Jeannine McCarn
NORTH BERWICK, Maine - Jeannine V. McCarn, age 59, of Ford Quint Road, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec.13, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 25, 1943, in Rollinsford, a daughter of Gerard and Lumina V. (Poulin) Renaud. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Dover and attended beauty school. Jeannine drove school buses for MSAD #60 for many years.
Jeannine was a very faithful and active member of the Bethel Christian Church in North Berwick, Maine. She loved her family as well as her church family.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Jennifer A. McCarn, in 1985.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Peter McCarn; two sons, Michael and his wife, Sandra, McCarn of Laconia, Timothy McCarn and his wife, Paula DiMarzio of Denver, Colo; a daughter, Mrs. Christopher (Kathleen) Poer of Clarksville, Tenn.; a brother, Regis Renaud of Rollinsford; two sisters, Frances Stephan of Andover, Mass., and Constance Moody of Woodbury, Conn.; five grandchildren, Andrew, Evan, Collin, Rile and Makensie; several nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, Maine. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the Bethel Christian Church, Lower Main Street, North Berwick, Maine, with Rev. Robert G. Cole, Sr. officiating. Interment following in New Town Cemetery in Rollinsford.
Theresa M. Roy
NEWMARKET - Theresa M. Roy, 82, of Bay Road, died April 12, 2003, at her daughter’s home in Newmarket.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Street, Newmarket.

Donald M. Walsh
WAKEFIELD ––– Donald M. "Bud" Walsh of Wakefield, formerly of Stoneham died Friday, April 11, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. Born in Wakefield on Dec. 16, 1922, he was the son of the late Walter H. and Vera (Walsh) Gutro.
Mr. Walsh was a Wakefield High School graduate, Class of 1942. He worked for 33 years at the Sears Co. in Saugus as a salesman. Mr. Walsh was a former member of the Wakefield VFW. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Wakefield. Mr. Walsh was a World War II Army Veteran and had recieved the World War II Victory Medal, a Silver Star and four Bronze Service Star Medals.
He was the husband of the late Marie F. Corbett. Mr. Walsh was the father of June Walsh Russell of Laconia and Joanne M. Walsh of Medford. He was the grandfather of Rebecca and John Russell. Mr. Walsh was the brother of Doris Mueller and her husband, Donald, of Wakefield. He was the brother-in-law of Paul and Sue Corbett of Hampton and Patricia and Ed Parker of Chelsea. Mr. Walsh is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.

Dorothy B. Reagan
MERRIMACK ––– Dorothy B. Reagan, 77, of 21 Forest Drive, Merrimack, died Friday, April 11, 2003, in St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua after a sudden illness.
She was born in Strafford on Nov. 18, 1925, a daughter of the late Laurence and Ethel (Rudd) Brown.
Dorothy graduated nursing school and then became a stewardess for Northwest Orient Airline. She was a R.N. for almost 50 years with many years at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua. After retiring at 70 she enjoyed her family in Merrimack.
She is predeceased by three sisters: Phyllis Goff, Marjorie Mauel, and Shirley Trombley.
Members of her family include four daughters, Coleen Tierney of Laconia, Kimberly Reagan of Merrimack, Jennifer Cleary of Manchester, and Barbara Braslett of Concord; six grandchildren; two brothers, Laurence Brown Jr. of Rochester and Carl Brown of Strafford; four sisters, Georgiena Brown of Schertz, Texas, Carol Owmby of Springfield, Mo., Elaine Trembly of Hopedale, Mass., and Marion Spencer of Canterbury; also several nieces and nephews.
The George R. Rivet Funeral Home in Merrimack is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy B. Reagan, 77, of 21 Forest Drive, Merrimack, died in Nashua, N.H. Friday, April 11, 2003. Walter Leslie Anderson
AMESBURY, Mass. ––– Walter Leslie Anderson, age 85, died April 11, 2003, at the Harborside Healthcare Center in Amesbury.
Born in Amesbury, May 14, 1917, he was the son of the late Christian A. and Ethel M. (Burrill) Anderson and attended Amesbury Public Schools.
He had been employed by Henschel’s Corp., Bailey’s Corp., and retired from Rayteon Corp. in 1978. He entered the United States Army in 1940, having served in Panama, CZ, Oklahoma, Fort Monmouth, N.J., and the European Theater of World War II, where he served as a staff sergeant with the 9th Division of Company C, 60th Infantry.
He was decorated with the Bronze Star, the WWII Victor Medal, the American Defense Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the Combat Infantry Medal. He was a radar crewman, an expert rifle marksman, and an expert TSM gunner. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army on Nov. 3, 1952. He also served in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
After his military discharge, he became an active member of the American Legion. He served as post commander of the Disabled American Veterans’ Post No. 13 of Exeter, N.H., and served as Quartermaster of the Amesbury VFW Post No. 2016. He was proud to organize and participate in many Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day services and parades.
He is survived by three daughters, Gloria Bogannam of Kingston, N.H., Leslie Chunn and husband Steven of New Boston, N.H., and Denise Recupero and husband John of Amesbury; sisters Eleanor M. Anderson of Hampstead, N.H., Bertha J. Wolfsen of N. Hampton, Lois E. Giufridda of Exeter, Beatrice L. Brown of Seabrook, N.H., and Barbara L. Comeau and husband Albert of Haverhill. He leaves behind four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, Norman, Frank, Francis, and Allan; and his siters, Annie, Marjory, Ethel, and Christine "Hazel" Sharkey.
Funeral services are Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Paul C. Rogers and Sons Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, followed by interment in Mount Prospect Cemetery, Amesbury. Barbara Moore
PORTSMOUTH - Mrs. Barbara (Rose) Moore, 80, of 132 Raleigh Way, died peacefully at the home of her daughter, Patricia, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 11, 2003.
Born in Portsmouth on June 5, 1922, she was the daughter of William T. and Laura (Randall) Rose and had attended Portsmouth High School.
She was employed as a secretary at the Portsmouth Junior High School from 1960 until her retirement in 1997.
Mrs. Moore was a communicant of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth.
Survivors include four children, Constance Bushman and her husband, Robert, Patricia Csernelabics, Timothy Moore and his wife, Pat Lacey, all of Portsmouth, and Jane Moore of Newington; six grandchildren, Cheryl Bushman, Michele Vail, Matthew Bushman all of Portsmouth, Timothy Moore, Jr. and his wife, Serina, of Andover, William Moore of Florida and Laura Moore of Dover; seven great-grandchildren, Brittany Bushman, Ryan Bushman, Joshua Bushman, Isaiah Bushman, Cassandra Bushman, and Olivia Vail, allof Portsmouth, and Katlynn Moore of Somersworth; several nieces and nephews; and many dear and devoted friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Mary Brewster and Marvis Rose; a brother, William Rose; a great-grandson, Brandon Rogers; and a beloved son-in-law, Nick Csernelabics.
A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 105 Chapel St, Portsmouth, Monday at 11 a.m. Friends invited.
Burial will be at the Harmony Grove Cemeterya at 1 p.m. At the request of the deceased there will be no visiting hours.

Edwin V. George
BERWICK, Maine - Edwin V. George, 84, of Berry Street died Friday, April 11, 2003, at the Sanford Health Care Facility in Sanford after a lengthy illness. He was the widower of Gertrude (Eccelston) George who died in 2000.
Mr. George was born in New Bedford, Mass., on Sept 2, 1918, a son of Manuel and Emma Vital George. He grew up in Fairhaven, Mass. He was a graduate of Fairhaven High School and the New Bedford Textile School in New Bedford.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served as a Motor Machinist Mate. Following the war, he worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery as a management analyst. He was employed by SEACORE.
Mr. George was a member of the United Methodist Church of Berwick. An active Mason being a member and Past Master of St. Johns Lodge #51 A.F. & A.M. of South Berwick. He was a member of all Scottish Rite Bodies and a member of the Maine Consistory Valley of Portland 32.
He was a member of Kora Shrine of Lewiston and a member of the York County Shrine Club. He also served as Past Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Maine. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10989 and the Charles S. Hatch Post 79 American Legion of Berwick.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude; and a sister, Helen Rodrigues.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Keith (Leslie) Hunt of Monmouth, Maine, and Mrs. Paula Bandouveres of Florence, Mass.; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St. Berwick Wednesday April 16 from 11 to 12 a.m. followed by Masonic memorial service at 12 noon. The funeral service will commence following the Masonic service with the Rev. Dr. Peggy Dunn officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery Berwick. Martha Fortier
DOVER - Martha J. Fortier, 53, the widow of Paul H. Fortier, of 7 Arbor Drive died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital following a brief illness.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover. Pearl Gibbons
ROCHESTER - Mrs. Pearl Carlene (Goddard) Gibbons, 85, of 57 Crystal Springs Park, Somersworth, and formerly of Milan, passed away Friday, July 25, 2003, at the Rochester Manor in Rochester.
Mrs. Gibbons was born in Milan on June 26, 1918, the daughter of Corey and Lois (Durkee) Goddard, and she lived there most of her life prior to moving to the Somersworth area. She was an avid Bingo player.
Members of the family include: three daughters, Thelma Valley of Barrington, Patricia Young of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Peggy Gibbons of Somersworth; three sons, William and Paul Gibbons, both of Dover, and Corey Gibbons of Rollinsford; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granchildren; two sisters, Thelma Bergquist of Milan and Pauline Sweeney of Berlin; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Gibbons Sr.; and her son, John Gibbons Jr.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 28, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Milan with the Rev. Bob Plaisted officiating. There will be no calling hours. The Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin is in charge of thhe arrangements.
Carolyn Godbout
RAYMOND - Carolyn Godbout, 61, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at her son’s home in Raymond after a courageous battle with cancer.
A native of South Berwick, Maine, she was born July 11, 1942, the daughter of the late Edwin and Dorothy(Donahue) Keniston.
She had worked as a barmaid at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Maple Wheadon Post 4479 in Raymond for many years. She was a life member of the ladies auxiliary for post 4479 and was very active in the VFW functions. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, John Flanagan of Raymond; two daughters, Diane Shover of South Berwick, Maine, and Colleen Yergeau of Madbury; four grandchildren; two sisters, Ellen Monahan of Rowley, Mass., and Kathleen Stovall of Parkensburg, W.Va.; a brother, Joseph Michael Keniston of Chesepekee, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond. The Rev. Mike Taylor of St. Joseph’s Church in Epping will officiate. Following the service, there will be a gathering at the VFW Post 4479 Raymond hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary. Samuel Hodgins
DOVER - Samuel M. Hodgins, 63, of Fox Cross Lane, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.
He was born in Concord on Dec. 2, 1939, the son of Elwin B. and Pauline M. (Morgan) Hodgins. Pittsfield was Mr. Hodgins’ hometown for 25 years, and he also lived in Epsom for 12 years, Barrington for 20 years, Plaistow for three years, and then Northwood for the last three years.
He was a former member of the First Congregational Church in Pittsfield and the Bektash Temple in Concord. He also served in the U.S. National Guard.
Mr. Hodgins worked as a c.o. technician for 23 years for Verizon where he retired.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Eva J. (Thibeault) Hodgins of Northwood; two stepdaughters, Carol Hall of Lauderdale, Miss., and Barbara Horrocks of Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Elwin B. Hodgins Jr., of Albequerque, N.M., and Matthew Hodgins of Florida; three sisters, Polly A. Hodgins of Bakersfield, Calif., Ardra Cate of Florida, and Sarah Laro of Pittsfield.

Elsie Mace
PORTSMOUTH - Elsie Margaret (Sparks) Mace, 93, of 128 Eastwood Drive, passed away Friday, July, 25, 2003, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
She was born June 6, 1910, in Cambridge, Mass., the daughter of Janet Elizabeth (Greene) Sparks and Newman Douglas Sparks.
She graduated from Watertown High School and attended Boston Conservatory School of Music. As a child, she summered at Rye Beach, later moving to Portsmouth in the 1950s.
She and her husband of 57 years, George S. Mace, retired to New Durham in 1978. While there, she enjoyed many days exploring the town of Wolfeboro on Lake Winnipesaukee, with its many fine shops, restaurants and entertainment. Her favorite pastimes were listening to music and attending concerts, both vocal and instrumental.
In 1997, she and her husband moved back to Portsmouth to be closer to her daughter and two grandsons. While living in New Durham she began attending Nute Ridge Bible Chapel in Milton, which she continued to attend even after returning to Portsmouth. She cherished the many friendships she made there.
In addition to her husband George, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Stephen Lord of Portsmouth; and two grandsons, Justin Mace Lord and Jarrod Stephen Lord, also of Portsmouth. She is also survived by a niece, Jerri Tucker, of Rye; three nephews, Douglas Sparks of Rye, Kenneth and Bartlett Sparks, both of Florida; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Sparks of Rye, and several cousins. She is also survived by Brenda Daigle of Maine, whom she considered a daughter, and her family.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mabel Sparks; and two brothers, Ralph and Lester Sparks.
Funeral services will be held at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth, Tuesday 11 a.m. with a hour of visiting from 10 - 11 a.m. before the service. Virginia Spinney
PORTSMOUTH - Virginia M. (Norton) Spinney, 81, of 140 Court St., a longtime resident of Portsmouth, died peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2003, after a long illness at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
She was born in Portsmouth on April 3, 1922, the daughter of Willie L. and Mildred E. (Coffin) Norton.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a clerk at Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth.
Survivors include a daughter, Dianne S. DeCoff of Alton; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, James F. Norton of Kittery, Maine, and Dana L. Norton of Eliot, Maine; three sisters, Alberta M. York of Midway, Maine, Iola N. Ballou of New Castle, and Helen N. Hunt of Portsmouth; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth, Tuesday at 2 p.m. Friends invited.
There will be a private burial following the service in the family lot. There will be no visiting hours. Family flowers only.
