Philip Low
BYRAM - Philip M. Low, 49, of Byram, died Sunday at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center.
Born in Paterson, he lived in Byram Township all his life. He was a self-employed mason contractor.
Mr. Low is survived by his parents, Gerald and Joan (Barney), of Byram; one brother, Edward, of Flanders; one sister, Nancy Haberzettl, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; two nieces and one nephew.
Arrangements are by Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing.
Antoinette "Toni" Spradling
MONTAGUE - Antoinette "Toni" Spradling, 85, of Montague, died Sunday at Milford Senior Care & Rehabilitation Center in Milford, Pa.
A dancer for 75 years, Mrs. Spradling was born July 24, 1920, to Francisco and Rose Pagnotti Rosso, in Brooklyn, N.Y. The founder and owner of Toni Spradling Dance Studio of Montague, she began her career as a tap dancer in New York City in 1927. Upon graduating from high school in Brooklyn, she became a Radio City Music Hall Rockette. Later she formed her own traveling dance company and became a stateside member of the USO in the metro New York area. Later she relocated to Dover and operated several dance studios. She and her husband bought the Club 45 in Lake Hiawatha, where Bobby Darin, the Duprees and other notables performed. In 1965 they moved to Montague. For almost the next 40 years, Mrs. Spradling owned and operated the Toni Spradling Dance Studio. She retired in 2002 at age 83.
For more than 30 years, she held an annual dance recital to benefit the drama club at either Port Jervis or Delaware Valley High schools, as well as having her adult and children's dance troops perform for many tri-state area charities.
Her husband of 59 years, Homer C. "Slim," died Jan. 11, 2001. She was also predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Rose Marie and John T. Allen Sr.
Mrs. Spradling is survived by two sons, Guy and his wife, Carol, of Milford, Pa., and Mark and his wife, Teresa, of Pond Eddy, N.Y.; one stepson, David and his wife, Monica, of Hilton Head, S.C.; one brother, Frank Russo and his wife, Shirley, of Toronto, Canada; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one nephew.
Funeral arrangements are by the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis.
Charles "Bud" Cowell Jr.
NEWTON - Charles "Bud Cowell Jr., 77, died Aug. 7 at Newton Memorial Hospital.
Born in Newton to Charles Sr. and Genevieve M. (Nickels), he was a lifelong resident of Newton. He worked for Acme supermarkets in Newton for more than 30 years before his retirement. A World War II Army Air Corps veteran, Mr. Cowell was a member of Newton Fire Department, Kittatinny Hose & Ladder.
He is survived by his cousins.

Lucy Scala
MADISON - Lucy Scala, 89 died Saturday at home after a long illness.
Mrs. Scala was born in Newark on March 3, 1916, to Nicola and Maria Saporito De Venezia. The second of 10 children, she resided in Florham Park and then for the past 70 years in Madison.
Mrs. Scala attended school at the Little Red School in Florham Park and worked for 18 years in sales at the former B. Altman & Co. in Short Hills, retiring 24 years ago. She was a parishioner at St. Vincent Martyr R. C. Church in Madison and served as an election board worker for the Morris County Board of Elections for 30 years.
Her husband, Henry Sr., died March 28, 1988. She was also predeceased by her brothers Orazio and Anthony De Venezia and her sisters Colette Siano and Michelina Iuso.
Mrs. Scala is survived by three sons, John and his wife, Lola, of Hopatcong, N. Lawrence and his wife, Nancy, of Gillette and Henry Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Hackettstown; two brothers, Edward De Venezia, of Livingston and Richard De Venezia, of Mountain Lakes; three sisters, Irma Conforti, of Bloomfield, Helen Domney, of Rogersville, Mo., and Marie G. De Venezia, of Toms River; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Virginia Cassidy Cole
ARARAT, Pa. - Virginia Cassidy Cole, 72, of Ararat Township, died Wednesday at the Hospice Unit of Mercy Hospital in Scranton.
Born in Newton, N.J., to Jacob and Edna Pittenger Ladlee, Mrs. Cole lived in Hampton, N.J., for 23 years before moving to Ararat 30 years ago.
She was the former office manager of the Division of Motor Vehicles office in Newton. She then worked as a tax preparer for H & R Block in Carbondale. Mrs. Cole was a member of the Lake Lorraine Golf League.
Her first husband, Floyd J. Cassidy, died March 21, 1983. She is survived by her husband of nine years, Donald J., two sons, Larry F. of Ararat and William A. of Uniondale; one daughter, Bonnie Swanson of Milford; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Cooper
CANDOR, N.C. - Dorothy Everitt Cooper, 83, died Monday.
Mrs. Cooper lived in Hope, N.J., and Blairstown, N.J., most of her life before moving to Florida and then Candor. She came back to New Jersey in 1986, living with her daughter Lorraine in Allamuchy until 2004, when she returned to Candor.
Her husband, William, died in 1986. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Joan, and a brother, Walter Everitt.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by two sons, Charles Penzar of Vail, N.J., and Robert Mikkelson and his wife, Nancy, of Blairstown; three daughters, Diane Howey of Blairstown, Lorraine Freeborn and her husband, Arleigh, of Allamuchy, and Mary Sherman and her husband, Thomas, of Candor; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Rosemary Engelhart (Flatt)
MILFORD, Pa. - Rosemary D. Engelhart (Flatt), 59, of Milford, died Tuesday at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover, N.J.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1946, in Taylorville, Ill., to Harvey and Alice May Starr Engelhard.
Survivors include three sons, Vincent of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., Robert of Huguenot, N.Y., and Gerald of Dingmans Ferry; two sisters, Bonnie Pulver of Vienna, N.J., and Tina Postma of Columbia, N.J.; one brother, Hank Engelhart of Nokomus, Ill.; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Marie Louise LeFloch
MOUNT ARLINGTON - Marie Louise LeFloch, 92, died Thursday at Saint Clare's Hospital in Denville.
Born in Scaer, France, she left Brittany in the 1930s to join her husband in Port Chester, N.Y. She lived in the Bronx, where she worked for the Guerlaine Perfume Factory, and later lived in Queens.
Mrs. LeFloch moved to Denville, where she lived at the St. Francis Residential Community for four years, before moving to Mount Arlington last year.
Her husband, Louis, died in 1955. Her daughter and son-in-law, Irene Marie Louise and Frank Patrick Pinter, died in 1990.
Mrs. LeFloch is survived by three grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Mary Scarpulla
HAMPTON - Mary A. Scarpulla, 83, of Crandon Lakes, died Wednesday at Newton Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in West New York to Frank and Lenna Rosario Palino, Mrs. Scarpulla was a longtime resident of Fairview before moving to the Crandon Lakes section of Hampton in 1980.
She was a former member of the Fairview Board of Education and the Ladies Union in Fairview, and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel R. C. Church in Swartswood, where she was a leader in the RCIA program. She was also one of the founders and a long-standing member of the Crandon Lakes Country Club Board of Directors.
Her husband, Ciro S., died in 1997. She was also predeceased by her sister, Phyllis Kimball.
Mrs. Scarpulla is survived by one son, Stephen of Hackettstown; one daughter, Diane of Bound Brook; one brother, John Palino of Brick; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
