Shauger, J.M. Shauger, Pamela J. Conklin, Annette J. Bruner, Jacqueline L. Hall and Louis C. Shauger. Dear former husband of Ruth A. Lowing. Loved by 12 nephews, six nieces, 13 great- nephews and six great-nieces. WAIN, JOHN EDWARD SHIELDS, 72, died peacefully at home in Newton on Wednesday following a heroic battle with leukemia. Born on July 13, 1932, in Ford City, Pa., Mr. Wain graduated from Ford City High School and Clarion University in Clarion, Pa. He taught and coached basketball at Keystone High School, Knox, Pa., from 1961 to 1963. The "Duke" taught social studies at Newton High School from 1964 until his retirement in 1994. During his tenure at Newton, John was the varsity basketball coach and an assistant coach in football, wrestling, track and softball. Additionally, he coached elementary basketball in Newton and Andover. Most recently, John was a part-time employee at Weis Markets. John was a 50-year member of the Kittanning East Brady Lodge No. 244, F & A.M.; a longtime member of the NRA, a lifetime member of the Allamuchy Rod and Gun Club. John was also a Korean War era veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1952-1954. The son of the late Fred and Margaret Howells Wain, John was also predeceased by his brothers, Fred and Dick, and his sisters, Hannah and Eleanor. He is survived by his beloved family: his wife of 48 years, Patricia; son Matthew and his wife, Elizabeth (O'Conner), of Hummelstown, Pa; daughter, Mary Frances, and her husband, Sean, of Washington, D.C.; daughter Katie, and her husband, Anthony, of Frankford; and his grandchildren, Brianne, Victoria, Andrew, Alexandra, Dominic, Bryan, Kiersten, Matthew and Samuel, expected in September. Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with Masonic Services at 8 p.m. at the SMITH-MCCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME, 63 High St., Newton. A memorial service will be held Sunday, 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. POST, YOLANDA LICATA, 80, of Sandyston, died April 26, 2005, surrounded by her children. Beloved wife of the late James Licata (1976) and the late C.J. Post (2002). Mother of David Licata, and his wife, Carol; James Licata, and his wife, Margie; Patty Dickerson, and her husband, Guy (whom Yolanda loved as a son); and Mary Licata, and her partner, Nancy Van Horn; 16 grandchildren, Dawn, J.R., Matt, Scott, Christine, Kaitlin, Melissa, Jenna, Joseph, Alyssa, Eddie, Becca, Louis, Andrew, Jacob and Kristle; two great-grandchildren, Cain and Maria; her beloved grand-dogs and her new little puppy "Saint Pio."
