi Rebekah Lodge 4 of Rochester, holding several offices during her membership.

Mrs. Kerns had been employed for the last 17 years by LabCorp in Herndon, Va. as a switchboard operator. She was a dedicated employee, working up until 10 days before her death. She was described by her coworkers as "an institution" and "the voice of LabCorp."

She is predeceased in death by her first husband, Robert J. "Jack" Montville, who died in 1977. The marriage ended in divorce. Beloved wife of the late Denny S. Kerns who died in 1987, she was laid to rest beside him at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Va. She is survived by two sisters, Nelta Grant and Eileen Caron of Rochester, N.H.; four daughters, Ivy Montville of Falls Church, Va., Michele Maravas of Centreville, Va. Terry Bailey of Virginia Beach, Va. and Roberta Blackstone of Jupiter, Fla., six grandchildren and many devoted friends.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of a donation to the American Lung Association of Virginia, 9735 Main St., Fairfax, Va.

Services were held at Money & King Funeral Home, Vienna, Va.
