Donald Quick, 89, of Medford, NJ passed away on Monday, October 20, 2003 at Medford Leas. Born in Brooklyn, he grew up in Glen Ridge, NJ then moved to Short Hills before moving to Medford. Donald graduated from Rutgers University later earning his CPA. While going to school he worked for the IRS and was later with Haskins and Sells. Donald was the President of American Steel and Pump and later held numerous executive positions at American Hoist and Derrick, MN and Stapling Machines, Rockaway, NJ. He was also on the Board of Directors of Bio-Data Corporation, Horsham, PA. Throughout his employment, he was a financial consultant. Donald was known for his beautiful voice, singing barbershop with the Dapper Dan’s, and also singing at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and Christ Church in Glen Ridge as well as Short Hills. He was an All-State football and track player and enjoyed watching Eagles football and traveling. Son of the late William and Rebecca Quick, he is survived by his wife Beatrice (nee Brady); one son, Donald M. Stephen J. Saluga, Jr.

Stephen J. Saluga, 79, of Medford went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 6, 2003 in Great Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Tuckerton. Born in York Run PA, he was a lifelong resident of Medford. Mr. Saluga retired from the US Army as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. Stephen was in the 10th Wave of Omaha Beach on D-Day on June 6, 1944 and passed away on the same date 59 years later. He was in the European Theatre traveling to France, Holland, and Germany. Some of his greatest military achievements include 2 Purple Hearts, and a Bronze Star Medal. After WWII he traveled around the world until his retirement in 1967. In 1968 he opened the Saluga’s Auto Body Shop in Southampton, which is still operated today by his 2 sons Salvatore and Thomas. Father of the late Stephen J. Saluga III killed in Vietnam in 1968, he is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law; Rosemary & John Kumpel of Tuckerton, NJ, Stephanie & Archie Kirk of Mt. Calvin G. Smith, 82, of Vincentown passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at home. Born in Mt. Holly, NJ, he was a lifelong resident of Vincentown. Calvin was a Veteran of the US Navy proudly serving his country during WWII. He served in the Atlantic, Pacific and Mediterranean Theatres as a Gunner on merchant ships and was recognized and decorated by the military for his many acts of bravery while serving his country. He was, as recent as 1999, awarded the State’s highest military medal, The Distinguished Service Medal. Mr. Smith was employed for 15 years in maintenance for Stoke’s Cannery in Vincentown. In 1984, he retired after 14 years with New Jersey Forestry Service at Lebanon State Forest. Calvin was a life member and Past Chief of Vincentown Fire Company. He was a District Warden and Fire Truck driver for 30 years with the New Jersey Forest Fire Services. She also had a career as a realtor in southern NJ. Mrs. Sullivan was noted for her extraordinary kindness towards others, and often volunteered substantial time to help ailing family and friends. She was fond of gardening and entertaining house guests; enjoyed traveling with her husband Jack; and, in later years, spent considerable time and effort in restoring the turn-of-the century Belchertown home that she grew up in. Albert W. Zelley, 87, of Marlton, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2003 at home. Born in Masonville, NJ, Albert resided in Tabernacle most of his life before moving to Marlton in 2001. Mr. Zelley was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII. He retired as Vice President of Johnson & Higgins, now Marsh & McLennon, J.H. Albert was a former member and officer of the Oaklyn Baptist Church, the Oaklyn School Board, secretary of the Oaklyn Building & Loan Association, the Engineers Club of Phila., & the Protestant Community Church of Medford Lakes. He was a volunteer for Virtua W. Jersey Hospital, Marlton. Husband of the late Betty Zelley; he is survived by his daughter, Gail A. Conover of Marlton; 2 grandchildren & their spouses, Earl R. & Natalie Mathiesen of Alameda, CA, & Tracey & P.J. O’ Connell of Rock Hall, MD; 2 great granddaughters, Kylie & Megan. The family will greet relatives & friends on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 from 6:30 to 7 PM at the Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main St., Medford (609) 654-2439. A Memorial service will be held at 7 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. She was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes R.C. Church, Medford. Carol was active with various foundations promoting breast cancer awareness. She is survived by her parents, Melvin & Elizabeth Eisenhower; her husband of 36 years, James B. Zuratt; 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Heidi Z. & Matthew McGowan of New York City, & Elizabeth A. & Kirk Preiser of Atlanta, GA; 2 brothers, Melvin & David Eisenhower; 1 sister, Janice Goad; 3 grandchildren, Brooke, Brett, & Breanna; several nieces & nephews. Relatives & friends may call on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 from 9-10 AM at the Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main St., Medford (609) 654-2439.
