Jean Stevens
LACONIA - Mrs. Jean S. Stevens, 75, formerly of 25 Union Ave., died at the St. Francis Home on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002.
Mrs. Stevens was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Howard and Isabel (Horne) Sturtevant. She was a LPN and worked for the St. Francis Home for 12 years. She retired in 1992.
Mrs. Stevens was a past parishioner of St. Cecelia’s Church of Wolfeboro. She enjoyed knitting, reading, movies and history.
Survivors include eight daughters, Valerie Thomas of Illinois, Daphne LaPlante of Concord, Elizabeth Gelinas of New Durham, Stephanie Hughes of Laconia, Penelope Garrett of Wolfeboro, Gretchen Stevens of Laconia, Amy Somerville of Laconia and Melissa Daigle of Gilmanton; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother, Isabel Connor of Laconia; one sister, Ann Bourgeois of Florida; one niece and two nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish in Belmont. Burial will follow in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.

Sharon Cunningham
SOMERSWORTH - Sharon Elaine Cunningham, 53, of 9 Plaza Terrace, died Sunday March 31, 2002, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover after a sudden illness.
She was born Feb. 25, 1949, in Rochester, the daughter of William and Annette (Pouliot) Ernie. She attended Somersworth schools graduating from Somersworth High School, Class of 1967.
Ms. Cunningham had been employed at Somersworth Wood Heel Co. and later at St. Anne Home in Dover as a nurse’s aid.
Survivors include her father of Tilton; two daughters, Christina Laughton of Somersworth and Lisa Norton of Dover; five grandchildren; a sister, Sheila Roberge of Somersworth; and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Roberge Funeral Home, 298 High St., Somersworth.
Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Norman Hayes
ROCHESTER - Norman Hayes, 92, of 46 Old Dover Road, died Tuesday April 2, 2002, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 16, 1909, in Rochester, the son of George and Nellie R. (Blazo) Hayes.
Mr. Hayes served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked at the Wyandotte Mill for 34 years and at Simplex in North Berwick, Maine. His family owned the Hayes Hotel in Rochester for many years.
Mr. Hayes was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Rochester, the American Legion Post No. 7 and the Lodge of Elks No. 1393 of Rochester.
He enjoyed horse racing, baseball and bowling.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Virginia (Carey) Hayes of Rochester; one sister, Eleanor Hayes of Williamsburg, Va.; three nieces, Eleanor Jane Belanger of Williamsburg, Va, Virginia Perry of West Virginia and Joanne Pallas of East Rochester.
He was predeceased by 11 siblings.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Rochester. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, Franklin Street, Rochester.
Robert Josselyn Sr.
FREMONT - Robert F. Josselyn Sr., 70, of Leavitt Road, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, Easter Day, at the SunBridge Rehabilitation Center in Exeter after a short illness.
He was born March 14, 1932, in Camden, Maine, the son of Horace and Leotia (Peirce) Josselyn.
He grew up in Camden and graduated from Camden High School, Class of 1950. He worked at the Knox Woolen Mill in Camden until he moved to Exeter in 1965. He worked for Milliken’s Industries of Exeter for many years and later for Shaftmaster.
In October 1966, he married Florence (Taylor) Josselyn. They spent the last 16 years in Fremont.
He was predeceased by two sons, James Leonard and Kenneth Leonard.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Josselyn of Fremont; four daughters, Mrs. Doug (Pamela) Stewart of Warren, Maine, Mrs. David (Brenda) Erlach of California, Cheryl Josselyn and her husband, Ronald Eldredge of Exeter and Mrs. LeRoy (Cynthia) Jameson of Warren; three sons, Robert Josselyn Jr. and his wife, Grace, of Hope, Maine, Mark Josselyn and his wife, Diane, of Hampton and Carl Leonard of Florida; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Barbara) Carver of Camden, Mrs. Milton (Beatrice) Winslow of Rockland and Mrs. Wilbur (Jessie) Jacobs of Hope; several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. Burial will be in the Leavitt Cemetery, Fremont.

John Leary
PORTSMOUTH - John Francis Leary, 86, of 24 Hampshire Road, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at the Edgewood Centre.
Born in Portsmouth on April 13, 1915, he was a graduate of St. Patrick School in 1929 and Portsmouth High School, Class of 1935.
He was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Shop 06 for 36 years before his retirement.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 140 and St. Mary Assembly 4th degree since 1944. He was active in the K of C bingo operation since it’s beginning in 1953.
He was an active member of the Community Council of Senior Citizens and worked at their bingo operation and volunteered in other activities including production of the Voice. He was also a member of Eldercare Volunteer Corps and RSVP, receiving awards for his service.
An avid circus and railroad fan, he was a member of Circus Fans Association of America in addition to being a life member of NARFE.
He loved to play cribbage. He was an active member of St. James Church, a longtime member of the Men’s’ Retreat Guild and was instrumental in raising funds to help build St. Catherine of Siena Church.
He was predeceased by his wife, Olga (Johnson) Leary, in 1969 and a brother, Thomas Leary.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. James Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St.

James McBride
ROCHESTER - James L. "Jim" McBride, 81, of Rochester, formerly of Melrose, Mass., died Sunday, March 31, 2002.
He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II and a member of Rochester American Legion Post No. 7.
He was the beloved husband of Daisy M. (Kelly) McBride; devoted father of Jayne and Donald Robblee of Boiling Springs, Pa., Michael and Patricia McBride of Rochester, Alice and Brian Denger of Biddeford, Maine, Timothy McBride of Wakefield and Ellen McBride of Saugus, Mass.; loving grandfather of Julie Robblee, Elizabeth McBride, Rachel, Matthew and Patrick Denger, Ryan and Dina Metivier, Lori McBride; great-grandfather of Jada Taylor; brother of Vera Breslin of Chelsea, Mass., Evelyn Paczkowski of Merrimack, Ruth Mosey of Burlington, Mass., and Elaine Nevin of Roslindale, Mass.
Funeral services will be held from the Philip X. Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St., Melrose at the Wakefield line on Thursday at 11 a.m. A funeral mass will be held in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield, at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Albert Stanley Moore
DOVER - Albert "Stanley" Moore, 90, of Durham Road died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at the SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation Center in Rochester.
Born in Epping on Dec. 31, 1911, the son of John Albert "Bert" and Lucy (Dobson) Moore and has lived in Dover for over 60 years.
He worked for his father as a lumberjack until 1964. Then he worked for Moore Business Forms on Broadway until his retirement. He also worked in the Jensen’s Mobile Home Park across the road from his home for several years making porches, winterizing and opening-up these mobile homes.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nellie (Lewis) Moore of Dover; three sons, Robert Moore of Danville, Thomas Moore of South Berwick, Maine, and James Moore of Bow; a daughter, Gail Barzelay of York, Maine; 12 grandchildren, including Lynn Dupuis, who took care of him during his last illness; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Mikan of Epsom and Catherine Lemieux of Dover; a brother, Donald Moore of Madbury; nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Monahan, pastor of the Dover Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Freemont Cemetery.

Geraldine Sheehan
HAMPTON - Geraldine "Gerry" P. Sheehan, RN, 77, of 761 Ocean Boulevard, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at her home after a period of failing health.
She was born in Methuen, Mass., Feb. 13, 1925, the daughter of Walter J. and Florence E. (Harris) McGrail. She had resided in Hampton since 1972 coming from Lawrence, Mass. She was a 1943 graduate of Lawrence High School and served many years on the Class Reunion committee.
During World War II, she joined the U.S. Army’s Cadet Nurse Program receiving her nursing degree with the February 1947 class of the Saint John’s Hospital School of Nursing in Lowell, Mass.
She worked at the Mary Fletcher Hospital in Burlington, Vt., the Moline Public Hospital in Moline, Ill., the Hale Hospital in Haverhill, Mass., and the Lawrence General Hospital.
After coming to Hampton, Mrs. Sheehan was a volunteer at the Well Child Clinic in Seabrook and later worked several years for the Seacoast Visiting Nurse Association.
Since 1976 she was part of a Nurses’ Health Study run by Harvard Medical School and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and was a recipient of a 20 year participation award. She was an avid golfer and formed the Thursday morning Women’s Golf League at Rockingham Country Club.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Hampton and was a member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, the Ladies Sodality and the Catholic Women’s Club. For several years she coordinated the transportation needs for the Church’s Outreach Program and from 1990 to 2000, she and her husband ran the Saint Vincent de Paul Society Soup Kitchen on C Street.
Family members include her husband of 53 years, Raymond F. Sheehan; two sons, Kevin M. Sheehan and Neil P. Sheehan all of Hampton; five grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gerry was a very caring person to many, especially as a mother and grandmother, and will be missed by all.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton, on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Juliette Stewart
MANCHESTER - Juliette (Robidoux) Stewart, 82, of Manchester, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at a local health care facility after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Manchester on March 25, 1920, the daughter of Noe and Eva (Ouellette) Robidoux. She was educated in the Manchester school system and was a graduate of Manchester Central High School.
Mrs. Stewart had most recently been employed by Modutec. She had previously been employed by various manufacturing mills in Manchester.
She was a volunteer for the Adult Reading Program. She also loved to sew. She was a communicant of St. Pius X Church.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, James Stewart, who died in 1988.
Members of her family include two sons, Robert G. Stewart of Saco, Maine, and Dr. James A. Stewart of Lee; one daughter, Jeanie T. Boisvert of Bedford; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
Calling hours at the McHugh Funeral Home, 483 Beech St., corner of Hanover St., Manchester, will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral services will be Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in St. Pius X Church at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.

Howard Whitney
OCALA, Fla. - Howard A. Whitney, 80, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Estelle’s Hospice House in Ocala.
He was born in Claremont, N.H., and has resided in the Ocala area since 1999, formerly of Berwick, Maine. He was a retired electronic technician.
Mr. Whitney was a member of First Congregational Church, Ocala, and a member of Masonic Lodge of Northwood, N.H. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Whitney of Ocala; a daughter, Dianne L. Morin of Kingman, Ariz.; a son, Jon E. McKenney of Melrose, Fla.; a brother, Douglas F. Whitney of Claremont, N.H.
He was predeceased by a son, Robert Justin Whitney in 1974.
Irabelle Allen
NORTH BERWICK, Maine - Irabelle S. Allen, 84, of Bauneg Beg Hill Road, North Berwick and formerly of Elm Street, Springvale, died June 8, 2004.
She was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Sanford, the daughter of Ralph and Mildred (Bucklin) Staples and graduated from Sanford High School. She married Ernest C. Allen and shared 51 years of marriage before his death on June 4, 1995.
She was a bookkeeper and helpmate in her husband’s business, Ernest Allen Trucking.
She loved living on the farm and being able to grow their own fruits and vegetables. It was a lot of work, but she relished in the fact she could freeze, can and store vegetables to eat throughout the winter months. She had two days a week where she would bake bread, and was well known for her pickles, cakes and apple pies. Many times, she fed the work crews that were around the garage. She had a soft spot for her animals, especially her dogs. She and her husband enjoyed camping up and down the East Coast and traveling to Florida.
A spiritual and generous woman, she was an active member of her church. Teaching Sunday school, being a member of the Gleaners and missionary council, she was a happy participate. She was a member of the Mousam Lake Grange, the Maine State Granges and the York Pomona.
She held membership with the Order of Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter, Springvale. She will long be remembered for her special card ministry - she made sure anyone that needed a birthday card or special pick me up note, received one. An avid reader, she enjoyed Christian books and biographies.
Survivors include her son, Richard Allen of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; and two daughters, Ernestine "Tina" Allen of Seminole, Fla., and Linda Marx of North Berwick; also, eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 11 at the Pleasant Street Free Baptist Church, Springvale at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Thursday, June 10 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale.
