Frank L. Saia
Frank L. Saia, 76, of Hammonton, died on Monday, February 7 [2000], at the Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in Hammonton, Saia was a lifelong resident here. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 186 of Hammonton.
He was the husband of the late Jennie (Guerere).
Surviving him are: his son, Nicholas Saia, of Galloway Twp.; a grandson, Michael; and also a companion, Natalie; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends attended a Funeral Liturgy Mass on Thursday, February 10 at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Hammonton.
Internment followed at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hammonton.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, Rt. 206, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
Arrangements were made by the Landolfi Funeral Home.

Janet L. Farsetta
Janet L. Farsetta, 56, of Hammonton, died Tuesday, February 8 [2000], at home.
Born in Stratford, Farsetta was a longtime resident of Hammonton. Farsetta was an office manager for the Hammonton Public School System. She was a member of St. Martin de Porres RC Church in Hammonton.
Surviving her are: her husband, Lewis C. Farsetta, of Hammonton; two daughters, Mary Farsetta, of Charlottesville, Va., and Diane Farsetta, of Medicine, Wis.; her mother, Ethel Fraser, of Atco; her mother-in-law, Victoria Farsetta, of Hammonton; one sister, Ethel Norcross, of Winslow Twp.; and one brother, Stewart Fraser, of Waynesboro, Pa.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian burial on Friday, February 11, at St. Martin de Porres RC Church in Hammonton.
Burial followed at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hammonton.
Donations may be made to St. Martin de Porres RC Church, 129 Park Ave., Hammonton, NJ 08037, or to the Hammonton High School Farsetta Memorial Account, PO Box 308, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
Arrangements were made by the Carnesale Funeral Home.

Carmine J. Penza
Carmine J. Penza, of 694 N. First Road in Hammonton, the son of the late Rose and Anthony Penza, died Thursday, February 10 [2000], at his home after a lengthy illness.
Born and raised in Hammonton, Penza was employed at Eastern Brewing for 49 years as a supervisor of brewing, bottling and maintenance. He was a dedicated man and one of a kind. He was with the Hammonton class of 1942. Penza was a graduate of the Wahl Institute of Brewing and attended many seminars in New York. He served in WWII with the 531st Engineers Special Brigade. He landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day in the Normandy Invasion, and also saw some action in the Battle of the Bulge. The engineers outfit was to construct bridges and remove landmines. After retirement, along with his innovation, skills and knowledge, he designed his own beverage equipment along with his son, to produce delicious beer, wines and champagnes, as all of his family and friends would attest. Carmine was married for more than 53 years to his devoted wife Peggy.
Also surviving him are: two sons, Richard Penza and his wife Marlene, of Hammonton, and Chuck Penza, of Hammonton; a daughter, Diann and her husband Geoffrey Gentile, of Hammonton; one brother, Robert Penza, of Hammonton; his grandchildren, Richard and his wife Helena Penza, of Margate, Kristina Penza, of Hammonton, and Margaret Gentile, of Hammonton; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Penza of Margate.
His wife said during Carmine’s illness he had appreciated all the gifts, cards and visits from a devoted family and good friends.
There was no viewing and burial was private. A memorial Mass was said in church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hammonton Rescue Squad, 300 S. Egg Harbor Road, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
Arrangements were made by the Marinella Funeral Home.

John A. Vettese
John A. Vettese, 81, of Hammonton, died Friday, February 11 [2000], at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
Born in Hammonton, Vettese was an area resident all his life. He was a retired machine operator and was employed by Modern Clothing Co. of Hammonton, where he worked for more than 40 years. He was a graduate of Hammonton High School class of 1936. He was a common man with simple needs and enjoyments who cared for others and is loved by family, friends and acquaintances.
Surviving him are: his wife, Elizabeth (Salvatore); three sons, Robert A. Vettese and his wife Bonnie, of Hammonton, John R. Vettese and his wife Mary Ann, of Ambler, Pa., and Gary L. Vettese, of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Dr. Domenic Vettese, of Allentown, Pa., and Louis Vettese and his wife Doris, of La Jolla, Calif.; six grandchildren, Sharon Licata and her husband Michael, of Ambler, Pa., Steven Vettese, of Charleston, SC, John Vettese, of Ambler, Pa., Elaine Vettese, of Ambler, Pa., Jennifer Vettese, of Hammonton, and Robert Vettese, of Hammonton.
Relatives and friends attended services on February 15, at the Marinella Funeral Home.
Donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 850 N. Franklin Ave., Pleasantville, NJ 08232, or to the Hammonton Rescue Squad, 300 S. Egg Harbor Rd., Hammonton, NJ 08037.
Arrangements were made by the Marinella Funeral Home.

Aaron F. Parker
Aaron F. Parker Sr., 82, of Hammonton, died Monday, February 7 [2000], at home.
Parker lived the majority of his life in Hammonton. Following graduation from high school, Parker enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country at Pearl Harbor and at sea during World War II. Parker was involved in the early development and installation of computers with Philco. Later in his life he helped design and patent machines used in banking and other industries. He traveled extensively throughout the world promoting those machines. Parker was active in his community, having been involved in the M.B. Taylor Lodge and the Hammonton Presbyterian Church. Parker was an avid racing fan, and helped local drivers achieve success on the track over the years. He was a loving family man.
Surviving him are: his devoted wife of 58 years, Jean W. (nee McCluskey) Parker; his son, Aaron (Sonny) W. Parker Jr., his wife Betsy, and their son Joshua, of Wilmington, NC; his daughter, Karen Case and her husband Ralph and their son Wesley, of Folsom. He is also survived by and will be missed by a number of other family members, nieces, nephews, and their families locally and in other parts of the country.
Relatives and friends attended services on Thursday, February 10, at the Carnesale Funeral Home in Hammonton.
The family requests donations to the American Heart Association, 600 S. White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ 08106.

Angelina Danks
Angelina R. (Macrie) (Valentino) Danks, 77, of Hammonton, died Friday, February 11 [2000], at her residence.
Born in Hammonton, Danks was an area resident all her life. She was employed by Whitehall-Robbins Laboratories of Hammonton until her retirement in 1995. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother, dear sister, loving grandmother and loved by anyone with whom she came in contact.
Surviving her are: her husband, Glen A.; Anthony “Tony” Macrie, of Hammonton, and Frank Macrie, of Hammonton; her step-children, Travis Danks and his wife Victoria, of Elwood, and Wenona and her husband Louis White, of Egg Harbor; one brother, Raymond Rapisand, of Texas; two sisters, Louise Donato, of Hammonton, and Jean Piciulo, of Mays Landing; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on February 14, at St. Martin de Porres Church. Entombment followed at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Atlantic County Unit, 626 Shore Road, Absecon, NJ 08201.
Arrangements were made by the Marinella Funeral Home.

Frank Perino
Frank Perino, 88, of the Elm section of Winslow Twp., died Monday, February 14 [2000], at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in Hammonton, Perino was an area resident all his life. He was a retired finisher for Skinner’s MFG. Co. in Hammonton. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II.
Perino was the husband of the late Mary (nee Hummell).
Surviving her are: two daughters, Mary Barbagallo and her husband John, of Sicklerville, and Linda Sullivan and her husband Patrick, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one brother, Samuel Perino, of Hammonton; and he was the loving grandfather Patrick, John and Joseph Sullivan.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 19, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Hammonton. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hammonton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. John of God, 532 Delsea Drive, Westville Grove, NJ 08093.
Arrangements were made by the Marinella Funeral Home.

Santo (Sam) Merlino
Santo (Sam) J. Merlino, 79, of Blue Anchor, died Monday, February 14 [2000], at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ. Born in Hammonton, Merlino was a lifelong area resident. He was a self-employed truck driver.
Merlino was the husband of the late Catherine (nee Raso) Merlino.
Surviving him are: one son, Frank Merlino and his wife Kathy, of Blue Anchor; one daughter, Mary Krafcigs and her husband Steven, of Blue Anchor; his companion and friend Marie Rastelli, of Berlin and her grandson Jeffrey; one brother, Benjamin Merlino, of Hammonton; two sisters, Estella Gazzara, of Hammonton, and Pauline Sindoni, of Hammonton; four grandchildren, Anthony and Mark Merlino and Katrina and Sean Krafcigs.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 17, at St. Lucy’s RC Church on Route 73 in Blue Anchor.
Burial followed at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hammonton.
Arrangements were made by the Carnesale Funeral Home.
