Before retiring, he was an art and sculpture teacher for the Art Students League, New York City.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.

FLORENCE LaBELLA CAPPETTA of West Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Bloomfield and Wayne, died Monday.

She was a member of the Elks Lodge 2181 Auxiliary and the Republican Club, both in Wayne.
She was a volunteer at Wayne General Hospital and Preakness Hospital.

PETER "SHADOW" CASBAR, 72, of Branchville, formerly of Palisades Park, died Monday.
He had been a union representative for Becton Dickinson, Rutherford, for 45 years.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

HERTA BULLMAN COSTELLO of New Milford died Tuesday.
Before retiring, she was a housekeeper for Woodcrest Center Nursing Home, New Milford.

ERIK J. FRIIS, 86, of Montvale died Monday. Born in Norway, he came to the United States in 1929.
Before retiring in 1978, he was an editor for the American Scandinavian Foundation, New York City, where he worked for 25 years.
Subsequently, he was an editor for the Library of Nordic Literature book series and for the Norwegian Trade Bulletin.
He had also worked as an author, proofreader, and translator.
He was president of the Scandinavian-American Business Association, the Norway Ski Club, and the Gjoa Sporting Club.
He was vice president of the Scandinavian-American Society and the Norwegian Club and was a member of the Fellow Explorers Club.

ANGELA SARRECCHIA FURNARI of Ortley Beach, formerly of Nutley, died Tuesday. She owned Garry's Coiffeurs, North Arlington, for 10 years, and had been a hairdresser there.
She was a former organist for Holy Family Church, Nutley.

JEAN L. HOPKINS HARTUNG, 72, of Waldwick, formerly of Ridgewood, died Tuesday.
She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth R.C. Church, Wyckoff.
She was a member of the High Mountain Golf Club, Franklin Lakes.
She was a volunteer for The Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Ridgewood.

FLORENCE DI LEO HEMPEL, 72, of Little Falls died Tuesday.
Before retiring last year, she was a bilingual teacher in the Clifton school system. She owned the Great Notch Inn, West Paterson.
She was a parishioner of Holy Angels R.C. Church, Little Falls.
She was a member of Healing the Children, Butler, and the Great Notch Association, Little Falls. She also was a member of the state and national education associations.

ROSE KERN HUBER, 90, of Hawthorne died Wednesday.
She was a parishioner of St. Paul R.C. Church, Prospect Park, and a member of its Rosary Society.

RUBIN ROBERT LEIBOWITZ, 75, of Teaneck died Monday.
