He was born in Poland.

He was active in the YM-YWHA and the Community Synagogue/Hebrew Free School, Paterson, and Congregation B'nai Israel and the Veritan's Club, both in Fair Lawn.

Before retiring in 1977, she was a sewing machine operator employed by various Paterson garment factories.
Subsequently, she was a salon assistant at Josephine's Beauty Salon, Paterson, until 1989.
She was a parishioner of St. James R. C. Church, Totowa, and a former parishioner of St. Anthony R. C. Church, Paterson.
She was a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union Local 134.

SHIRLEY DAVIS, 86, of Westwood died Saturday.
She was born in Turkey.
She had been headmistress and elementary French teacher of Miss Fine's Preparatory School, Princeton.
She was a member of Friends of the Westwood Library, Westwood.
A graduate of Swarthmore College and the International School, Geneva, Switzerland, she received a master's degree in French from Middlebury College, Vt.

Before retiring in 1996, he was a patternmaker for Positive Influence Corp., Queens, N.Y., where he worked for 20 years.

She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Lyndhurst, where she was a charter member of the Seniors Group.
She was a member of the Seniors, and a past president of the World War I Auxiliary, both in Lyndhurst.

JOSEPH MAKOWKA, 55, of Rochelle Park died Tuesday.
He was an electronics technician for the U.S. Postal Service, South Hackensack, where he worked for 15 years. An Air Force veteran, he was a member of the American Legion, Rochelle Park.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin R.C. Church, Garfield.

JOHN F. MARASS, 79, of Rutherford, formerly of Lyndhurst, died Monday.
Before retiring, he was a seaman for the Military Sea Transport Service and for Exxon Oil.
Previously, he was a printer for the Bergen Record and the Rutherford Republican. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 109, Rutherford.
He was a volunteer driver for the Red Cross and Starfish, and a coach for recreation baseball and softball, all in Rutherford.

HENRY L. MENENDEZ, 83, of Pompton Plains died Monday.
Before retiring in 1981, he was a plant personnel supervisor for Blickman Equipment Co., Union City, where he worked for 40 years.
He was a member and past master of Mountain View Masonic Lodge 154; the Scottish Rite, Lincoln Park; the York Rite; and past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 205, Wayne.
