Angelina Jones

ROCHESTER - Angelina Blanche Jones, 65, of 207 North Main St., died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, her birthday, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Rochester on Nov. 26, 1939, the daughter of Lucien and Blanche (Bolduc) Laurion. She had been a resident of the area her entire lifetime. She was a member and communicant of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Rochester.

Angelina and her family had owned and operated Jones Day Care for more than 40 years and she and her husband were foster parents for many area children. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed cooking. During her recent illness, she found joy in dining in many different restaurants with her family.

Surviving family members include her beloved husband of more than 45 years, Clyde M. "Tiger" Jones of Rochester; her daughters, Lorrine Hartigan and Lena Jones, both of Rochester; a brother, Robert Laurion of Lakeland, Fla.; a grandson, Brandon Hartigan; a great-grandson, Kalib Hartigan; and a niece and several nephews and cousins.

Visitation at H.J. Grondin & Son Funeral Home, 177 North Main St., Rochester will be Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Gonic. It has been suggested that instead of flowers, memorial donations be directed to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833-4806.

Steve Kentris

MADBURY - Steve Kentris, 75, of 277 Littleworth Road, died at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, N.H.

Elsie Koerner

ACTON, Maine - Elsie Elizabeth (Waycott) Koerner, 73, of Fox Ridge Road in Acton, Maine, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at home.

Born March 12, 1931, in Calais, she was the daughter of Manford and Pearl (Allen) Waycott. She resided the past eight years in Acton, having come from Thomaston, Conn.

She was a hard worker all her life. She worked at General Electric as an inspector for about 16 years, and then owned her own business "Donut Cellar and Bar" in Thomaston, until her retirement and move to Maine.

She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Grange in Milton Mills, N.H.

She is survived by her son, George W. Meyer Jr. and grandson, Eric R. Meyer of Southington, Conn.; a brother, Kenneth Allen of Freeport, also numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six
brothers and one sister.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central St., Farmington, N.H. at 11 am. The calling hour is an hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 am. Interment will follow at Milton Mills Cemetery, Milton Mills, N.H.

Ralph Kozler

DOVER - Ralph Kozler, 62, of Dover Point Road, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church in Dover with Father Paul Gregoire, officiating.

Jacqueline Murray

PORTSMOUTH - Jacqueline Murray, 73, of 1363 Islington St., died suddenly on Friday, Nov. 26, 2004.

Born in Isbergues, France on May 12, 1931, she was the daughter of Gino and Gilberte (Boubet) Longo and had been a resident of Portsmouth since 1957.

She was an active member of St. James Church, the Ave Maria Guild, the Women’s Club and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She spent numerous times volunteering with the K of C bingo games.

Her loving husband of 48 years, Frederick C. Murray, died in July of this year. Survivors include her children, William J. Murray of Newington, Catherine F. Murray Houle and husband, Robert M., of Kittery Point, Maine, Colette G. Murray of Epping, and John C. Murray of Sanford, Maine; her granddaughters, Alexandra R. Murray and Abigail E. Murray.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Visiting hours at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Family flowers only please. David Perkins

SPRINGVALE, Maine - David S. Perkins, 72, longtime resident of Springvale, died peacefully with his family by his side at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough, Nov. 26, 2004.

He loved the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and is in His presence.

He was born Oct. 5, 1932, in Buffalo, N.Y., the only child of Irving C. and June (Fischer) Perkins and took a year sabbatical with his family during his senior year, traveling across country. He received his diploma from Kenmore High School in Kenmore, N.Y., and attended Fort Schuyler Maritime Academy at Throgs Neck, N.Y.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1952 and retired following 21 years of active service, obtaining the rank of Training Devices, 1st Class. While stationed in Maine at the Brunswick Naval Air Station, he was active with the local Boy Scouts. He was also an avid stamp collector. He belonged to the Arundel Masonic Lodge 76 and the Order of Eastern Star, Aurora Chapter 190, both of Kennebunkport.

Upon retirement from the Navy, he attended the York County Community College and received an associate of arts degree in business administration. He was employed with the Maine Turnpike in the office maintenance division for a number of years before suffering a stroke in 1987, which left him in a wheelchair for the next 17½ years.

Caregivers at the New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Portland encouraged and taught him to become self-sufficient and independent.

A minor heart attack in February 2003, took away his ability to remain independent and he made the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough his "home away from home." The staff in Unit C not only took excellent care of him, but they also became his extended family.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Connie Perkins of Springvale; two sons, Thomas and wife, Teri (Savoie) Perkins, of Wells; Ralph and his wife, Donna (Vincent) Perkins, of North Berwick; his daughters, Sandra Perkins and companion, Peter Fickett, of Lyman; Sharon (Perkins) Bunker and husband, Dewey, of Gorham; five grandchildren, Shannon Perkins, Melissa (Perkins) Price, David Van Blaricom, Allison Bunker and Brian Bunker; and two great-grandchildren, Hailey South and Joshua Price; his mother-in law, Dorothy Dart of Cape Porpoise, also survives him.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Janice Marion Carter; and by his grandson, Joshua Fischer Perkins.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, Nov. 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, Dec 1 at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Pastor Stan Rockafellow, officiating. Burial will be private.

Vance Stitham

KITTERY, Maine - Vance L. Stitham, 69, of 6 Happy Lane, Kittery, Maine., died Nov. 27, 2004 at his residence.

A period of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at The J. S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Rd., Kittery, Maine, where a funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Brooks Memorial Cemetery in Eliot, Maine.

If desired, donations may be made in his memory to The Kittery Youth Connection, 10 Shapleigh Rd., Kittery, ME. 03904.

Robert Tuttle

LEE - Robert L. Tuttle, M.D., 82, of Wednesday Hill Road, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at his home in Lee.

He was born in Boston, Mass. on July 26, 1922.

A 1939 graduate of Dover High School, he received his BS in biology from the University of New Hampshire in 1943, and he graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, Rochester, N.Y., M.D. in 1947.

In 1942, he married Dorothy (Meyer) Tuttle. She predeceased him in 2000.

He had a long and distinguished career in medicine.

He served as a lieutenant in the Medical Corps, USNR, Naval Medical Research Institute at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., from 1952-1954.

In 1950, he became an instructor of microbiology and immunology at The Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, N.C. He advanced to Assistant Professor, Department Chair in 1954, Associate Professor, Assistant Dean and then Academic Dean in 1969.

He served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston from 1970-1975. He was Dean there from 1975-1981. He was Regional Dean at Texas Tech University School of Medicine at El Paso from 1981-1984.

After retiring in 1984, he and his wife moved to Lee, and he joined the UNH Marine Docent Program in 1986, choosing as his area of concentration the natural and human history of the Isles of Shoals. He had conducted tours, presented slide/talk programs and served as guest lecturer on the Isles of Shoals. He was the founding president of the Isles of Shoals Historical and Research Association 1992-1994.

He had been a member, consultant and chairman of several medical groups and committees.

He is survived by many close friends.

Private burial services were held in Lee Hill Cemetery, Lee. Next year there will be a Celebration of His Life at the Isles of Shoals.

Sylvette Vachon

ROCHESTER - Sylvette V. Vachon, 77, formerly of 140 Brock St., died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Berlin, on Aug. 20, 1927, the daughter of Philip and Marie Rose (Neault) St. Germain. She moved to the Rochester area in 1945. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Rochester.

She worked many years for both General Electric in Somersworth and IMC Corporation in Rochester, prior to her retirement. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who particularly enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers and yard sales. Her German shepherd, Buddy, brought her tremendous joy and companionship.

Her husband of over 51 years, Normand W. Vachon, died in 2003.

Family members include two sons, Nelson N. Vachon of Milton and Rickie R. Vachon and his wife, Terrie, of Lyman, Maine; a sister, Gloriette Boucher of Dover; four grandchildren, James Vachon, Stacie Chasse, Lynn Perkins and Laurie Hamann; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation at H.J. Grondin & Son Funeral Home, 177 North Main St., Rochester, will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Rochester. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Daniel Fisher
ROLLINSFORD - Daniel Maurice Fisher, 54, of 323 Green St. died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at his residence.

He was born April 4, 1950, in Dover, the son of Lewis J. and Clara Ruth (Rappaport) Fisher. He was a graduate of Berwick Academy and attended the University of New Hampshire and Plymouth State College, class of 1972.

Daniel was a self-employed real estate developer. He was the owner and operator of the Tenerifee Mt. Development Company, retired.

He was an avid reader, enjoyed computers, sports, gardening and loved his cats.

He is survived by three daughters, Victoria Fisher of Rollinsford, Abigail Fisher of Coconut Creek, Fla., and Jacqueline Fisher of Dover; a brother, Atty. Robert E. Fisher of Dover and a sister, Atty. Fredda (Fisher) Wolf of Lewiston, Maine.

Funeral services will be held today, Monday, Dec. 27, at 2 p.m. at Temple Israel, 513 Sixth St., Dover, with the Rabbi Lev Baesh, officiating. Burial is at the Forest Glade Cemetery, Somersworth.

Relatives and friends may attend Shiva at 7 p.m. today and Tuesday at Atty. Robert and Marjorie Fisher’s residence, 23 Hillcrest Drive, Dover.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Temple Israel, P.O. Box 254, Dover, NH 03820.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, Dover.

Mary Frances Hambrook

MEREDITH - Mary Frances Reeves Hambrook died peacefully at her home with her family on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, from complications of congestive heart failure.

Born in Tokyo, Japan, on June 20, 1927, to Howell Hiram and Justina Leticia (Smith) Reeves, she grew up and attended schools in Schenectady, N.Y. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School and attended Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

She spent many years raising her eight children and for 18 years she was assistant librarian at the Samuel Wentworth Library in Sandwich. She was the Sandwich Central School’s librarian for 12 years, where she inspired many students to become readers. She was also the assistant town clerk for a number of years.

She was an avid hiker with the Over the Hill Hikers from Sandwich and completed the New Hampshire 4,000-footer list twice and the "O.T.H.H. 52 With a View" for the Top 100 in New Hampshire.

She was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She was a founding member and past president of the Sandwich Sirens, Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a member of the Sandwich Historical Society and was a past membership secretary. She also worked as the public announcer at the Sandwich Fair for many years. She enjoyed cross country skiing, quilting, walking, swimming, tennis and spending time with her family, especially playing card games with her children and grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed life, people and seeing the Red Sox win the World Series.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Francis G. (Gerry) Hambrook; six daughters and two sons: Sue Greene and husband Bill, Jim Hambrook and wife Cindy and Abby Hambrook, all of Sandwich; Molly Seaver and husband Howard of McDaniel, Md.; Kathy McDonald and husband Dan of Fryeburg, Maine; Patty Kermoian and husband Kip of Haines, Alaska; Bridget Barker and husband Tom of Portsmouth; and Mike Hambrook and wife Debbie of Barrington; 15 grandchildren: Evvy, Herbie, Erin, Brianna and Trevor Greene; Emma and Alicia McDonald; Maggie, Sam and Timothy Barker; Corey, Patrick and Laura Hambrook; and Ryan and Kate Hambrook; sister-in-law, Lucille Reeves of Cleveland, Ohio; brother-in-law, retired Capt. Robert B. Wood, USN, of Arlington, Va.; and sister-in-law, Margaret MacDonald of Vernon, Conn. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Charles Reeves and her sister Eileen Wood.

Mary Frances and her family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Alan Rosenfield and his staff for nearly 20 years of professional loving care.

Donations may be made in her name to the Sandwich Fire & Rescue Assoc. of Sandwich.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Mayhew Funeral Home in Meredith. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, Meredith, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Richard Thompson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Vittum Hill Cemetery, Sandwich.

Robert Major

TEWKSBURY, Mass. - Robert R. Major, 55, an avid sportsman and outdoors man, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, N.H. He was the husband of Marie L. (Connolly-Gath) Major, with whom he had celebrated a 12th wedding anniversary this past Feb. 14.

ROBERT MAJOR
Sheet metal mechanic, avid sportsman and outdoors man
He was born in Manchester, N.H., Oct. 4, 1949, a son of Louis J. and Rachel (Gelinas) Major. He was raised in Manchester, and attended West End Memorial High School. He lived in Dracut, Lowell and Nashua, N.H., before moving to Tewksbury Center five years ago.

He was employed as a sheet metal mechanic for Precise Industries in Lowell.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Kyle Major of Manchester; two stepdaughters, Lisa and her husband, Kevin Frontain, of Tewksbury,
Donna and her husband, Robert Rocco, of Lunenburg; a sister, Simone Major of Rochester, N.H.; seven grandchildren, Cody, Zachery, Katelyn, Lauren and Lindsey Frontain, Brody and Faith Rocco; several nieces, nephews and a grandniece. He was also brother of the late Roland Major.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, at 10 a.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of Dewey and Main streets, Route 38, Tewksbury Center. Call (800 or 978) 851-2950. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. In the funeral home. Burial will be in Tewksbury Cemetery.
