Mary Phillips Zayac
NANUET, N.Y. - Mary Phillips Zayac, 79, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007 at Newton Memorial Hospital. Born March 5, 1928 in Nyack to John and Mary McNichol Phillips, Mrs. Zayac worked at Helen Hayes Hospital for 20 years until her retirement in 1990.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 1986 and her daughter, Mary-An in 2004.
Mrs. Zayac's survivors include her children, Joseph William Zayac Jr. and his wife, Connie, of Pearl River, James Zayac and his domestic partner, Jim Schwarz, and Thomas Zayac and his wife, Joanne, of Newton; and her nine grandchildren, Helen, Joey, Billy, Amanda, Mary Beth, Madeleine, Tom Jr., Michael, and Timmy.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Oct. 8, 2007 at St. Mary's Church in Haverstraw.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Church or Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice in Newton.

Clifford J. Cuneo
STUART, FL - Clifford J. Cuneo, 78, died Monday, June 25, 2007, at Martin Memorial South Hospital in Stuart, Florida.
Born in Hasbrouck Heights, Mr. Cuneo lived in the Baleville section of Hampton for 20 years before moving to Branchville, where he lived for 30 years. He moved to Stuart three years ago.
Mr. Cuneo was a mechanic and was the former owner/operator of Cliff's Garage in Branchville for 40 years before his retirement. A licensed pilot, Mr. Cuneo loved to ride motorcycles and owned and drove his own race car.
The son of the late Charles and Mary Cuneo, Mr. Cuneo was predeceased by his wife, Annette, on January 8, 2004. He is survived by six sons, Clifford J. Cuneo, Jr., and his companion, Gerda Lee, of Big Timber, Mont., Michael Cuneo of Ivor, Va., Thomas Cuneo and his wife, Katherine, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., John Cuneo and his fiancée, Sara P. Smith, of Tucson, Ariz., Stanley Cuneo and his wife, Betsy, of Sandyston, and James Cuneo and his wife, Dawn, of Dingmans Ferry. He is also survived by two sisters, Muriel Puzio of Andover Township and Myrna Kaufman of Martinsville, Virginia; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2007, at the Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St., Branchville. Interment
will follow in Branchville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Jeanne L. Current
NEWTON - Jeanne L. Currant, 76, died at Newton Memorial Hospital on June 25, 2007 from cancer. Her body was donated to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry "Snapper" Current; daughter Carol Brigante Washer; and brother, Carl "Tinker" Lippincott. She is survived by her mother, Ida Lippincott; son David Current and his wife, Denise; daughter Sandra Pittenger and her husband Larry; daughter Betsy Crum and her husband Doug; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and the many children she thought of as grandchildren and her many friends.
She was a lifelong resident of Sussex County and a full time grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 1, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. at the Harmony Hill United Methodist Church of Stillwater, 919 Fairview Lake Road in Stillwater, Family and friends are welcome to celebrate her life at the home of Dave and Denise Current, 955 Fairview Lake Road in Stillwater.

Jasper Haas
VERNON - Jasper Haas, 82, died at Saint Clare's Hospital in Sussex on Tuesday, June 26, 2007. Born in Ogdensburg to the late Angela and Michael Haas, Mr. Haas was a lifelong resident of Sussex County, living in both Hamburg and the McAfee section of Vernon.
Mr. Haas worked for the Ames Rubber Corp. at the Wantage location as Plant Manager for 36 years before retiring in 1980. Mr. Haas proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army, attaining the rank of sergeant in the 179th Engineer Combat Battalion. He was honored with four battle stars for action in Europe from Normandy to the Battle of the Bulge. His decorations include the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Haas was a very proud and exempt member of the Hamburg Fire Department since 1949. He was a former police officer in Hamburg, and was a life member of the Police Officers Association of New Jersey, a life member of the Samaritan Masonic Lodge No. 98 F&AM; in Hardyston, and a member of the Tall Cedars of North Jersey No. 37. Mr. Haas enjoyed the sport of golf and summered in the Catskills, where he loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Haas is predeceased by five brothers and one sister.
Mr. Haas is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marjorie Haas; one brother, David Haas and his wife Clara of Hamburg; several nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the North Hardyston Cemetery, Hardyston. Arrangements are under the direction of the F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main St., Franklin.

Anna Kapitko Carter
ARKVILLE, N.Y. - Anna Kapitko Carter, 91, passed away Monday, June 18, 2007, at Margaretville Residential Care Center in Margaretville, N.Y., with relatives at her side.
An resident of the Arkville area for most of her life, Mrs. Carter worked as bank teller at the NBT Bank in Margaretville for 20 years, was a member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Margaretville, the Margaretville Fire Department Auxiliary, and volunteered at Margaretville Memorial Hospital.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ed Carter, in 1995.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Carter Puffer and her husband, Guy, of Andover, and Patricia Sanford and her husband, Robert, of Arkville. She also leaves two grandchildren, Deborah Lynn Puffer of South Portland, Maine, and Kimberly Ann Puffer of Kingston, N.Y., and other relatives in New York state.
A memorial service was held June 22 at Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, with Rev. R. L. Donahue officiating. Interment
will be at the convenience of the family.
Antoni Antoniadis
MIDDLETOWN, NY - Antoni Antoniadis, 41, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, in Newton. Tony was born January 17, 1966, in Athens, Greece, the son of the late Kyriakos and the late Marina (Vededes) Antoniadis.
He was co-owner of the Goshen Diner, Goshen, N.Y.. Tony was a U.S. Marine.
He is survived by his wife, Denise (Rassiga) Antoniadis; three children, Kory, Alliyah, and Kierstin Antoniadis; two sisters, Lisa Tsikolas and Mary Cook; a niece, Marietta Tsikolas; two nephews, Dino Tsikolas and J.R. Cook; and many cousins. He was predeceased by his mother and father.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 29, 2007, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church St., Goshen, NY. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, Goshen Turnpike, Middletown, N.Y., with Friar Chris Talleos officiating. Burial will be in Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown, N.Y.
Margaret I. Serdy
NEWTON - Margaret I. Serdy, 88, of Newton, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the Harris Health Care Center at Bristol Glen in Newton.
Born in California, Pa., Mrs. Serdy lived in East Brunswick for 40 years, then lived in Whiting for 20 years before moving to Newton in November 2006.
She worked in the Accounts Receivable Department of Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick for over 20 years before her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the Whiting Bible Church and the Word of Life Organization. She was also a member and former secretary of the American Hungarian Club in Whiting. Mrs. Serdy loved her family, line dancing and gardening.
The daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Dennis Barko, Mrs. Serdy was also predeceased by her husband, Henry Serdy, in 1957; one son, Henry Serdy Jr., in 1949; and a brother, John Barko.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Hart and her husband, Walter, of Andover; one sister, Ann Varga, of Edison; one brother, Joseph Barko, of Monroe Township; and one granddaughter, Meredith Hart of Boston.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, Route 517, Andover Borough. Interment
will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery
in Green Township. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home.

Anna Kapitko Carter
ARKVILLE, N.Y. - Anna Kapitko Carter, 91, passed away Monday, June 18, 2007, at Margaretville Residential Care Center in Margaretville, N.Y., with relatives at her side.

Joseph Colaneri
PALISADES PARK - Joseph Colaneri, 84, of Palisades Park and Lake Owassa, died on Saturday, June 23, 2007.
He was the beloved husband of Louise (Callahan); the dear father of Jaqueline Untig, Joseph Jr. and James Colaneri; proud grandfather of Adria and James Untig. He was also loved by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Rose Cerio and Marie Buscavage.
Mr. Colaneri attended Texas A & M before being called to active duty during World War II. He attended Bergen Community College and graduated from Newark State College. He later received a masters from Seton Hall University. He taught for over 40 years in the Hoboken school system, where he also served as a guidance counselor and director of Career Education. He was an adjunct professor of Jersey City State College. He was past president of the Palisades Park Board of Education, Lake Owassa Community Association, H.E.A.R.T.S, and the Palisades Park Homeowners Association. He was a member of N.J.E.A. and the Hoboken's Teacher Association, and a charter member of the Fairview American Legion Post 365.
The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home, 327 Main St. (opposite the Fort Lee Library), Fort Lee. The funeral will leave Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. for the celebration of his funeral mass in St. Nicholas R.C. Church at 11 a.m.
