ELLIOTT B. GILBERT, 69, of Monroe, formerly of East Brunswick, died June 23 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was a founder of Temple B'nai Shalom, East Brunswick, where he was a past president and longtime member of the board of trustees. Surviving are his wife, Diane Rifkin Gilbert; a son, Martin Gilbert of East Brunswick; two daughters, Sheila Sachs of East Brunswick and Nicole Gilbert of Hoboken; and six grandchildren. GEORGE F. AHREND, 73, of Spotswood died June 25 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. He retired in 1986 as a captain in the Spotswood Police Department after 25 years of service. A skilled woodcarver, he designed and carved the borough seal for Spotswood. Surviving are his wife, Elsie T. Torvund Ahrend; two daughters, Elsie E. Ahrend of Princeton and Ellen E. Meehan of Newton; two sons, George Ahrend of Hopewell, Va., and Greg Ahrend of Miami; a sister, Melba Coopey of Venice, Fla., seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Surviving are a son, Leonid Jefimowicz of Central Jersey; three daughters and sons-in-law, Alice Applegate and Roland of Monroe, Nina and Pat Albanese of Florida, and Helena and John Lanzi of Somerset County; a sister, Shura Talazaskoza of the Czech Republic; and seven grandchildren. SANTO A. BRULLO, 61, of Middletown, died June 8 at home after a battle with cancer. Born in Francofonte, Sicily, Italy, he lived in Manhattan and Staten Island, N.Y., prior to moving to Middletown in 1984. He was a graphic artist and designer for various companies in Manhattan. He was in the graphic arts industry for over 45 years. He was a seaman in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1958. He was predeceased by his first wife of 25 years, Kathy Esposito, in 1985. Hs is survived by his wife of 14 years, Ronni Brooks-Brullo of Middletown; three sons, Michael Brullo of Parlin, Santo Brullo Jr. of East Brunswick, and Robert Brooks-Brullo of Middletown; one daughter, Maria Maraday of Englishtown; and seven grandchildren. Services were under the direction of John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A second funeral with full military honors and interment was at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

HENRY BUSCH, 89, of the Rossmoor adult community, Monroe, died July 2 at home. He was an attorney in New Brunswick for 54 years and in North Brunswick for 11 years. He practiced law with his late brother, Lewis D. Busch, founder of Busch and Busch, North Brunswick, and with his two sons, Mark and Leonard Busch, and his three nephews, Malcolm, Ronald and Bertram Busch. His wife, Kathleen Miller Busch, died in 1979. His companion, Lillian Neuman Berman, died in June. Surviving are two sons, Mark of North Brunswick and Leonard of South Brunswick; a sister, Sarah Busch Topkins of Waltham, Mass.; five grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
