LOWELL, Mass. - Tracy Lynn Byrd, 38, of 569 East Merrimack St., Lowell, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Emerson Hospital, Concord, Mass.
She was born May 13, 1963, in York, Maine, the daughter of Bruce and Shirley (Balentine) Woodward.
She was a 1981 graduate of York High School and a 1985 graduate of the University of Delaware, receiving a bachelor’s degree in art history.
She had been a librarian at the College of Physicians in Philadelphia, Pa., for eight years. She was most recently employed in child care centers in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
She had resided in Pawtucket, R.I., and Providence, R.I., for seven years. She enjoyed arts and crafts, reading, movies and caring for children.
She is survived by her husband of 10 years, Robert J. Byrd of Lowell; her parents, Bruce and Shirley Woodward of York; two sisters, Penny-Jo Phillips of Columbus, Ohio, and Alison J. Thompson of Rochester, N.H.; paternal grandparents, J. Russell and Edith Woodward of York; a niece, Alison Phillips; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside service will be held today at 2 p.m. in the First Parish Cemetery, York Street, York.

Wendy Cavallaro
RYE - Wendy K. Cavallaro, 40, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, of a brain aneurysm.
She was born in Abington, Pa., in August of 1961 and resided for many years in Rye.
She graduated from Fletcher High School in 1978 and the University of Florida in 1982.
She will be remembered for her quiet strength and her intense love and devotion for her family.
She is survived by her son, Brandon Cavallaro; husband, Brian Cavallaro; mother, Charlotte Koutrelakos; a sister, Debbie Darden; uncles, Gregory Koutrelakos and William Koutrelakos; and aunts, Dot Story, Helen Kincaid, Mary Lane and Georgianna Galas.
Her organs were donated to the organ bank.
Gladys Crosby
SANFORD, Maine - Gladys I. Crosby, 84, of 1142 Main St., died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at the Greenwood Center after a long illness.
She was born Nov. 9, 1916, in Rochester, N.H.
She has lived in Sanford for the past few months after moving from South Hiram, where she lived for seven years. She also resided in Farmington, N.H., for some time.
She was employed at General Electric as a machine operator until her retirement.
She was the past president and life member of the American Legion Unit 60, Women’s Auxiliary. She volunteered at the DAV and enjoyed creating blankets and crafts.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Garland of South Hiram; 11 stepchildren; and a nephew, Raymond Whitehouse of Rochester.
She was predeceased by her father, Fred Whitehouse.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Rochester Cemetery.

Wesley Curtis
ROCHESTER - Wesley Merrill Curtis, 58, of Rochester, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital after of long illness of heart disease.
Born Aug. 5, 1943, in New York City, he was the son of Wesley Curtis and Elaine (Dunn) Curtis of California.
He was a loving husband, father and friend to all.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Raylene (Osgood) Curtis; one daughter, Tina Curtis of Rochester; one son, Garry (Marie) Curtis of Gainesville, Ga.; two grandchildren, Katie and Christopher Curtis of Gainesville; his mother, Elaine Curtis of California; two brothers, Lloyd Curtis of Maine and Leyton Curtis of New York; three sisters, Diane Nickerson of Cape Cod, Mass., Sylvia McDaniels of Colorado and Carlotta Bolstad of California.
He was predeceased by his father, Wesley Curtis.
The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie Greenwood
CRESTVIEW, Fla. - Marjorie Greenwood, 88, of Crestview, Fla., died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001.
Born in South Portland, Maine, on June 18, 1913, she was the daughter of Arthur and Etta Blake.
She was educated in South Portland and graduated in 1932.
In December of 1935, she married Erman Kier and had two daughters. In May of 1953, she married Albert E. Greenwood, who passed away June 1989. They had two sons.
She attended St. Mark United Methodist Church in Crestview.
She was a past president of the W.S.C.S. at the Mechanic Falls United Methodist Church in Maine, past president and past district president at the Portland VFW Women’s Auxiliary, secretary of the West Minot Grange for 30 years and Androscoggin Pomona Grange for 25 years.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Campbell of Scarborough, Maine; a daughter, Doris Rice of Lewiston, Maine; two sons, Albert Greenwood and wife, Anita of South Berwick, Maine, and Arthur Greenwood and his wife, Jennifer of Crestview; two stepsons, Kenneth and Donald Greenwood; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister, Doris Campbell; a grandson, Theodore Hall; her husband, Albert E. Greenwood; and daughter, Bertha Holt.
Viewing hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home in Casco, Maine.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m.

Arlene Jackson
YORK BEACH, Maine - Arlene Brown Jackson, 76, of York Beach and Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Clinton, Conn., died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, after a prolonged case of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
She was born in Hudson, Mass., and had resided in Naugatuck, Conn.
She graduated from Southern Connecticut State College with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in reading.
She directed the Reading Center of Mt. St. John’s School for Boys in Deep River, Conn., a residential treatment center for boys with problems.
For 10 years, she and her husband worked for the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, helping to create an extensive nature garden in the Franconia Notch area and helping boys and girls summer camps in their use of the White Mountain National Forest.
Recently, Mrs. Jackson volunteered in Apache Junction, Ariz., to teach reading in an alternative school educational program giving teenage students a second chance to return to the traditional school program.
She was a member of the Union Congregational Church of York Beach and for the last several years directed the creation of an annual quilt created by the ladies of the church.
She is survived by her husband, Philip L. Jackson of York Beach and Meza; three sons, Robert Jackson of Fitzwilliam, N.H., Allan Jackson and David Jackson, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Elizabeth Booth of Lexington, Ky.; three grandchildren, Stephanie Jackson, Keith Jackson and Austin Brooks; one sister, Mildred Brown of Naugatuck.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Union Congregational Church of York Beach.

Norman Rockwell
PORTSMOUTH - CWO Norman H. Rockwell, U.S. Army Ret., 84, husband of Alverta (Santor) Rockwell, of 40 Taft Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
He was born in Roseboom, N.Y., on April 11, 1917, the son of Nicholas and Jenny Rockwell.
He attended the University of Southern Mississippi. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War, retiring after 21 years of service in June of 1959.
After retiring from the U.S. Army, CWO Rockwell had been employed for the University of New Hampshire, retiring in 1975, the Portsmouth High School and became a licensed realtor and a master barber.
He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church where he was very active in the Vestry. He was a member of the Camp Knox Lodge No. 919 F&AM in Fort Knox, N.Y., Scottish Rite in New York and the AARP.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially loved gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alverta; a son, Gazy Rockwell of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a daughter, Jo Ann Manning of Portsmouth; a daughter-in-law, Betty Jo Rockwell of Jackson, Miss; four grandchildren, Matthew Rockwell of Jackson, Katherine Peyser and Jennifer Peyser of Portsmouth and Allison Manning of Newmarket; one great-grandson, Olen Rockwell of Jackson.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church, Lafayette Road, Portsmouth. Friends invited.
A memorial visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. with Masonic services by St. John’s Lodge No. 1 F&AM in Portsmouth at 6:45 p.m. Family flowers only.

Anthony Rollins
DOVER - Anthony Francis Rollins, 86, of Dover, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.
He was born June 14, 1915, in York, Maine, the son of Edward F. and Gladis M. (Smith) Rollins.
He attended local schools and spent time living in the South Berwick and Eliot, Maine, area, later moving to Dover, where he resided since 1953.
He worked in the road construction business, having worked over the years for various companies as a union employee. Before retiring, he worked as a truck driver for Sprague Fuel Oil Company.
He belonged to the Teamsters Local Union No. 633 and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 98. He enjoyed being active with the senior centers of Dover and Rochester, as well as the senior center in South Berwick. He was active in the Widows Support Group of Dover.
His leisure activities included golfing and traveling around the country. He spent winters in Florida.
In November 1934, he married the former Geneva Goodrich in Eliot.
His wife predeceased him in 1995. He was also predeceased by two daughters, three brothers, one sister and four grandchildren.
He is survived by four children, Jane Perkins of Cape Neddick, Maine, Ronald Rollins of Dover, Bruce Rollins of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Cheryl Dellolio of Dunnellon, Fla.; three brothers, Norman of Newfield, Harold of Kittery, Maine, and William of Eliot; four sisters, Ethel Hubbard of Kittery, Evelyn Peabody of New Port Richey, Fla., and Lena Morse and Madeline Huntress, both of Eliot; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by his many friends throughout the area.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home, 21 Rogers Road, Kittery. The Rev. Robert Cole, pastor of the Bethel Christian Church in North Berwick, Maine, will conduct services.
A graveside committal service and burial will follow in Brooks Memorial Cemetery, Eliot.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Geraldine Stanley
HAMPDEN, Maine - Geraldine L. Stanley, 76, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at her residence.
She was born July 2, 1925, in Linneus, the daughter of Edward and Nellie B. (Kitchen) Ivey.
She was a member of the Court St. Baptist Church in Houlton.
She was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed a lifelong love for baking and sharing it with others. Her family and friends will miss her homemade goodies for which she won many blue ribbons at the Bangor State Fair.
Throughout her life, she was involved in many community service organizations.
She was a retired waitress from Pilots Grill. Many will remember her smile.
She is survived by one brother, Henry Ivey and his wife, Marcinne of Houlton; five children, Donna Miller-Larson and her husband, Robert Larson of Augusta, Charlotte and her husband, R.W. "Duke" Nolte of Hampden, Walter P. Stanley III of New London, Conn., Wendy Stanley Jones and her husband, H. Turner Jones III of Exeter and William I. Stanley of Winthrop; 11 grandchildren, Louie Jr., Scott and Troy Collins, Heidi Hickey, Kelle Choate, Nicole Pishkur, Shannon and Michael Stanley, Stephani, Chris and Catherine Ivey Jones; 11 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor, Lindsey, Zachary and Jordan Collins, Chelsey, Jake, Shane, Ryan and Meredith Hickey and Jada Choate; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister, Christine, and one brother, John.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.

Melvin Williams
ROCHESTER - Melvin F. Williams, 63, of 29b River St., died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital following a period of failing health.
Born Nov. 12, 1937, in Ossippee, he was the son of Jefferson and Cora (Dunn) Williams.
He worked as a mechanic for over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. He also worked for eight years as a bartender.
He was a member of the Club Victoire in Rochester, the Rochester Elks 1393, American Legion Post 7, Rochester VFW and the Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Prest of Appleton, Maine, and Gayle Harper of Virginia Beach, Va.; one son, David Williams of Hudson, Fla.; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Blanche Valley and her husband, Norman of Milton Mills and Daisy LaChance of Rochester.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. on in the chapel of the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester.
