Richard Barron
FARMINGTON - Richard E. "Rich" Barron, 46, of Spring Street, died Feb. 12, 2004, at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Boston, Mass., on Feb. 17, 1957, the son of Emmons W. and Joann (McLaughlin) Barron.

He was a 21 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having enjoyed the traveling aspects of a military life.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Boston-Maine AirLines at Pease International Tradeport as an aircraft mechanic.

He was a graduate of Weymouth South High School in Weymouth, Mass.

He was an avid guitar player, enjoyed hockey, playing on Air Force teams, his favorite pro team being the Boston Bruins. An avid outdoorsman, he loved going to his cabin in Maine to spend time fishing with his sons. He was an antique car buff, owning a 1955 Chevy.

He was active in the NCOA while in the service, then in the American Legion.

Members of his family include his mother, Joann (McLaughlin) Wood of Dennysville, Maine; his wife, Jeanne (McFarland) Barron; two sons, Erik Richard Barron and Timothy Raymond Barron, all of Farmington; his beloved dog, Bruin; his brothers, Donald and Michael Barron of Weymouth, Mass.; his sisters, Debra Barrett and Tammy Campbell, both of Weymouth; Christina Reeves of Richmond, Va., and Susan Avedissian of Middleboro, Mass.; a longtime friend, Richard Prouty of Dennysville, Maine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday from 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover, N.H. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the New Hamspire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H.

The family suggests donations to the DAV, P.O. Box 5778, Portsmouth, NH 03802-5778 to assist local veterans.

Robert Carlson

ROCHESTER - Robert A. Carlson II, 71, of 23 Briar Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Riverside Rest Home following a period of failing health.

Born Nov. 2, 1932 in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late Robert and Charlotte (Blais) Carlson Sr. He worked as a tool and die designer for Continental Tool Co. for several years.

He loved attending flea markets and antiquing. He also enjoyed teaching young machinists his trade.

Members of his family include his son, Robert A. Carlson III of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Terry Carlson of Rochester, and Susan Belanger of Milton; five grandchildren, Joshua Carlson of Derry, Timmy and Justin Belanger, both of Dover, Rebekah Mahoney of Raymond, and Donald Carlson of Rochester; and one great-grandson, Elijah Mahoney of Raymond.

He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Kelley) Carlson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Joanne W. at Riverside Rest Home and to the Seacoast Hospice.

Burial will be in the spring at St. Mary Cemetery, Franklin Street, Rochester, N.H.

Memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 106 North Road, Northwood, NH 03833.

Arrangements are under the care of the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester, N.H.

Diana Coyne

LEE - Diana M. Coyne, 62, of Evergreen Terrace died Feb. 13, 2004 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, Newmarket.

Doris Greenier

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Doris Minnie Greenier, 85, of Winter Haven, Fla., died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in Lakeland, Fla. of a heart attack.

A native of Caribou, Maine, she moved to the Winter Haven area in 1987 from Claremont, N.H. She was a retired bookkeeper. She was active in the Shipwreck Harbor Mobile Home Park community in Winter Haven and enjoyed playing bingo. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Winter Haven.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Arnold Greenier, in 1996.

She is survived by her son, Gerald Arnold Greenier and his wife, Sandra, of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; a daughter, Carolyn French and her husband, Ernie, of Alfred, Maine; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was conducted Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Winter Haven, Fla.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 21475, St. Petersburg, FL 33742.

Charles Morrill

SANDOWN - Charles Silas Morrill, 96, of 25 Hampstead Road, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, following a period of failing health.

Born Aug. 8, 1907 in Rochester, he was the son of the late Ernest M. and Florence E. (Bickford) Morrill. He worked as a machinist at General Electric and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Salem. He enjoyed playing harmonica, researching his family geneology and using ham radios. His call sign was W1KCE.

Members of his family include his son, Timothy J. Morrill and his wife, Donna, of Sandown; a grandson, Timothy J. Morrill Jr., of Sandown; one brother-in-law, Arthur Paul Reynolds, of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Naomi (Jacobs) Morrill in 1976; two brothers, Clarence and Frank Morrill; and three sisters, Mabelle Foss, Mildred Thompson and Edith Reynolds.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 at 3 p.m. at the Trinity Assembly of God Church on the corner of the Route 28 Bypass, three quarters of a mile north of the Derry traffic circle.

Arrangements are under the direction of the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester, N.H.

James Shaw

HAMPTON FALL - James Stephen Shaw, 63, of 6 Dodge Road, died peacefully at his home on Thursday morning, Feb. 11, 2004.

Born in Providence, R.I. on Dec. 26, 1940, he was the son of the late William N. and Anne (Hackett) Shaw. He earned his master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a longstanding employee of General Electric in Lynn, Mass., as a mechanical engineer.

A resident of Hampton Falls for nearly 35 years, he was a fishing enthusiast. He especially appreciated his precious granddaughters Emily and Meghan.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jane A. (Noelte) of Hampton Falls; his daughter, Deborah Lynne Shaw; his son Michael D. and his wife, Michelle (Wilt) Shaw. He is further survived by his two granddaughters and his sister Anne St. Pierre.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning, Feb. 16, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, 24 Winnacunnet Road, Hampton, NH 03842. Family and friends are invited to call to the funeral home on Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Interment will take place in the family lot in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hampton Falls, N.H.

In his memory, contributions can be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, 24 Winnacunnet Road, Hampton, NH 03842.

George Strachan

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - George Carol Strachan, 63, formerly of New Hampshire, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004 at Veterans Hospice Medical Center in Hampton, Va.

Born in Rochester, N.H. on July 2, 1940 to Carol Strachan and Madaline Bibeau, he was raised by his foster parents, George and Gertrude Littlefield. He was preceded in death by two close canine companions, Boozer and Tye. He was a contractor and owner of Kuminigans Restaurant and Pub in Milton and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He and his wife were involved with the VFW Post 8393 in Milton.

He is survived by his loving companion and wife of 18 years, Sharon Flood; five children, Wendy Dore of New Hampshire, Lesa Strachan of Massachusetts, Bonnie Theriault of New Hampshire, Douglas Stuver and his wife, Judy, of Virginia Beach, and Christina Paquette and her husband, Brett, of New Hampshire; nine sisters, Caroline Warburton, Audrey Keenan, Arlene Gregoire, Connie Dugal, Jackie LaValee, Mary Twombly, and Shirley Strachan; one half-brother, Norman Bibeau; and 10 grandchildren, Cejay, Jordan, Logan, Tyler, Zack, Brock, Gillian, Reese, Wade and Nathan.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 4, at 7 p.m. at Community Church of Milton. The family will receive friends after the service at the Community Center Hall across the street from the church. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 8393, P.O. Box 575, Milton, NH 03851.

Arrangements are being handled by the Cremation Society of Virginia, Virginia Beach, Va.

Edwin Swett

SARASOTA, Fla. - Edwin (Ed) Swett, 76, of Sarasota, Fla., died Feb. 11, 2004.

Born in Dover, N.H., he was the son of Dorothy and Leon Swett. He came to Sarasota 30 years ago from North Berwick, Maine. He graduated from Hilltop High School in Somersworth, N.H. and also McIntosh College for accounting.

He was a lobsterman in his early life, and served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the war. He was city accountant for the City of Rochester, N.H., then went to work at Baxter Woolen Mill as comptroller. He also worked at GE in Somersworth, N.H. He was a real estate broker and owned his own business as Tee & Ed Real Estate Agency.

He moved to North Berwick, Maine, where he opened the Tee & Ed Restaurant and Rooming House at the Hurd Mansion. He also built several homes in North Berwick under the name of Swett & Letvynchick.

He was a justice of the peace in New Hampshire.

After he moved to Florida he managed Siesta Harbor, Runaway Bay, Lido Towers and the Promenade on Longboat Key.

He had many hobbies, including playing golf, cribbage and bridge, reading, volunteering and carpenter work, dancing and lobstering.

He loved life!

After retiring, he worked tirelessly as a volunteer including cooking at Prospect House, the Food Bank, visiting retirement homes, and with Pets on Patrol with his longtime pet Papillon. He volunteered for many, many other organizations and was very civic minded. He served on the Board of Directors at Lido Surf and Sand and presently serves on the Board at Heritage Oaks.

He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Therese (Tee), three sons, David and his wife, Judy, Michael and Kevin; a daughter, Tracey; a sister, Barbara Simpson; grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves many friends and other family who will miss him very much.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Albert Wozmak

FARMINGTON - Albert E. Wozmak, 67, of Chestnut Hill Road, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at St. Ann Healthcare Center in Dover.

Born in Haverhill, Mass. on Dec. 29, 1936, he was the son of Joseph and Valerie (Grzybowski) Wozmak.

He grew up in Portsmouth and graduated from schools there. He was a longtime resident of Portsmouth and lived in Melbourne, Fla. for several years prior to coming to Farmington area about eight years ago.

Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated several service stations through the seacoast area.

He is survived by one son, Albert L. Wozmak and his wife, Rebecca, of East Lebanon, Maine; one daughter, Cheryl Wozmak of Ohio; several grandchildren including Amanda Wozmak, Chelsea Wozmak and Samantha Wozmak; one brother, Joseph Wozmak and his wife, Jane, of Portsmouth; one sister, Alberta McGowan of Michigan; two special friends, Kendra and Amanda; as well as nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Wozmak; one brother, Richard Wozmak; and one nephew, Robert Joseph Wozmak.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover with the Rev. Tom Coover, Chaplain at St. Ann Healthcare, officiating. Friends are invited to call for one hour prior to the service, from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

Jean Blanchette
NEWMARKET - Jean A. Blanchette, 78, of Mt. Pleasant Street, died April 9, 2004, at her home in Newmarket.

Born June 20, 1925, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of James and Marguerite (Linchey) Griffin.

She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, Class of 1944, and had resided in Newmarket since 1951.

She was formerly employed as a clerk with the Internal Revenue Service.

She was a member of the Newmarket Historical Society, a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, and was an active volunteer at the Rockingham County Nutrition Program, Meals On Wheels, in Newmarket.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard G. Blanchette, who died in 1977 and by her son, Paul Blanchette, who died in 1989.

Survivors include her son, Thomas Blanchette, and his wife, Paula, of Newmarket; three grandchildren, Jeff, Amanda, and Andrea; two brothers, James Griffin of Newburyport, Mass., and Thomas Griffin of Portsmouth; and three nephews and a niece.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church with the Rev. John Finnigan, celebrant.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.

Flowers are acceptable or should friends desire, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Eva Bolduc

DOVER - Eva T. Bolduc, 96, of Dover, died April 7, 2004, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital following a period of declining health.

She was born on April 21, 1908, in Warren, R.I., the daughter of William and Julia Bolduc. She enjoyed dancing, bingo, and crafts. She loved family gatherings and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She owned and operated a nursing home in Kennebunk, Maine in the 1950s. She participated in the Good Old Sports in Rochester and volunteered at the Chamber of Commerce and the Dover Fire Department.

Family members include two sons, Edward Bolduc and his wife, Donna, of Florida, and William Bolduc and his wife, Patricia, of Florida; four daughters, Loretta Robinson of Rollinsford, Claudette and her husband, Linwood Rix, of Dover, Wilma Burns and her husband, Bill, of Dover, and Lorraine Hutchins and her husband, Robert, of Clifton, Colo.; 28 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren, and one cousin. She was predeceased by her husband, William Bolduc, of 46 years.
She is also predeceased by two sons, Raymond and Norman Bolduc.

There will be no calling hours or services.

The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Cummings

NOTTINGHAM - Charles L. Cummings, 76, died April 9, 2004, in Nottingham.

Born May 6, 1927, in Everett, Mass., he was the son of Eli and Meariam (Hudson) Cummings.

A former longtime resident of Everett, Mass., he was a member of the Chelsea Yacht Club, VFW Post 2346 in Saugus, Mass., Palestine Lodge, Local Union #56 Piledrivers and Local Union #25 Engineers.

He was a graduate of Everett High School and worked many years as a construction worker. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth (Bartlett) Cummings, of Nottingham; two daughters, Linda J. Cummings of Tacoma, Wash., and Christian A. Almon and her husband, Robert, of Amesbury, Mass.; three grandchildren, Patrick, Brian, and Danielle Almon, all of Amesbury, Mass.; two sisters, Adele Morris of Oregon and Marjorie DiCicco of N.H.; two brothers, William Cummings of Lincoln, Mass. and Walter Cummings of Malden, Mass.; and nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
