Helena F. Packard
Helena F. Packard, 97, of Hammonton, died on Thursday, December 20 [2001], at Greenbriar Nursing Center, in Hammonton.
She was born in Arni, India the daughter of Missionary Parents, the late Rev. William H. & Elizabeth Farrar.
She attended Maryville Preparatory School and College in Maryville, Tennessee.
She graduated in 1926 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and began teaching in Hammonton schools in 1929.
Packard did post graduate study at Drexel University and then at Glassboro State College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics.
Packard taught home economics in Hammonton to seventh and eighth graders and high school students until her retirement in 1962. She was also an active volunteer at Kessler Hospital, a member of the Mother’s Club and Civic Club and a very active member of her church, the Presbyterian Church of Hammonton, serving as elder deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member.
Surviving her are: daughter, Louisa F. Butler, of Williamstown; son, Raymond A. Packard, of Lynnwood, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; 14 step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hammonton Presbyterian Church, in Hammonton, with Rev. Walter Arkell officiating. Visitation with the family will follow in the Church Lounge. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Greenmount Cemetery, Hammonton.

Mark A. Sirolli
Mark A. Sirolli, 22, of Elm, died Friday, April 13 [2001], from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born in Marlton, Sirolli was a lifelong resident of Elm. He was a 1997 graduate of St. Joseph's High School in Hammonton, where he was a four-year player for the football team, and was president of the National Honor Society. He was to graduate with honors from Villanova University in May 2001. He was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at Villanova University. He was a member of the management team for Special Olympics at Villanova, and was inducted into Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. He was also a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity in New Mexico.
Surviving him are: his parents, Ronald and Peggy Sirolli, of Elm; two brothers, Ronald Sirolli Jr., of Hammonton, and Michael J. Sirolli, of Hammonton; and his paternal grandfather, Joseph Sirolli Sr., of Elm.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 17, at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Doris J. Macrie
Doris J. Macrie (Skinner), 84, of Hammonton, died April 9 [2001], at her residence.
Born in Hammonton, Macrie was a lifelong resident. She was a glass finisher at the family-owned business William Skinner and Sons Cut Glass Factory of Hammonton. She was also a supervisor of food services at Ancora State Hospital, retiring in 1976.
Macrie was predeceased by her husband, William S. Macrie.
Surviving her are: two sons, William Macrie and his wife Mary, of Hagerstown, Md., and Michael Macrie and his wife Kathy, of Hammonton; a daughter, Patricia Clark and her husband Russell, of Hammonton; she was the loving grandmother of 10, Russell Clark Jr., Gregory Clark, Cynthia Blasberg, William Macrie III, Theresa Macrie, Mary Macrie, Nancy Macrie, Michele Macrie, Michael W. Macrie and Kristen Macrie; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on Thursday, April 12, at St. Joseph's Church. Entombment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing.

Carmelo A. Russo
Carmelo A. Russo Jr., of Absecon, and formerly of Hammonton, passed away at his residence on Friday, April 6 [2001].
Born and raised in Hammonton, Russo lived in Mays Landing for 10 years and in Absecon for the past four months. He was employed at Caesars Casino in Atlantic City as a cashier. Prior to that, he was a partner with is late father, Carmelo Russo Sr., at the Sheer Fashion Hair Stylist in McKee City for 12 years. Russo was a member of the National Rifle Assoc. since 1998.
Surviving him are: his mother, Dolores McCluskey, of Clementon; and a brother, James W. McCluskey, of Erial.

Theresa P. Hough
Theresa P. Hough (Tucci), 86, of Hammonton, died Sunday, April 8 [2001], at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in Philadelphia, Hough lived most of her life in Hammonton.
Hough was predeceased by her husband, Samuel J. Hough.
Surviving her are: a daughter, Dolores M. DeClement and her husband William, of Hammonton; she was the loving grandmother of three, Tracey Farley and her husband Bob, Bill DeClement and his wife Jo-Ann, and Jeff DeClement; and three great-grandchildren, Joey, Taylor and Joshua.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial today at 12 noon at St. Anthony of Padua Church on Rt. 206. Burial followed at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.

Eugene J. Conte Jr.
Eugene J. Conte Jr., 82, of Hammonton, husband of the late Rose (Pignatelli), died Saturday, April 7 [2001], at Virtua Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Berlin.
Born in Waterford, Conte lived in Hammonton for more than 50 years. He was an auto salesman for more than 45 years, and worked for Merenda Chevrolet in Berlin for the last 25 years, until his retirement at the age of 78.
Surviving him are: one daughter, Anna-Lu and her husband John Lyons, of Hammonton; a brother, Anthony (Tony) Conte, of Vineland; three sisters, Louise Supino, of Newtown, Pa., Marie Zorzi, of Minotola; and Julia Santangini, of Philadelphia; and two grandchildren, Rosie and John.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial today at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Hammonton.
Internment followed at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hammonton.

Carmen Mazzagatti
Carmen Mazzagatti Sr., 83, of Hammonton, passed away on Saturday, December 8 [2001], at Kessler Memorial Hospital, Hammonton.
Born in Montreal, Canada, he was a resident of Hammonton most of his life where he owned and operated The Mazzagatti Cold Cuts Deli and Liquor Store along with his wife Jennie and Family, retiring in 1980 after 20 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of W.W. II serving in Asiatic Pacific Theater and was honored by receiving the Army of Occupation Asiatic Pacific Campaign, Good Conduct & W.W. II Victory Medals. He also received the New Jersey highest military award, The Distinguished Service Medal. He was a member of the V.F.W. Passalaqua Post # 1026, Hammonton. Mr. Mazzagatti was a former member and past president in 1974 and 1975 of the Hammonton Rotary Club.
Surviving him are: wife of 63 years Jennie; daughter; Lucille and Frank Amedio of Hammonton; sons, Dr.’s Nicholas and Claire Mazzagatti, of Voorhees, N.J. and Carmen Jr. and Cassy Mazzagatti of Burnsville, N.C., Alice Mazzagatti of Hammonton; sister, Ann Silipigni of Hammonton; brothers, Bennie and Joseph of Hammonton, Peter of Cherry Hill, and 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Janet M. Alvarado
Janet M. Alvarado, 47, of Mullica Township, wife of the late Felix, died Thursday, December 6 [2001], at William B. Kessler Hospital, in Hammonton.
Born in Ventnor, she was an area resident all her life. She was a graduate of Edgewood Regional High School class of 1972 and worked many years at Winslow Motor Lodge. Janet was a talented artist and received a scholarship at Atlantic County Community College.
Surviving her are: parents, Janet R. and Joseph Iona of Mullica Township; brothers, Thomas Iona of Hammonton, Bruce Iona of Smithville, , and Carey Iona of Atco.
She was the loving niece of Calvin and Carla Beebe and Carolyn Stewart; and the aunt of many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends attended a viewing on Monday, December 10, at Marinella Funeral home, followed by an interment at Pleasant Mills Cemetery in Batsto.
William J. Atturo
William J. Atturo, 69, of Blue Anchor, N.J., died Tuesday, December 4 [2001], at Virtua Health Systems, Berlin. Born in Philadelphia, he was a lifelong resident of Blue Anchor. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving him are: sisters, Nancy Lawson and Evelyn Atturo both of Blue Anchor, Connie Fonte of Hammonton, JoAnn Dischert of Voorhees; brother, Carlo Atturo of Somerdale; 11 nieces and nephews, four great nieces and nephews and six great great nieces and nephews.
Services were private and held at the convenience of the family.

Imogene Errera
Imogene M. Errera, 77, of Mullica Township, died on Friday, November 30 [2001], at William B. Kessler Hospital.
Born in Cook, Nebraska, she was an area resident for more than 55 years. She was employed by the State of New Jersey in the business office at Ancora State Hospital until her retirement in 1982. She was a former treasurer of Elwood Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, and served as bookkeeper for Shoreway Garage and Stomper Enterprises.
Surviving her are: husband, Charles J. Sr.; sons, William and wife Rebecca of Mays Landing, and Charles J. Jr. and wife Suzie of Sweetwater; daughter, Shirley G. and husband Gary Weeks of Port Republic; five grandchildren, Karen and Peter Weeks, Samantha, Sage and Sydney Errera.

Barbara Ann West
Barbara Ann (nee Sbarra) West, 32, of Hammonton, died Saturday, May 19 [2001] at Cooper Medical Center in Camden, as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident.
Born in Vineland, West was a lifelong Hammonton resident. She was a teacher at the Pleasantville Charter School. She was a 1986 graduate of Hammonton High School and a graduate of Glassboro State College. She was a member of the Glassboro State softball team, where she excelled in pitching. She was also a pitcher for the Adamucci Oilers softball team. In 1996, West was inducted into the Hammonton All Sports Boosters' Hall of Fame.
Surviving her are: her husband, Brian K. West, of Hammonton; her parents, Anthony C. "Saboo" Sbarra and Sue Ann (nee DeLucca) Sbarra, of Hammonton; one brother, Anthony "Tony" Sbarra and his wife Tami, of Hammonton; and her mother-in-law, Jean V. West, of Mount Holly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 24, at St. Joseph's RC Church on N. Third Street in Hammonton, and may call on Wednesday evening, May 23, after 6:30 p.m. and again on Thursday morning, May 24, after 8:30 a.m.

Samuel Perino
Samuel Perino, 89, of Hammonton, died Saturday, May 12 [2001], at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in Hammonton, Perino was a lifelong resident. He was a retired farmer and also worked at Hammonton High School as a custodian for many years.

Joseph D. Battaglia
Joseph D. Battaglia, 87, of Hammonton, died Friday, May 18 [2001], at his residence.
Born in Hammonton, Battaglia was an area resident all his life. He owned and operated White Horse Farm of Hammonton until his retirement at the age of 85. He was one of the five original founders of Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in the years of 1964-1965 in the planning stages. He was a member of the Camden County Farm Bureau, Glassboro, and the Labor Board and Negotiation Team. He was a director of the Sweet Potato Industry, a member of the Board of Managers of Rutgers University, and an officer of the NJ Tomato Growers Association. Battaglia also served as a charter member and director of Kessler Hospital for more than 33 years, recently director emeritus. A community leader, Battaglia was a chairman and director of Production Credit of Moorestown for 33 years, director of the Glassboro Service Assn., and he served on the negotiation committee for Garden State Service Co-op Labor. He was a member of the PCA element of the Board of Farm Credit Service, where he served for more than 33 years. Battaglia was an innovator who introduced flood irrigation to area farms, and was the first southern New Jersey area farmer to run sprinklers via engine-driven pumps. He was the first fruit grower to try hedgerow tree planting.
Surviving him are: his wife of 58 years, Anna (Curreri); two daughters, Joanne and her husband John Wiessner, of Hammonton, and Eileen and her husband Olly Paretti, of Hammonton; one brother, Thomas Dick Battaglia, of Hammonton; one sister, Jennie LoBiondo, of Lewes, Del.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Roberta Tolentino Reyes, MD
Roberta Tolentino Reyes, MD, 67, of Hammonton, died Tuesday, May 15 [2001], at her residence.
Born in Obando, Bulacan Philippines, Reyes lived in Hammonton for 26 years. She graduated from the University of Santo Tomas College of Medicine in Manila, Philippines in 1955. She served her internship in the Bronxville Hospital in NY from 1956-1957, and her residency in pediatrics at St. Catherine Hospital in NY from 1957-1959. She served her residence in general practice at Montgomery Hospital in Pa. from 1959-1960. She worked as a staff physician at Ancora State Hospital from 1973-1998. She was a member of the UST Medical Alumni Association, the Philippine-American Society of NJ and the Altar Rosary Society of St. Joseph's Church.
Surviving her are: her husband, Ruben Famy Reyes, MD; two sons, Rowell and his wife Gloria, of Burlington, and Rodney and his wife Elizabeth, of Absecon; two daughters, Rissa Trofa and her husband Andrew, of Ocean City, and Rinna Lin and her husband Sheldon, of Chatham, NJ; two brothers and three sisters in the Philippines; and she was the loving grandmother of eight, Andrew and Nathaniel Trofa, Rheana Reyes, Ryan and Rachel Reyes, Anna, Jeffrey and Julia Lin.
