(nee Bradley) On May 22, 2007, age 96, of Collingswood. Pre-deceased by her beloved husband, The Rev. John Bartle Everts, a Methodist minister in the NY Conference. She is survived by her son, John B., Jr. and his wife, Judith of Collingswood, her daughter, Deborah E. Behling and her husband, Richard of Chatham, NJ, 5 grandchildren, Gretchen Valianti (Christopher), Kristin Nyce (Mark), Bart Everts, Todd Behling (Janelle) and Suzanne Klabunde (Andrew), 6 great grandchildren, Carl and Megan Valianti, Matthew and Thomas Nyce, and Sarah and Allyson Klabunde and her sister, Lucile Goessling of N. Syracuse, NY. Mrs. Everts was a member of P.E.O., Chapter W, Haddonfield for 53 years. An avid reader, she grew African violets and had a keen awareness and interest in other people. Additionally, her family was the first to have 4 sisters all graduate from Syracuse Univ. Mrs. Everts’ family and friends are invited to her Memorial Service, Tuesday, 11 AM, in the Sanctuary of the Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Rd., Haddonfield, NJ 08033. (nee Taylor) On May 18, 2007, age 97, of Collingswood, formerly a longtime resident of Oaklyn, and wife of the late Norvel E. Mervine, Frances Hawley
(nee Miles), age 90, the widow of Thomas Burritt Mervine, M.D., died at The Evergreens in Moorestown, NJ on May 16, 2007.
A resident of Haddonfield, NJ for over 50 years, Mrs. Mervine was known for her fashionable attire, up-to-the minute home décor, love of travel and the joy of ballroom dancing with her husband, a noted surgeon.
She grew up in Milton, PA, the daughter of Oscar and Angeline Miles and was a graduate of Bucknell University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi fraternity for women remaining involved as an alumna.
Following her marriage in 1941, she became active in “Doctors’ Wives” groups including the Barton Committee at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and Underwood Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, NJ.
She was an active member of The Haddon Fortnightly Woman’s Club, The Haddonfield Assembly, Tavistock Country Club, The Union League of Philadelphia and The Haddonfield United Methodist Church.
Her survivors include 3 children: Thomas B. Mervine, Jr. (Deborah) of Haddonfield; Anne Mervine Engelhardt (Peter) of Summit; and Lina Mervine Bales, of Ponte Vedra, FL, six grandchildren: Christopher Anne Mervine (Christopher, Jr.) of Haddonfield; T. Burritt Mervine, III, of Philadelphia; Laura Castleblanco-Engelhardt (David) of New York City; Alexis Engelhardt Bogdan (Nicholas)of Alexandria, VA; J.D. Bales and Dean Bales of Ponte Vedra, FL and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday, May 21, 2007 in the chapel of the Evergreens, 309 Bridgeboro Rd., Moorestown, NJ at noon. The family will receive visitors at 11 AM. Interment private.

Jones, Tom
On May 16, 2007, age 75, a longtime Haddonfield resident and beloved husband of Sandy (nee Berumen). Also survived by his sons, Brian (Rachel) of London, England and Tim (Kirsten) of Bethesda, MD, his grandson, Anderson and his sister, Sue Brosius of Seattle, WA. He attended West Chester HS and Iowa State University. During the Korean War, he served in Germany with U.S. Army Intelligence. Mr. Jones was an acoustical contractor for 50 years, serving as President of Jones Ceilings and The Jones Co. Additionally, he was a longtime member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, Tavistock Country Club and the Rotary Club of Haddonfield. Mr. Jones’ family and friends are invited to his Memorial Service, Saturday, 2 PM, at the Haddonfield Friends Meeting, Friends Ave., Haddonfield; where his family will receive friends following the service. Interment, private. Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Jones’ name to the First Church of Christ Scientist, 355 Kings Hwy. E., Haddonfield, NJ 08033 or to the Rotary Club of Haddonfield, P.O. Mecray, Justine
(nee Eiseman), 95, died peacefully on May 14, 2007. A forty-year resident of Haddonfield, Mrs. Mecray had lived the past 23 years at Medford Leas.
Born in St. Louis MO, she attended the John Burroughs School that was founded by her parents. She graduated from Vassar College and subsequently received a Masters Degree from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work in St. Louis. She married Dr. Paul Mecray, Jr. in July 1935. They lived in Rochester MN, during Dr. Mecray’s residency at the Mayo Clinic, before moving to Riverton NJ. After World War II, they settled in Haddonfield where Dr. Mecray served as Chief of Surgery at Cooper Hospital.
Mrs. Mecray was active in many volunteer activities, including the American Cancer Society, League of Women Voters, and both the Haddonfield and Pinelands garden clubs. She helped found the Planned Parenthood Clinic of Southern New Jersey, receiving numerous civic awards for her dedication to women’s rights. For many years she was an accomplished gardener and, later, a guide at the Medford Leas Arboretum.
She is survived by Dr. Mecray, her husband of 72 years, and two children, Justine M. Opel of Albuquerque NM and Paul M. Mecray, III of Bryn Mawr PA, as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Dr. Ben Eiseman of Englewood CO and Frederick B. Eiseman Jr. of Scottsdale AZ.
A memorial service will be held at Medford Leas at 10.45 AM on Sunday, June 17.

Judson, G. Vernon, Jr., M.D.
On May 12, 2007, age 93, of Lancaster, PA, formerly of Haddonfield, NJ, and beloved husband of the late Catherine S. (nee Ritchie). Survived by 2 sons, James N., M.D. and his wife Charlotte of Milaca, MN and G. Thomas and his wife Penny of Burnsville, MN, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Dr. Judson graduated from Haddon Hts. HS in 1930, Univ. of Pennsylvania in 1934 and Thomas Jefferson University in 1938. He was a family practitioner in Barrington from 1938-1942. During WWII, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and served as a flight surgeon in the S. Pacific from 1942-1946. Subsequently he was promoted to Major. .Dr. Judson returned to Family Medicine in the South Jersey area and was one of the pride and joys at Cooper Hospital. He cared for patients until he retired in 1985. His family will receive friends on Saturday after 10 AM at the Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield, NJ. His service will follow at 11 AM. Interment, Locustwood Cem., Cherry Hill, NJ.
