NEWKIRK, MARGARET E.
(nee Weyant) On Aug. 22, 2006, age 81, a 34 year resident of Haddonfield, a member of Tavistock Country Club for more than 47 years and the beloved wife of Ralph W., Jr. for 60 years. She is also survived by 2 sons, Ralph W., III and his wife Halena, of Farmington, MI and Bradley J. and his wife Karen, of Greensboro, NC, 1 daughter, Lynda Buenzle and her husband Larry, of Haddon Hts., 6 grandchildren, Julie, Michelle, Ryan, Tyler, Kaitlyn and Conor, and 2 great grandchildren, Kinsleigh and Addison. During her life she was a caregiver when any of her friends were seriously ill. Her life was devoted to her family; making sure they were brought up properly and had the good love of an at home mother. Mrs. Newkirk’s family will receive friends on Friday Eve. 6-9 PM at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield, NJ and on Saturday morning 9-9:45 AM in Felten Parlor at the Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Rd., Haddonfield, NJ 08033. Her Service will follow at 10 AM in the Sanctuary. Interment, Methodist Cem., Haddonfield. FRICKE, ROGER H.
On Aug. 11, 2006, age 86, a resident of Haddonfield for over 50 years, retired from RCA in Camden in 1985 after 43 years of service as an Electrical Engineer and beloved husband for 52 years to Patricia A. (nee Pike). Also survived by 4 children, Jennifer Sawchuk of Westmont, Todd Fricke of Factoryville, PA, Wynn Fricke of Minneapolis, MN and Bryan Fricke of Haddonfield, 11 grandchildren and 1 brother, Roland Fricke of Littleton, CO. Mr. Fricke’s family invites friends and relatives to a Gathering at his home, 516 Woodland Ave., Haddonfield on Saturday, Aug. 26th, 1-4 PM; where there will be an informal service at 2 PM. Suddenly on August 3, 2006, age 40, of Haddonfield, formerly of Southern CA and graduate of Temple City High School. She was an avid reader and animal lover. Carlene is survived by her mother, Elaine Swiderski and her step-father, Joseph Mandeville of Hacienda Hts., CA, her sister, Suzanne Jones and her husband Barry, 1 niece, Kristina Jones, 1 nephew, Blake Jones, all of Haddonfield, 1 step-brother, Joey Mandeville of Hacienda Hts., CA, her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Swiderski ,of Burlington, NJ and her 2 cats, Gilby and Star. Bowen, Charles M.
On July 21, 2006, age 86, of Marlton, formerly of Haddonfield, and beloved husband of the late Ellen Louise Rice. Mr. Bowen is survived by his 2 sons, David M. and his wife, Vicki A., of Arnold, MD and C. Keith and his wife Lynn E., of Annapolis, MD, and 2 grandchildren, Andrew and Abigal, of Annapolis. Mr. Bowen was born in Camden, NJ and grew up in Haddonfield. He graduated from Ursinus College in 1941. Following graduation he served in the US Navy, Stag One Squadron, flying Avenger torpedo bombers in the Pacific theatre. Upon returning from the war, he settled in York, PA and worked in the Accounting Department of the York Corporation. He later moved to Elmira, NY and worked there as the Controller of the American LaFrance Company and the CFO of the Arnot-Ogden Memorial Hospital. He returned to South Jersey as the CFO of the West Jersey Health System (now Virtua) and later as a consultant for Shared Medical Systems (now Siemens) in Malvern, PA. Mr. Bowen was a long time member of the Haddonfield United Methodist Church and Tavistock CC. Mr. Bowen’s family will receive friends, Saturday, Aug. 12, after 10 AM in the Felten Parlor of the Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Rd., Haddonfield. FRANTZ, WILLIAM (Bill) T.
Died Sunday, July 30 at home in Miramar, Florida, surrounded by family after a long illness at age 83. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, who was the love of his life and his brother Ken. He is survived by his son William T. (Tom) Frantz, Jr. and wife Judith, his daughter Joan Frantz Richards and husband Dick, grandchildren, Albert Richards, William Richards and fiancé Natalie, William T. Frantz, III., Beth Richards Coes and husband Richard, John Arnold Frantz, two great grandchildren, Al Richards and Riley Richards and his sister June Marie Wright.
Mr. Frantz was born on May 12, 1923 in Gatesville, Texas. He grew up in Trenton, NJ. He was the starting tackle on offense and defense from the time he stepped on the field as a freshman at the University of Miami. He was the Captain of the team in 1947 that won the Orange Bowl, and was selected as one of Miami’s first All Americans. He received his MA from Columbia University. He married Barbara Murch and lived in Haddonfield, NJ for twenty seven years. He taught Physical Education and Drivers Education. He was also the head wrestling coach at Haddonfield Memorial High School with a record of 135–41-1 with three state champions, Gene Kain, Chick Sherwood and Ronnie Biglan. He won 13 straight conference championships. He was helped with coaching by his great friend, Joe Foulk. He was inducted into the South Jersey Wrestling Hall of Fame. He and his daughter Joan are the only father and daughter combination in the Haddonfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
He also was the line coach for the football team along with his lifelong friends Russ Spicer, Al Gant and Leo Castle. They spent many years producing winning teams but more importantly teaching values and helping build character to all the many athletes they coached.
While living in Haddonfield, he was the Recreation Director for many years.
After retirement Bill spent his winters in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and summers in Linville, NC.
He will be remembered as the kindest and gentlest Bulldog that ever walked the face of the earth.
Mr. Frantz’ family will receive friends Thursday eve.,( Aug. 3rd) from 7:00-9:00PM and again on Friday morning (Aug. 4th) after 10AM . Services will follow at the funeral home on Friday morning at 11:00 am. Interment immediately following at Locustwood Cem. in Cherry Hill. Memorial donations in Mr. Frantz’ name may be made to the HMHS Athletic Hall of Fame, c/o Joe O’Neill, 30 Washington Ave., Haddonfield, NJ 08033.

On July 24, 2006, age 77, of Collingswood, wife of the late Jose Rodolfo Masclans, an exemplary mother and wife who was loved by her family and friends. Mrs. Masclans is survived by her 2 sons, Jose L., of Haddonfield, J. David, of Frankfort, Germany, a daughter, Annette C. Rocha, of L.A., CA, 7 grandchildren and 1 brother, Abraham Cabrera, of Toronto, CN.
