Previously, he was a special police officer in Weehawken, where he worked for 10 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Civil Defense, Weehawken. HELEN J. BARTSCH BIESZARD, 74, of Glen Rock, formerly of Hawthorne, died Wednesday. Before retiring in 1986, she worked for Paulist Press, Mahwah, for 20 years. She was a member of the Community Church of Glen Rock, where she was a member of its Women's Guild and choir. She was a former Cub Scout leader, past president of the Hamilton School PTA, both in Glen Rock, and a member of the Ridgewood Choral group. Arrangements: Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, Hawthorne.

LUCY CALDERARO, 89, of Clifton died Thursday. Before retiring, she worked in the garment industry. She was a parishioner of St. Andrew R.C. Church, and a former parishioner of St. Philip R.C. Church, where she was a member of its Rosary Society, all of Clifton. She was a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union. JOSEPHINE DROZD DEYUNN, 74, of Clifton, formerly of Passaic, died Wednesday. Before retiring, she worked for U.S. Rubber Co., Passaic. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph R.C. Church, and a member of the St. Stephen R.C. Church Bingo Committee, both in Passaic. Arrangements: Kamienski Funeral Home, Wallington.
MARY ELLEN ALTEMOSE DI PALMA, 60, of Waldwick died Thursday. Before retiring in 1996, she was a secretary for Waldwick High School. She was a member of the Waldwick United Methodist Church, where she was treasurer of the Women's Society and past secretary of the Sunday school. She was a former member of the Women's Club, a member of the PTA executive board, and leader of Girl Scout Troop 955, all in Waldwick. Arrangements: Vander Plaat Funeral Home, Wyckoff.
GRETA I. HEINKICH DUTHIE, 54, of Maywood died Tuesday. She was the national sales manager for Panasonic Inc., Secaucus. Arrangements: Trinka-Faustini Funeral Home, Maywood.
THOMAS E. FANTRY, 75, of Washington Township died Thursday. Before retiring in 1985, he was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Cliffside Park, where he worked for 35 years. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6192, Washington Township, and American Legion Post 199, Hawthorne. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, Washington Township, where he was an usher. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 5427, the Golden Seniors, both in Washington Township, and the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps Alumni. ELIZABETH M. KELLY FEENEY, 78, of Hasbrouck Heights, formerly of West New York, died Wednesday. She was a secretary for John Marshall Law School. She was a parishioner of Corpus Christi R.C. LESLIE M. GELLER, 67, of Paramus died Wednesday. Before retiring, he was an attorney in Hackensack and Paramus. Previously, he was a prosecutor in Paramus. He was also an assistant professor at Hofstra University in New York, where he taught business law. He was the author of the book "North Cape and Other Poems," and "Strategy Zoning." A 1952 graduate of Dartmouth University, he received a juris doctorate from Harvard University. Arrangements: Louis Suburban Chapel, Fair Lawn.
FAYE MASLOW GILBERT of Oakland, formerly of Paterson, died Thursday. She was a member of the First Aid Squad, Oakland. Arrangements: Louis Suburban Chapel, Fair Lawn.
WALTER R. HESPE, 89, of Ridgefield Park died Thursday. Before retiring 10 years ago, he was an attorney in Ridgefield Park for 50 years. He had also been house counsel for Fidelity Casualty Co., Newark. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a former magistrate, both in Ridgefield Park. The body was donated to science.
MARIE JEANNE CONAN JACQ, 86, of Whitefish Bay, Wis., formerly of Fair Lawn, died Wednesday. She was born in France. Before retiring in 1987, she was a custom lampshade maker. Arrangements: Vander Plaat Colonial Funeral Home, Fair Lawn.
