On July 7, 2006, age 65, a resident of Haddonfield for 20 years and the beloved husband of Patricia (nee Lamb). Survived by 6 children, Elizabeth A. Le (Thai) of Browns Mills, NJ, Emily S. Matusieski (Chris) of Collingswood, J. Michael Flynn, Jr. (Kelly Lenzi) of Margate, NJ, Lesley A. Flynn, Jared M. Flynn and Hailey P. Flynn all of Haddonfield, 3 grandchildren and 1 brother Joseph Gary Flynn (Cristine) of Collingswood. Mr. Flynn grew up in Collingswood, graduated from Villanova University and joined the US Navy in 1962. He retired after 24 years of service as a Commander in 1986. Then he began his second career and retired after 19 years as the Clerk for the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. Mr. Flynn’s family will receive friends on Tuesday Evening, 7-9 PM, at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield, NJ. His Funeral Mass will follow on Wednesday Morning, 11 AM, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 809 Park Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Interment, Calvary Cem., Cherry Hill, NJ.
WORTHINGTON, HENRY R., JR.
On June 30, 2006, age 89, of Mt. Laurel, formerly a longtime resident of Cherry Hill and husband of Louise (nee Strode). Also survived by 2 sons, H. Russell, III and Richard S., 3 grandchildren, Carrie, Jennie, and Ricky and 1 sister, Eleanore Hart of New Holland, PA. Mr. Worthington was in charge of the grounds at the Cherry Hill Public School System for 21 years. Additionally, he volunteered at the Ashland Fire Co. #2 for many years and was a lifetime member. WARKE, MARGARET C.
On June 26, 2006, age 87, a resident of Haddonfield for 63 years and sister of the late Mary Neeld and Sarah Warke. Survived by her loving sister, Martha Warke of Haddonfield and 5 nieces and nephews, Mary Ellen Barningham, Martha Burgess, Paul Neeld, Franklin Neeld and Margaret Dickler. (nee Parmentier) On June 13, 2006, age 72, of Cherry Hill, formerly a longtime resident of Haddonfield and wife of the late Malcolm J. Mrs. Baresel was a Speech Therapist who retired from Clementon School System. She was active in Haddonfield’s Democratic Party. She is survived by 2 daughters, Tara J. Baresel-Dennen (Peter) and Karynna A. Baresel (Rick Lutz), 2 granddaughters, Sydney & Camaryn Dennen, 1 sister, Louise McKay and 1 brother Gary Parmentier. CORDIER, RAY H.
On June 10, 2006, of Naples, FL & Ocean City, NJ, beloved son of M. Elizabeth (nee Smith) and the late Lee Cordier. Ray graduated from Lansdowne High School and PCPS. He served in the US Naval Reserves in WWII as a pilot. He was employed by Eli Lilly & Co. (Pharmaceuticals) for 37 years. He enjoyed tennis his entire life and was rated in the Jr. Davis Cup. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marion (nee Dickerson), his 4 children, Ray (Nancy), David (Mary), Lisa Veit (Carl) and Kimberlee Burgo (David); his grandchildren, Nicole Bowman, Pearson Veit, Andrew Burgo, Gabrielle Burgo and Vienna Cordier. Mr. Cordier’s funeral will be held privately. Rear Admiral Paul C. Huelsenbeck
Rear Admiral Paul C. Huelsenbeck, a Cherry Hill resident who commanded destroyer escorts and other vessels during World War II and later oversaw Naval Reserve units in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, died June 10th at age 91.
He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1937 and was assigned at the start of World War II to a Grand Banks fishing trawler requisitioned by the Navy. He commanded this vessel during its conversion at Boston Navy Yard, its transit to the Pacific and through the Guadalcanal Campaign.
He was later named executive officer of a destroyer escort, the USS McNULTY, in the Atlantic, the Mediterranean and then in the Philippines Campaign. He commanded the USS PARKS, also an escort, in 1945 and was present at the surrender of the Japanese garrison on Mili Atoll, where he served as atoll commander.
In June 1946 he was a founder of a Naval Reserve Surface Battalion in Elizabeth, NJ, and served as its executive officer until he was recalled to active duty during the Korean conflict in March 1951. He then served as operations officer of a destroyer squadron and as executive officer on the USS TIDEWATER.
After his release from active duty, he served variously as commander of a Naval Reserve Surface Battalion in Pittsburgh and as commanding officer of three Mobilization Teams, all in Philadelphia. Promoted to rear admiral, he served as the Commandant’s Representative for Reserve Affairs until he formed, and was first Commander of, Naval Reserve Readiness Command, Region FOUR, Philadelphia. This detailed responsibility for all Naval Reserve matters in Southern New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
Among other honors, he was awarded a European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with one star, an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with four stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the Meritorious Service Award Medal.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret J. Hicks of Dublin, Georgia, and a son, Paul C. Huelsenbeck Jr. He is survived by two daughters, Margaret H. Rich of Middletown, Conn., and Roseanna H. Phillips of Pensacola, Fla.; a sister, Doris Hoppe; a brother, Karl Huelsenbeck; four grandchildren; and long-time friend, E. Jane Russell.
Visitation is at the Kain-Murphy Home at 15 West End Avenue, Haddonfield from 5:30 to 7:30 on Tuesday June 13 and will be followed by a short service. The funeral service will be at 2 pm on June 14 at the US Naval Academy Chapel, Annapolis, MD, with internment to follow at the Academy cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, 875 Randolph Street, Suite 225, Arlington, VA 22203.
