She had been president, treasurer, and arts creative chairwoman of The Contemporary Woman's Club of Washington Township, where she also served as it's 9th District special committee chairwoman of the Girls Career Institute, treasurer of the Past Presidents Club, and education chairwoman.
She was also divisional chairwoman of the ESO of the 9th District.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she participated in the Quilters for Missions and the Homebound Ministry.
She was a member and organist for Chapter 62 of the Order of the Eastern Star and served on the advisory board of Temple Assembly 32 Rainbow Girls.

She was a parishioner and leisure club member of St. Michael R.C. Church, Lyndhurst, and of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Newark.
She was past president of the Lyndhurst Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary and the Lyndhurst Garden Club.
She was a member of the PTA, the Historical Society, the Golden Age Club, and the Sacred Heart Seniors, all in Lyndhurst.

JOHN LEONARD DE BLOCK of Prospect Park died Saturday.
He had been a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Prospect Park, where he worked for 43 years.
He had also worked for William Paterson University, Wayne, for 10 years.
He was a member of Unity Christian Reformed Church.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was commander of the Prospect Park Memorial Post, the Riverside Vets, and the War Vets League. He also served as president of the Paterson Veterans Council and was a member of the Post Office Vets for over 50 years.
He was an organizer of the Prospect Park Boys Club and received the Greater Paterson Outstanding Service Award from then-U.S. Rep. Gordon Canfield.

He was also a member of the Old Guard of Rutherford.

Before retiring in 1978, he was a sales engineer for L. O. Koven, Jersey City, where he worked for 35 years.
He was a parishioner of St. Michael R.C. Church, Palisades Park, where he served as an usher.
He was a member of the Palisades Park Exempt Firemen's Association.
He had been president of the Little League and the Babe Ruth League, where he also coached, and was past chairman of the Recreation Commission, all in Palisades Park.
He also had been secretary of the Palisades Park High School Hall of Fame and a member of the Bergen County Umpires Association.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and was chaplain and past finance officer of the American Legion, Leonia.
He was past president of the Saddle River Valley Lions Club.
