He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a graduate of the Peabody Teachers College of Vanderbilt University and received a doctorate in education from Columbia University.
He was a member and elder of Germonds Presbyterian Church, New City, N.Y.

She was past president of the League of Women Voters, Clifton.
She was a 1943 graduate of Douglas College, New Brunswick, where she was a member of the Alumni Association.
