William J. Duffy
William J. Duffy, 97, of Camp Hill, Pa., and formerly of Hammonton, died Monday, January 1, 2001, at Pinnacle Health Hospital in Harrisburg, Pa.
Duffy owned and operated his own home improvement business. Duffy was responsible for giving Villanova University the nickname “Wildcats”. At the time, he was the field manager for Villanova’s football team.
Surviving him are: his wife, Helen E. Duffy, of Willow Grove, Pa.; one daughter, Jean E. Duffy Polansky, of Landisville, Pa.; two sons, James W. Duffy, of Hatboro, Pa, and William J. Duffy, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 6, at St. Martin de Porres RC Church in Hammonton.
Entombment followed at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Mass cards.

Marie Elliott
Marie Elliott (Berenato), 79, of Chilhowie, Va., and formerly of Hammonton, died Saturday, December 30, 2000, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va.
Born in Philadelphia, Elliott lived in Hammonton most of her life before she moved to Virginia in 1997.
Elliott was predeceased by her husband, Aaron B. Elliott.
Surviving her are: her son, Aaron “Buzzy” Elliott Jr. and his wife Barbara, of Hammonton; her daughter, Cindy Adrasto and her husband Robert, of Abingdon, Va.; and she was the loving grandmother of three.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 5, at St. Martin de Porres Church in Hammonton.
Burial followed at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton.

Josef S. Jacynyk
Josef S. Jacynyk, 48, of Atco, died January 2, 2001, at West Jersey Hospital in Marlton.
Born in Philadelphia, Jacynyk was a lifelong resident of Atco. He was a teacher of building trades at South Woods State Prison in Bridgeton. He was a member of the Communications Workers of America AFL-CIO Local 1040.
Surviving him are: his wife, Karen Jacynyk (nee LoSasso), of Atco; two daughters, Alexandria Jacynyk and Natalee Jacynyk, both at home; his parents, Josef and Margot Jacynyk, of Atco; three sisters, Marianne J. Smith, of Falls Church, Va., Erica Jacynyk-DiMeo, of Hammonton, and Christine Giannascoli, of Mullica Twp.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 6, at Assumption RC Church in Atco.

Frank J. Carlamere
Frank J. Carlamere, 80, of Atlantic City, and formerly of Hammonton, died January 1, 2001, in his home.
Born in Hammonton, Carlamere lived there until 1985, when he moved to Atlantic City. Carlamere was a sales account agent for All-State Insurance Co. He was a WWII Army veteran.
Surviving him are: his wife, Florence C. (nee Villari), of Atlantic City.; two sons, Dr. Carl Carlamere and his wife Deobrah, of Malden, Mass., and David Carlamere, Esq., and his wife Cindy, of Blackwood; one daughter, Sandra Binger and her husband Roger, of Wall Twp.; one brother, Carl Carlamere, of Buena; eight grandchildren, David, Michelle, Steven, Sarah, Glen, Todd, David and Suzanne; and one great-grandson, Joseph.

The Rev. Joseph Mungari S.A.C.
The Rev. Joseph Mungari, S.A.C. , 81, of Bishop Eustace Prep School in Pennsauken, died Thursday, January 6, 2000, at Cooper Health System in Camden.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he attended Pallottine Seminary in Hammonton, at the current site of St. Joseph Convent, and was a member of the first graduating class. He was ordained July 26, 1945. Father Joe served as Pastor of St. Joseph Parish for two separate tenures. During his first tenure in 1966 he supervised the consttruction of St. Joseph Rectory. He used innovative methods to bring church and community together. He reached out to the town’s growing Hispanic community. He was also very active with the Hammonton Rescue Squad during both terms of his tenure. In 1978 he left St. Joseph to become pastor of All Saints Church in Brooklyn, NY. He then served as Vocation Director of the Immaculate Conception Province of the Pallottines. In 1989 Father Joe Mungari was a guest speaker on a local radio program called “The Message of Our Lady of Fatima,” a program dedicated to bringing Catholics back to the sacraments. He was also a guest host on the TV program of the same name. He soon became the permanent co-host for both programs and continued as such until his death. In 1990 Fr. Joe returned to St. Joseph Church in Hammonton and served as pastor until 1997. He was currently in residence at Bishop Eustace Prep School in Pennsauken where he met every first Saturday with Our Lady’s Radio Television and Internet Family. This group of volunteers under the direction of Fr. Joe made rosaries, help put spiritual books together, gave spiritual support and made themselves available to spread the word of God. Father Joe offered his audience free rosaries, booklets and other religious material during his shows. Requests were about 2,000 a month. He was a 3rd and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and chaplain of the Hammonton Rescue Squad, who made him an honorary lifetime member.
Surviving him are: three sisters, Bridget Carletta, of Rome, NY, Fannie Jones, of New Hartford, NY, and Carmella Militillo, of Rome, NY.

Catherine C. Angello (Cipo)
Catherine C. Angello (Cipo), 80, of Hammonton, wife of the late James J. Angello, and mother of the late James J. Angello, died Friday, January 7, 2000, at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in Hammonton, Angello was an area resident all her life. She was the vice-president of J.J. Angello Real Estate and Insurance until her retirement in 1992. She was a past Grand Regent and member of Catholic Daughters of America, Court Queen of Apostles #1680 of Hammonton. She was a former member of Soroptimist International of Hammonton, District II Director and North Atlantic Region Governor of Soroptimist. She was Soroptimist Federation Treasurer.
Surviving her are: her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Angello; one brother, Anthony Cipo, of Florida; one sister, Marie Monastra, of Atlantic City; and two grandsons, Eric & Brian Angello.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, January 11, at St. Martin de Porres Church in Hammonton. Burial followed at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hammonton.

Frank Werner Jr.
Frank (Skeet) Werner Jr., 56, of Somers Point, NJ, died Monday, January 3, 2000, at AC Hospital in Pomona.
Born in Phila., Pa., Werner lived in Hammonton and Port Richey, Fla. before moving to Somers Point two years ago. He was the owner of Skeet’s Rod and Reel Repair Shop in Somers Point.
Surviving him are: his wife, Ann (nee Barton); two sons, Frank Werner III, of Somers Point, and Michael Hontz, of Tampa, Fla.; one daughter, Dawn Hess, of Port Richet, Fla.; one sister, Marlane Vaniman, of Hammonton; and two grandchildren, Nichole Hess and Kristin Werner.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on Friday, January 7, at the Marinella Funeral Home. Burial followed at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton.

Joseph L. Gazzara Sr.
Joseph L. Gazzara Sr., 77, of Hammonton, died Saturday, January 8, 2000, at home.
Born in Hammonton, he was a lifelong resident. Gazzara was a production welder for IMO DeLaval Condenser and Filtration Systems in Florence, NJ. He was a member of the Hammonton Senior Citizens; a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3471 of the St. Vincent Pallotti Assembly; Marshal for Our Lady of Assumption Society in Hammonton; and an usher for St. Anthony of Padua RC Church where he did a lot of volunteer work. Gazzara also belonged to Local 661 Boilermakers, Blacksmiths and Shipbuilders.
Surviving him are: his wife, Frances A. (nee Pierce) Gazzara, of Hammonton; two sons, Joseph L. Gazzara Jr., of Placerville, Calif.; James C. Gazzara, of Hammonton; one daughter, Kathleen M. Gazzara, of Hammonton; one sister, Mary Capaccio, of Hammonton; three brothers, Frank Gazzara, of Hammonton, Matthew R. Gazzara, of Hammonton, and Charles S. Gazzara, of Hammonton; and one granddaughter, Elena Frances Gazzara.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial today at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church on Route 206 in Hammonton. Burial followed at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.

Marie S. Eckhardt
Marie S. Eckhardt, 96, of Folsom, wife of the late Jack, a former mayor of Folsom, died Tuesday, January 4, 2000, at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.
Born in Virginia, Eckhardt was an area resident for 94 years. She was a retired schoolteacher and taught in Egg Harbor City and Folsom schools. She was a graduate of the University of Virginia and was a member of the Delphian Study Club of Hammonton. She was a former member of the Hammonton Library.
Surviving her are: one son, George Eckhardt, of Wilton, Ct.; two daughters, Margaret Roush, of Essex, Ct., and Kathy Gaudet, of Kampala, Uganda; one brother, Paul Shutters, of Quicksburg, Va.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on Saturday, January 8, at St. James Lutheran Church in Folsom.
Burial followed at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Cemetery in Folsom.
