Harry C. Brown
Harry C. Brown Sr., 61, of the Elwood section of Mullica Twp., died Saturday, March 3 [2001], in Hammonton.
Born in Philadelphia, Brown was an area resident for the past 28 years. He worked for Harrah's Casino as a bus driver and formerly for SEPTA out of the Frankford Depot. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Pallotti Council #3471 of Hammonton. He served on the Pastoral Council for St. Anthony of Padua Church. He was a huge Phila. sports fan and loved computers. He served in the Army Reserve.
Surviving him are: his wife, Pauline M. (Hutchins); two sons, Harry C. Brown Jr., of Hammonton, and Patrick Joseph Brown, of White Marsh, Md.; three daughters, Joan Marie Brown, of Hammonton, Mary Cathleen Brown, of Hammonton, and Christine Marie Brown, of Las Vegas; two brothers, Samuel Walace Brown, of Marlton, and William Brown, of Marlton; a sister, Anna Lance, of Marlton; and he was the loving grandfather of Aimee Leah Ruggerio-Brown and Christopher Michael Brown.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 9, at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial followed at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.

Stephen L. Mazzeo Jr.
Stephen L. Mazzeo Jr., 64, of Hammonton, died Wednesday, March 14 [2001], at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point.
Born in Hammonton, Mazzeo was a longtime resident here. Mazzeo formerly lived in Ventnor. Before retiring, he worked as a butcher at several supermarkets in the southern New Jersey area. He was a member of the Hammonton Little League World Champions of 1949. He was a longtime member of the Boot Hill Gun Club in Hammonton.
Surviving him are: two sons, Stephen L. "Corky" Mazzeo III and his wife Diana, of Hammonton, and Frank Mazzeo and his wife Denise, of Mays Landing; five daughters, Kathie Brown and her husband Kevin, of Absecon, Chris Fedo- Mazzeo and her companion Terry Lowe, of Hammonton, Stephanie Bates, of Hammonton, Beth Gavin and her husband Jim, of Folsom, and Susan Foster and her husband Joe, of Egg Harbor Twp.; and 16 grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on March 17, at the Carnesale Funeral Home. Burial was private at the convenience of the family.

Marie Merlino
Marie Merlino (Caruso), 88, of Hammonton, died Friday, March 16 [2001], at her residence.
Merlino was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the St. Rita Society, along with the Hammonton Senior Citizens. She was also a member of the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union and worked in many local sewing factories. She owned and operated Sal's Market for 40 years.
Merlino was the wife of the late Salvatore Merlino, and the mother-in-law of the late Joseph Pino.
Surviving her are: her children, Beatrice Magazu and her husband Anthony, of Hammonton, and Ida Pino, of Hammonton; her brother, Joseph Caruso and his wife Tillie, of Hammonton; she was the loving grandmother of four, Patty Lolio and her husband John, Joseph Pino and his wife Debra, Doreen Berenato and her husband Dennis, Cheryl LoSasso and her husband Dominic; and six great-grandchildren, Tracy, Bobby, Denny, Michael, Rachele and Jenna.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on March 19, at St. Joseph's Church. Burial followed at the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.

Carmen C. Kling
Carmen C. Kling, 78, of Hammonton, passed away on Saturday, March 17 [2001], at the Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in York, Pa., Kling grew up and lived most of her life there, graduating from Wm. Penn High School. She worked as a weaver at the Tioga Textile Manufacturing Co. in York, retiring in 1981 after 30 years of service. She also worked at the Barleys Nursing Home in York from 1981 to 1984. She was a member of the Victory Club and the Eagle Club of York, and her favorite hobby was working with ceramics.
Kling was predeceased by her husband, Dana Kling, and her daughter, Judith E. Kohr.
Surviving her are: one son, David T. Witmer, of Collings Lakes; one brother, Wilbur Welch, of Wrightsville, Pa; eight grandchildren, Scott F. Kohr, of Hammonton, Steven P. Kohr, of Egg Harbor Twp., David Witmer, of Manheim, Pa., Todd E. Kohr, of Dover, Pa., Cheryl Demille, of Martinez, Calif., Amy R. Kohr, of Williamstown, Timothy Witmer, of Berlin, and Richard Witmer, of Collings Lakes; and nine great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on Tuesday, March 20, at the Landolfi Funeral Home in Hammonton. Committal services and internment were private at the Mt. Rose Cemetery in York.

Edgar Robinson
Edgar (Eddie) Robinson, 78, of Hammonton, husband of the late Maggie, died Thursday, March 1 [2001], at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Robinson was an area resident for many years. He was a self-employed masonry contractor. He was a mason of the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge and the Church of Christ of Hammonton. He was also an avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Surviving him are: two daughters, Ruby Williams, of Milledgeville, Ga., and Beatrice Thompson, of Newtonville; one brother, Vincent Bartley, of Montego Bay; one sister, Linneth Gordon, of London, England; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on March 8, at the Marinella Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Galilee Cemetery in Fairchild, Ga.

Joseph Aiello Jr.
Joseph Aiello Jr., 81, of Hammonton, died Wednesday, March 28 [2001], at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in Hammonton, Aiello was a lifelong resident. He retired in 1981 as a construction worker form Local 172 Heavy and General Laborers of Newark. He loved farming and was an avid hunter known as "Joe Rabbit".
Surviving him are: his wife, Mary P. (Napoliello); three daughters, Marie Amorelli, of Hammonton, Beatrice Galletta, of Hammonton, and Tina Domenico, of Hammonton; a brother, Edward L. Aiello, of Hammonton; and he was the loving grandfather of Joseph B. Amorelli, Kimberly Valentin, David Tomasello, Jodi L. Domenico, Robert Galletta and William Galletta.

Burial followed at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hammonton.

John Giacoppo
John Giacoppo, 91, of Hammonton, died Wednesday, March 28 [2001], at Newcomb Hospital in Vineland.
Born in Hammonton, Giacoppo was a lifelong resident. He was a laborer for Local 172. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Hammonton American Legion F.A. Funston Post #186 and the Hammonton VFW Passalaqua Post #1086, both for more than 50 years.
Giacoppo was predeceased by his wife, Rose R. Ruggeri.
Surviving him are: a brother, Cosimo Gus Giacoppo, of Hammonton; and several nieces and nephews.

Anna Valerio (Dessiccini), 93, wife of the late Anthony J. Valerio, of Hammonton, died Wednesday, March 28 [2001], at the Greenbirar Nursing Center in Hammonton.
Born in Egg Harbor City, Valerio was an area resident for 75 years.
Valerio was predeceased by her son, Jack Valerio Sr.
Surviving her are: one son, Anthony P. Valerio, of Blue Anchor; her daughter-in-law, Theresa Valerio, of Hammonton; six grandchildren, Brian, Richard, Michael, John, Terry Lynne and Toni Anne; and five great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 3, at St. Lucy's Church in Blue Anchor.
Internment followed at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hammonton.

John J.B. Berenato
John "J.B." Berenato, 90, of Hammonton, died Monday, March 26 [2001], at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees.
Born in Hammonton, Berenato was a lifelong resident. He was a retired crane operator for Local 825 in Springfield, NJ. He worked for the Town of Hammonton as an electrical inspector. He joined Hammonton Fire Co. #1 on April 16, 1945, serving as assistant chief from 1960-1962 and as chief from 1978 - 1984. He was also a member of the NJ State Firemen's Relief Association.
Berenato was predeceased by his wife, Juanita Beane.
Surviving him are: a brother, Samuel Berenato, of Hammonton; two sisters, Mary Burns, of Haddon Heights, and Rose Springer, of Lawrenceville; his step-daughter, Shirley Smith; two step-grandchildren; a great step-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 31, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Hammonton.
Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hammonton.
