Before retiring in 1968, he was a professor of geology at City College of New York, with which he was associated for 40 years and where he had served as department chairman.
He was a graduate of City College of New York and received his doctorate from Columbia University.
He was co-author of "Land Forms" and the author of "Plantation Surfaces."
He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, Branchburg, and a former member of the Paramus Board of Education.
