Joseph D. Garofolo
Joseph D. “Joe Gary” Garofolo, 90, of Hammonton, died Wednesday, January 10 [2001], at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in New London, Conn., Garofolo lived in the Hammonton area for more than 80 years. He was a retired insurance salesmen for John Hancock Insurance Co. for more than 27 years, retiring in 1970. For each year of employment with John Hancock, Garofolo was a member of the President’s Club for the Top Salesmen nationwide. Prior to WWII, Garofolo served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Elk River, Idaho. He later worked in the clothing factory in Vineland making military uniforms and in the New York Shipyard. He graduated from Hammonton High School in 1927 as valedictorian at age 16. He graduated Cum Laude from Pierce Business School in 1931. He was a former member of the St. Joseph Church Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus Pallotti Council #3471 of Hammonton, and he was a charter member and past treasurer of the Hammonton Exchange Club.
Garofolo was predeceased by his grandson, James M. Romano Jr.
Surviving him are: his wife, Theresa (Parzanese), to whom he was happily married for 65 years; his son, Albert J. Garofolo and his wife Kathleen, of Mays Landing; a daughter, Rosalie B. Romano and her husband James, of Pomfret, Md.; two brothers, Alfred D. Garofolo, of Marlton, and Rocco Di Gerolamo, of Marlton; two sisters, Rose Ricci, of Elm, and Edith Gabrielli, of Sewell; he was the loving grandfather of Joseph A. Romano, Lisa M. Romano, Kelly R. Earling and her husband Girard, and Michael J. Garofolo; and he was the great-grandfather of Jenna and Evan Earling.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, January 15, at St. Martin de Porres Church in Hammonton. Burial followed at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton.

Virginia J. Laubert
Virginia J. Laubert, 76, of Hammonton, died Tuesday, January 9 [2001], at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in Hammonton, Laubert was a lifelong resident.
Surviving her are: one son, Robert Laubert, of Fla.; one brother, Harry Jacobs, of Hammonton; three sisters, Mary DePalma, of Phila., Helen Ripa, of Hammonton, and Catherine DiGerolamo, of Straford; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on Monday, January 15, at the Carnesale Funeral Home in Hammonton. Burial followed at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton.

Samuel J. Puleo
Samuel J. Puleo, 88, of Williamstown, died Friday, January 26 [2001], at Kennedy Hospital in Washington Twp.
Born and raised in Hammonton, Puleo lived in Williamstown for many years. He retired as a presser for Romalo’s Clothing Company in Hammonton in 1975.
Puleo was the husband of the late Angelina (Santora) Puleo.
Surviving him are: two sons, Anthony Puleo and his wife Josephine, of Hammonton, and John Puleo and his wife Diane, of Hammonton; a daughter, Rita Pantalone and her husband Jay, of Erial; a brother, Frank Puleo, of Hammonton; a sister, Josephine Capella; he was the loving grandfather of six; and two great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on Tuesday, January 30, at the Marinella Funeral Home in Hammonton. Burial followed at the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hammonton.

Mary L. Zozone
Mary L. “Granny” Zozone, 85, of Hammonton, died Friday, January 26 [2001], at Atlantic City Medical Center in Galloway Twp.
Born in Vineland, Zozone was a resident of Hammonton for 70 years. She worked as a sewing machine operator for Crown Pants Co. in Hammonton before retiring. She was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union, St. Joseph’s RC Church Altar and Rosary Societies, and the Hammonton school PTA. She enjoyed crocheting and playing cards.
Zozone was predeceased by her beloved husband, Nicholas Zozone, a grandson, Thomas Mature Jr., and a brother, Peter Troiano.
Surviving her are: three daughters, Sue Zozone-Bintliff, of Hammonton, Mary Zozone-Williams and her husband Donald, of Pennsville, and Nicoletta Mature and her husband Thomas, of Hammonton; one son, Anthony Zozone and his wife Beverly, of Hammonton; two brothers, Michael Orlano, of Rosenhayn, and Joseph Troiano, of Bridgeton; nine grandchildren, Barbara Formicelli, Lisa Michaels, Deborah Raddi, Kathleen Merendino, Marie Haddock, Michelle Coia, Monica Zozone, Sharon Grinceri and Nicholas Mature; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Rita DeFrancisco
Rita DeFrancisco, 75, of Hammonton, died Saturday, January 27 [2001], at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Hammonton.
Born in Hammonton, DeFrancisco was a lifelong resident. She retired from W. B. Kessler Clothing Co. in Hammonton, where she worked for many years as a seamstress.
Surviving her are: three sisters, Rose Brown, of Hammonton, Jeanette DeFrancisco, of Hammonton, and Helen Couture, of Fairfield, Calif.; and she was the loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church on N. Third Street. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday, February 1, after 9 a.m. at the church.

Frank D’Agostino
Frank D’Agostino, 95, of Hammonton, died Monday, January 22 [2001], at his residence.
Born in Hammonton, D’Agostino was a lifelong resident. He was a retired presser for Wm. B. Kessler Clothing Co. of Hammonton. He was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union of America, and an avid hunter.
D’Agostino was the husband of the late Ida (Rodio) D’Agostino.
Surviving him is: a daughter, Rita D’Agostino, of Hammonton.

Anthony Mazza
Anthony Mazza, 87, of Hammonton, died Saturday, January 20 [2001], at West Jersey Hospital in Berlin.
Born in Hammonton, Mazza was a lifelong resident. He owned and operated Tony and Minnie Mazza’s Farm in Hammonton until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Ocean Spray Cranberry Association. He served in the Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post #186 of Hammonton.
Surviving him are: his wife, Minnie (Mavilla); two sons, Anthony Mazza and his wife Marie, of Hammonton, and Frank J. Mazza and his wife Liz, of Hammonton; two daughters, Annetta Witcraft and her husband Robert, of Winslow Twp., and Mary Ann Wells and her husband Raymond, of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Millie Colasurdo and her husband Rocco, of Hammonton; he was the loving grandfather of nine; and seven great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on January 23, at the Marinella Funeral Home.
Burial followed at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton.

Anthony Scordo
Anthony Scordo Sr., 97, of Hammonton/Winslow Twp., died Monday, January 22 [2001], at his residence.
Born in Italy, Scordo was a lifelong resident of Hammonton. He was a retired farmer with Anthony Scordo Jr. Inc. Farm in Hammonton. He was the oldest member of the Sons of Italy Lodge #1658 of Hammonton and was a member of the Rosedale Gunning Club. He was a former member of the Farm Bureau.
Scordo was the husband of the late Catherine M. (Olive) Scordo.
Surviving him are: his son, Anthony Scordo Jr., of Hammonton; he was the loving grandfather of Lynn Cahill, Deanna, Peter and Anthony Scordo III; and he was the great-grandfather of Sarah Scordo and Steven Cahill Jr.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 25, at St. Joseph’s Church on Third St. in Hammonton.
Burial followed at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton.

Eugene E. Langdon
Eugene E. Langdon, of Hammonton, died Sunday, January 28 [2001], at home.
Born in Philadelphia, Langdon was a lifelong resident of the southern New Jersey area. Before retiring in 1990, Langdon was an avionics supervisor for the Federal Aviation Administration in Pomona. He was a U.S. Naval Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion F.A. Funston Post No. 186 in Hammonton and the AARP. He was a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 398 in Hammonton. He was a former member of the Hammonton High School Band Parents and the Mullica Recreation Association.
Surviving him are: his wife, Barbara K. Langdon (nee Knorr); two sons, Eugene Edgar Langdon II, at home, and Jonathan Knorr Langdon, at home; three brothers, Thomas Langdon, of Vineland, Harry Langdon, of Egg Harbor, and Walter Langdon, of Hammonton; four sisters, Dorothy Golini, of Elwood, Lillian Scannapieco, of Phila., Marie Black, of Derbie, Ks., and Emily Mullin, of Cologne.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 1, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Martin de Porres RC Church on S. Egg Harbor Rd. in Hammonton.
Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing.
Viewing will be held tonight after 7 p.m. and Thursday, February 1, after 8:30 a.m. at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third St., Hammonton.
