John V. Grillo
John V. Grillo, 88, of Burlington, and formerly of Hammonton, died Thursday, January 4 [2001], at the Rancocas Valley Hospital in Willingboro.
Grillo was born in Philadelphia. He was a plumber for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Grillo was predeceased by his wife, Edna (nee Dunn), and his brother, Richard Grillo.
Surviving him are: a daughter, Gail E. and her husband Gary Bonsall, of Medford Lakes; brother, Stanley Grillo, of Egg Harbor Township; a sister, Kathryn Hollis, of Hillsdale, NJ; his grandchildren, Todd G. Bonsall, Dean J. Bonsall and Bonnie G. Hope; and five great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on Monday, January 15, at the Lechner Funeral Home in Medford.
Internment followed at Locustwood Cemetery in Cherry Hill.
Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Shriners' Hospital, 3551 N. Broad St., Phila., PA 19140.

Joseph Ranieri
Joseph Ranieri, 94, of Hammonton, died Wednesday, February 21 [2001], at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Hammonton.
Born in New York, NY, Ranieri lived in Philadelphia until 1985, at the age of 76, when he moved to Hammonton. He spent most of his working years at the J.K. Birch Fabric Co. in Phila. in the shipping department. In his youth, he was an assistant trainer for lightweight boxers in Phila. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Ranieri was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Lucy Leone; and his stepdaughter, Katherine DelVecchio Continisio.
Surviving him are: his grandchildren, Lucille Jerue, of Absecon, and Joseph Continisio Jr., of Hammonton; and four great-grandchildren, Paul and Steven Jerue, and Cara and Joseph Continisio III.
Funeral services and burial were held at the convenience of the family.
Donations may be made to the Hammonton Rescue Squad, 300 S. Egg Harbor Rd., Hammonton, NJ 08037.

John (Jack) M. Super
John (Jack) M. Super, 75, of Lake Wales, Fla., and formerly of Hammonton, passed away on Wednesday, February 21 [2001], in Lake Wales, where he lived since 1994.
Super was born in Pleasant Mills, NJ, and was a postal worker retiring as Assistant Postmaster of Hammonton, after being employed for 40 years. He was a member of the Elm Methodist Church, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.
Surviving him are: his wife, Lily (nee Valaster); and one brother, J. Nelson Super, of Hammonton.
Private services were held in Florida.

Joan E. Patten
Joan E. Patten, 58, of Bulltown, died Thursday, February 22 [2001], at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in Northfield, Patten was an area resident most of her life. She previously worked at Deer Park Bakery in Hammonton.
Patten was the wife of the late Deloyed N. Patten Sr.
Surviving her are: three sons, Deloyed Patten Jr., of Bulltown, Jason Patten, of Bulltown, and James Patten and his wife Mary, of Cherry Hill; two daughters, Geraldine Kelly and her husband Joseph, of Hammonton, and Barbara Heisler and her husband William, of New Gretna; three sisters, Arlene Mick, of West Virginia, Doris Crean, of Little Egg Harbor Twp., and Emily Hakes, of Little Egg Harbor Twp.; many nieces and nephews; and she was the loving grandmother of Joseph and Shawn Kelly and Michael Brown.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on Tuesday, February 27, at the Marinella Funeral Home in Hammonton.
Burial followed at Greenbank Cemetery in Greenbank.

James Raso Sr.
James Raso Sr., 77, of the Rosedale section of Winslow Twp., died Sunday, February 25 [2001], at his residence.
Born in Blue Anchor, Raso was an area resident all his life. He retired in 1983 as a conductor for Conrail, formerly Jersey Central Rail Road. He founded Rosedale Nursery in 1946. He was a member of the NJ Farm Bureau of Nurserymen Association. He was a member of the Hammonton Chapter of Deborah, the St. John the Baptist Society, and the Hammonton Senior Citizens, and was an usher at St. Joseph's Church in Hammonton. He was a charter member and founder of the 3H Gun Club, and also founded the Alabama Slammers.
Surviving him are: his beloved wife of 55 years, Thelma (Delfino); his three sons, James Raso Jr. and his wife Linda, of Hammonton, Frank Raso and his wife Kelly, of Hammonton, and Robert Raso and his wife Lisa, of Hammonton; one brother, Joseph Raso, of Blue Anchor; and he was the loving grandfather of seven: Denise Testa, James Raso III, Gina Raso, Gabrielle Raso, Kelsey Raso, Robert Raso and Brandon Raso.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, March 1, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church on N. Third St. in Hammonton.
Entombment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton.
Viewing is tonight after 6 p.m. and Thursday, March 1, after 8:30 a.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. Third St. in Hammonton.

Carmine A. Christopher
Carmine A. (Reds) Christopher, 73, of Rosedale, Winslow Twp., passed away on Friday, March 9 [2001], at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in Hammonton, Christopher lived in Rosedale all his life, and was a graduate of Hammonton High School. He was the transportation coordinator for the Hammonton Public School System, retiring in 1989 after 22 years. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, and a member of the VFW Passalaqua Post No. 1026 in Hammonton and the American Legion Post No. 398 in Elm.
Surviving him are: his wife, Helen R. (nee Scordo); one brother, Tommy Christopher, of Blackwood; five sisters, Angie Tomasella, of Elm, Rita Christopher, of Rosedale, Marie Tamaccio, of Philadelphia, Delores Ricca, of Hammonton, and Patty and her husband Bill Ordille, of Hammonton; a brother-in-law, Bill Scordo, of Rosedale; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Relatives and friends attended a Funeral Liturgy Mass on Tuesday, March 13, at St. Anthony of Padua Church on Rt. 206 in Hammonton.
Burial followed at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hammonton.

Helen T. Cunningham
Helen T. Cunningham, 97, of Cortlandt Manor, died Thursday, March 1 [2001].
Born in New York, Cunningham was the daughter of Fredolin and Helen T. Erzer Mehler. She attended Evander Childs High School in NY. At St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Pelham, NY, she married Edward A. Cunningham, and they spent their years living in Bronx and Pelham. Cunningham moved to Peekskill in 1988. During her life, Cunningham was a communicant at St. Mary's Church in Bronx, St. Catherine of Sienna, Pelham, and Assumption Church, Peekskill. She was always very active in Girl Scouts as a troop leader, achieving lifetime member status after 40 years of service. In 1974, Cunningham was awarded the "Woman of the Year" award by the Greater NY Council of the Girl Scouts. She also belonged to the Peekskill Senior Citizens, the Sacred Heart League at St. Mary's, and was a CCD instructor and member of the Ladies of Charity at St. Catherine's. During the 1950s, Cunningham was active in the Women's Auxiliary of the Democratic Party of the Bronx.
Cunningham was predeceased by her husband, Edward A. Cunningham Sr.; one son, John F. Cunningham; two sisters, Constance McNulty and Colette Maloney; and one brother, Amos Mehler.
Surviving her are: three daughters, Maureen P. Tensfeldt, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jean F. Mitrovic, of Hammonton, and Beatrice "Sue" Easton, of Camp Hill, Pa.; two sons, Edward A. Cunningham Jr., of Indian Lake, NY, and Dr. Ralph P. Cunningham, of Garrison, NY; 31 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Sunday, March 3, at St. Columbanus Church in Cortlandt Manor.
Entombment followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.

Rose A. Caruso
Rose A. Caruso (Bertino), of Hammonton, died Saturday, March 10 [2001], at Bishop McCarthy Residence in Vineland.
Born in Hammonton, Caruso was an area resident all her life. She was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union and worked as a sewing machine operator for more than 44 years until her retirement in 1962. She was then employed as a salesperson with Ideal Manufacturing Co. of Hammonton until 1993.
Surviving her are: one daughter, Marion Presti, of Hammonton; two granddaughters, Lynn and Jack Olivo and Lori and David Arena; four great-grandsons, John and Matthew Olivo and David and Alec Arena; her sister-in-law, Rita Bertino; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 13, at St. Joseph's Church. Internment followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hammonton.
