Dorothy O. Spangler
Dorothy O. Spangler, 83, of Hammonton and formerly of Folsom died Saturday, September 6, at Meadowview Nursing Center in Williamstown.
Born in Philadelphia she was a Folsom area resident for more than 50 years. Mrs. Spangler served as the Borough Clerk and Court Clerk for the Borough of Folsom for 43 years before retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Folsom Fire Department.
Predeceased by husband, Joseph F. Spangler Sr.; son, Joseph F. Spangler Jr.
Surviving her are: daughter, Judith A. Masi and husband Nicholas of Hammonton; daughter-in-law, Carolyn B. Spangler of Folsom; brother, David McDevitt and wife Bert of Philadelphia; sisters, Alice Rippert and husband Francis of Philadelphia, Janet Bassara of Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Jane Lacoe of Scranton; brother-in-law, William Spangler and wife Sandra of Fla.; six grandsons; ten great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on Tuesday, September 9, at St. James Lutheran Church followed by burial at St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

Mildred Thomas
Mildred Thomas (nee Sirolli) of Winslow, died Monday, September 8, in William B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton. Born in Winslow she was a lifelong resident.
Thomas was a sewing machine operator for Joe Palma Clothes in Hammonton. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and was the past President of the Winslow Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving her are: daughter, Patty Gleason of Winslow; son, Edward Thomas of Hammonton; brother, Joseph Sirolli Sr. of Elm; grandchildren, Brian Thomas, Michelle Campanella, Michael Gleason; great-grandchildren, Kristen, Joey.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on Thursday, September 11, at the Carnesale Funeral Home followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Ronald S. Pietrofitta
Ronald S. Pietrofitta, 40, of Lakeland, Fla., died after a lengthy illness on August 5, 2003.
Born in Hammonton, he was an area resident for 16 years and attended Mainland High School before moving to Florida where he graduated from Flagler Beach High School.
Surviving him are: mother, Cordelia Correia; father, Sam Pietrofitta; stepmother, Eleanor; brother, Michael; sister-in-law, Cindy; stepsisters, Karen and Kathleen; four nephews; three nieces; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, September 27, at 7 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church in Brigantine.

Gordon Gary Geise
Gordon Gary Geise, 60, of Hammonton, died Wednesday, September 17, at his residence.
Born in Hammonton, he lived in Folsom most of his life but resided in Hammonton for the past two years. He was a 1960 graduate of Hammonton High School, attended the Newcomb Hospital School of Medical Technicians working as a technician for two years and in the microbiology department of Green Giant Corporation in Vineland for 16 years. He also worked for the Showboat Casino in both East Chicago, Ind. and Atlantic City. He last worked in the maintenance department of the Richard Stockton College for the past five years before retiring in 2003. He played the trumpet in the Egg Harbor Masonic Band, was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians, Society of American Magicians, and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Surviving him are: wife, Sandra (nee Hughes); sons, Gordon Gary II of Washington, DC, Robert A. of Corbin City; mother, Alverta F. Geise of Vineland.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on Saturday, September 20 at the Landolfi Funeral Home. Interment will be private.

Marietta Ordille
Marietta Ordille, 91, of Hammonton died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at Heritage Assisted Living in Hammonton.
Born in Hammonton, she was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Hammonton High School, Class of 1930. She served in the United States Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps. during WWII and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Queen of Apostle.
Surviving her are: brothers, John of Hallandale, Fla.; Charles and wife Rose of Hammonton; William and wife Patricia of Hammonton; Robert and wife Rose of Egg Harbor Twp.; many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends attended Mass on Friday, October 3, at St. Joseph Church followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Anthony Durante
Anthony Durante, 36, of Westerly, R.I. and formerly of Philadelphia and Hammonton died Thursday, September 25, at home.
Born in Hammonton, he lived in Rhode Island for the past year. Mr. Durante was a former wrestler with the “Pitbull” tag-team in the ECW from 1989-1997. He wrestled in Europe, Germany and Japan. Mr. Durante was a soft coin counter for Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.
Surviving him are: children, Angelina Marianna Durante and Anthony Alfredo Durante both of Westerly; mother and stepfather: Anna (nee Lubrano) and Giuseppe DiGenova of Westerly; father, Carlo Durante of Italy; brother Ciro Durante of Westerly.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, October 2, at St. Martin de Porres RC Church followed by burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

William D. DeStefano
William D. DeStefano, 94, of Hammonton died Wednesday, October 8, 2003 in William B. Kessler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Winslow, he was a lifelong area resident. DeStefano was an army veteran of World War II. He was a clerk for the New Jersey Central Railroad, a Past Master and Secretary of the Artisans Order.
Surviving him are: brothers, Orlando DeStefano of Hammonton, Anthony DeStefano of Hammonton; sisters, Desi DeStefano of Hammonton, Katherine Orsini of Manassas, Va.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, October 11, 2003 at St. Joseph’s RC Church followed by entombment in New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.

Helen M. Schmaldienst
Helen M. Schmaldienst (nee Macri), 83, of Hammonton and formerly of Egg Harbor died Friday, October 10, 2003 in Greenbriar Nursing Center, Hammonton.
Mrs. Schmaldienst was born in New Bedford, Mass., and lived in the South Jersey area for many years,
Surviving her are: sons, Sam Baglio of Egg Harbor, Charles Baglio and wife Kimberly of Edgewater, Fla.; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.

Diana French-Graf
Diana Megan French-Graf, 27, died suddenly and unexpectedly in Philadelphia at Presbyterian Hospital early Thursday morning, September 18, 2003.
A resident of Manayunk she resided in Philadelphia for the last several years. Diana was born in Trenton and educated in the Green Bank, Winslow and Hammonton public schools. She was a 1994 graduate of Hammonton High School. She briefly attended George School and ACC. Diana fought a long battle with drug addiction and in recent years she endured the complications of heart failure and methadone maintenance.
Surviving her are: mother, Morgana P. French; sister, Rebecca French-Mesch; stepfather, Joseph N. Mesch all of Hammonton; father, Jack W. Graf; brother Jeremy; sisters, Nicole, Jennifer of Cumberland Gap, Ky.; grandparents Joe and Anita Graf of Crosswicks; uncles, Joseph of Rancocas, James of Morrisville; aunts, Kathy of Toms River, Roberta of Smithville, and their families.
Friends and relatives attended a memorial service on Sunday, October 12, at the Winslow Methodist Church.

Alice D’Amico (nee Hudy), 91, of Waterford, died Monday, October 13, 2003, at her residence.
Born in Philadelphia, she lived in Waterford for many years.
Predeceased by husband, Louis. Surviving her are: daughters, Alice Havener of Jacksonville, Louise Falconi and husband Frank of Waterford, Mildred Peditto with husband Joseph of Hobe Sound; sister, Stella Chmiel of Philadelphia; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended Mass Saturday, October 18, at St. Anthony Church in Waterford followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Laura B. Johnson
Laura B. Johnson (nee Swede), 55, of Flint, Mich., died Monday, October 13, 2003 at Ann Arbor University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
A former resident of Brooklyn, she moved to Ancora in 1958. She graduated from Edgewood Regional High School and was employed for two years at the Hammonton News after graduation. Mrs. Johnson moved to Flint and later graduated from the University of Michigan Law School. After passing the Michigan bar exam, she worked as a lawyer for several years.
Surviving her are: mother, Adelaide Swede of Hammonton; husband, Gordon; children, Heather, Joshua, Benjamin; three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Michigan and burial was private.

Gloria Burton Macaluso
Gloria Burton Macaluso, 76, of Elwood, died Saturday, October 11, 2003, at Greenbriar Nursing Center, Hammonton.
Born in Philadelphia, she graduated from Tuckerton High School Class of 1945. She retired from N.J. Bell in 1987 after 35 years of service and was a member of the H.G. McCully Telephone Pioneers of America.
Surviving her are: son, Anthony with whom she resided; daughter, Joanne Griffin of Nesco; grandchildren, Jennifer, John of Nesco.
Services are private at the convenience of the family.
