Mrs. Carlisle, 85, Native of Borough
Mrs. Martha Haver Carlisle, 85, a native of the borough, died yesterday
at Berkeley Hall Nursing Home, Berkeley Heights, where she had been a
patient five years.
Mrs. Carlisle's first husband was Emory Haver, who died in 2933(sic-most
probably 1933). Her second husband, John P. Carlisle, died in 1944.
A daughter of the late Robert and Sarah McConaughy Waldron, Mrs.
Carlisle had resided in the Somerville area from birth until becoming
ill. Her last place of residence was on Altamont place. She was a
member of the First Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Robert W. Haver of Westfield and Wilson E. Haver
of Plainfield; two grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Marie Voorhees of
the borough.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Sutphen Funeral Home,
the Rev. Archibald N. Smith, former pastor of the First Methodist
Church, officiating. Interment will be in New Cemetery.

Funeral Services Held For Belle Mead Man
BELLE MEAD - Services were held Monday in Sacred Heart Church, Newark
for Steve Pastrick of Route 206, who died last Wednesday in the Veterans
Administration Hospital, Newark. Interment was in Gate of Heaven
Cemetery, Hanover.
Mr. Pastrick lived in Perth Amboy before coming to this place several
years ago. He was employed at the Army General Depot, Belle Mead.
Mr. Pastrick is survived by his wife.

Raritan Girl, 24, Dies in Hospital
RARITAN - Miss Dorothy Zarecki, 24, of 75 First avenue, died Monday
night at Somerset Hospital, where she had been a patient since August 27
when she underwent surgery.
A week ago Tuesday a vain effort to save Miss Zarecki's life was made
when State Police rushed a rare type of blood needed for a transfusion
from Princeton and Muhlenberg hospitals.
Miss Zarecki is survived by her mother, Mrs. Anna Zarecki; four
brothers, Walter, Stephen and Edward Zarecki and Michael Petryczanko,
and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Gattone, Mrs. Helen Orlando, Mrs. Mildred
Reynolds and Mrs. Agnes Sanborn, all of this place.
Services will be held today at 9 a.m. at the Hannon Funeral Home and at
9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Manville. Interment will be in St.
Bernard's Cemetery.

John Salzani, 84, Dies in Raritan
RARITAN - John Salzani, 84, of 20 Second avenue, retired mail clerk at
the borough Post Office, died Saturday at Somerset Hospital after a
brief illness.
Mr. Salzani was a native of Italy. He came to this country 55 years ago
and had been a resident of Raritan 47 years. His wife, Josephine
Salzani, died last year.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Pinto and Miss Irma Salzani,
both of this place; two grandchildren, and a brother in Italy.
Services were held Tuesday in the Bongiovi Funeral Home and St. Ann's
Church, where a mass of requiem was celebrated by the Rev. Charles La
Cavera, pastor. Interment was in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Mrs. Felice Salvatore, Ill for Three Months
BOUND BROOK - Mrs. Giovanna Salvatore, 67, of 410 Park place, widow of
Felice Salvatore, died Sunday night at her home after an illness of
three months.
Mrs. Salvatore had been a resident of the borough 26 years and was a
member of the Risveglio Society.
Surviving are two sons, Frank and Daniel Salvatore; a daughter, Mrs.
Daniel Sarlo, and two grandchildren,, all of the borough.
Services were held yesterday at the Conroy Funeral Home and St. Joseph's
Church, where a mass of requiem was celebrated. Interment was in St.
Joseph's Cemetery, Bridgewater Township.

Mrs. Brennan Dies Of Heart Ailment, Was Court Clerk
Mother of Librarian
Widow of Policeman;
Ill Several Months
Mrs. Irla A. Brennan, 75, of West End avenue, Bridgewater Township
violations and court clerk and mother of Miss Kathryn Brennan,
children's librarian at the Somerville Public Library, died Sunday at
her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Brennan was the wife of Daniel T. Brennan, a member of the New York
City police force who died in 1949 from an illness brought on by
injuries received in the line of duty.
For the past several months Mrs. brennan had been on sick leave from her
duties as violations and court clerk as the result of a heart ailment
which had hospitalized her early this Summer. She had been recovering
at home.
Registered Nurse
A native of Chatham, N.Y., Mrs. Brennan was a registered nurse. She was
a graduate of Bellevue Hospital, New York City. She and her husband
moved to Bridgewater in 1925 although Mr. Brennan continued as a member
of the New York police force until 1940.
Mrs. Brennan was named Bridgewater violations clerk in 1949 and became
court clerk the following year.
Miss Brennan is her mother's only survivor.
Services were held Tuesday at the Maxwell Funeral Home, Dr. David R.
Evans, pastor of the First Reformed Church, officiating. Interment was
in New Cemetery.

Injuries in Fall Fatal To Retired Farmer, 78
FAR HILLS - Charles D'Epagnier, 78, of Peapack road died Monday in All
Souls Hospital, Morristown, from injuries suffered in a fall at his home
last week.
A native of New York, Mr. D'Epagnier was a retired farmer and had been
employed for a number of years on the Schley estate. He was sexton of
St. Elizabeth's Church here.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Delia Carey D'Epagnier; two sons, Charles
D'Epagnier Jr., at home and John D'Epagnier of Silver Springs, Md.; a
daughter, Mrs. Thomas Gill of this place and 11 grandchildren.
Services were held yesterday at the Bailey Funeral Home,
Peapack-Gladstone, and in St. Elizabeth's Church, where a requiem high
mass was celebrated. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking
Ridge.

William A. Rickborn, Farmer in Franklin
FRANKLIN - William A. Rickborn, 62, of Cedar Grove road, a farmer, died
unexpectedly Saturday at his home.
Mr. Rickborn was born in Tappan, N.Y., and had been a resident of this
township 25 years. He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving is a brother, Edward Rickborn of Cedar Grove road.
Services were held yesterday at the Taggart-Chamberlain Funeral Home,
Bound Brook, the Rev. Daniel U. Smith, pastor of the South Bound Brook
Reformed Church officiating. Interment was in the Tappan Reformed
Church Cemetery.

W.J. Mansfield, Headed J-M Union
RARITAN - William J. Mansfield, 49, of 111 First avenue, former
president of Federal Labor Union 21626, AFofL, at the Manville plant of
Johns-Manville Corporation, died Sunday in Somerset Hospital after a
long illness.
Mr. Mansfield was a lifelong resident of this place and had been
employed at Johns-Manville as a section man in the tile plant. He was a
member of Somerset Aerie, Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen Mansfield; a daughter, Mrs. Loretta
Basilone of this place; two grandchildren; two brothers, Police Sergeant
James Mansfield of Plainfield and Thomas Mansfield of Colorado, and a
sister, Sister Loretta of Holy Ghost Hospital, Cambridge, Mass.
Services were held yesterday at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville, and
St. Bernard's Church, where a mass of requiem was celebrated. Interment
was in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Walter Zimny, 52, Served on Council
MANVILLE - Walter Zimny, 52, a member of the Borough Council from 1945
to 1947, died Sunday in Muhlenberg Hospital, Plainfield, after a brief
illness.
Mr. Zimny moved four months ago from this borough to Franklin Township,
where he had operated a package liquor and grocery store for the past
six years. Before that he had been employed 25 years at the local plant
of Johns-Manville Corporation.
Mr. Zimny was a member of the local Democratic Club, the Manville Rod
and Gun Club and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mildred Zimny; his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Michael Zimny of this place; a brother, Joseph Zimny, and two
sisters, Miss Carrie Zimny and Mrs. Nellie Zydallis, all of this place.
Services will be held today at 8:30 a.m. at the Fucillo-Maliszewski
Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be in
Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Mrs. John Grodzki Dies At Somerset Hospital
Mrs. Mary Grodzki, 56, of Route 206, South Somerville, died yesterday
morning in Somerset Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of
John Grodzki.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Grodzki is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Helen
Czajkowski of South Somerville; a grandson and a brother, John Waicek in
Poland.
Services will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in the Cusick Funeral Home
and at 9 a.m. in Christ the King Church, Manville where a mass of
requiem will be celebrated by the Rev. Eugene Kelly, pastor. Interment
will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Weston.

Mrs. Newton Brown, 88, Dies on Long Island
BASKING RIDGE - Mrs. Elizabeth Brown, 88, a native of this place and a
resident until 40 years ago, died Monday at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Ralph Dobocq of Long Island, after a long illness. She was the wife
of Newton E. Brown, who died in 1912.
Besides Mrs. Dobocq, Mrs. Brown is survived by a son, John N. Brown of
Long Island; two other daughters, Mrs. Chancellor Mackeown of New York
and Mrs. H.C. Balke of Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren; two great
grandchildren, and two sisters , Mrs. M.L. Connolly and Miss Nettie
Allen, both of this place.
Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church, the
Rev. William Felmeth, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in
Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Clinton Dutcher Dies in Nursing Home
BOUND BROOK - Mrs. Florence Van Doren Dutcher of 329 Hamilton street
died Monday at the Hamilton Nursing Home, New Brunswick. She was the
widow of Clinton Dutcher.
Mrs. Dutcher was a member of the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church and its
women's organizations.
Surviving are two grandchildren, Allen Dutcher of Fort Meade, Md., and
Miss Carol Dutcher of this place; a sister, Miss Estelle Van Doren of
this place, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews.
Services were held yesterday at the Taggart-Chamberlain Funeral Home,
the Rev. Carlton Allen, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment was in Bound Brook Cemetery.

Mrs. Stewart Sutton, 42, Bernardsville Resident
BERNARDSVILLE - Mrs. Barbara Schaefer Sutton, 42, wife of Stewart K.
Sutton of Essex avenue, died Thursday in Community Medical Center,
Boonton, after a long illness. Mrs. Sutton had lived here since 1931.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Sutton is survived by three children, Barbara
Anne, Stewart and Joseph Sutton, all at home; her mother, Mrs. Margaret
Schaefer of Erwinna, Pa., two brothers, Peter Schafer(sic) of Erwinna
and Frank Schaefer of Little York, Pa., and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret
Palmieri of Union City and Mrs. Ann Fehrman of Milford.
Services were held Sunday at the Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home here, the
Rev. Frederick E. Jenkins, pastor of Bernardsville Methodist Church,
officiating. Interment was in Hilltop Cemetery, Mendham.

Warren Farmer Fatally Stricken
BRIDGEWATER - Israel Meltzer, 69, of Mount Bethel road, Warrenville,
suffered a fatal heart attack about 7:30 a.m. yesterday and died in his
car in the lane of the Abram V.N. Powelson farm, Route 206, north of
Green Knoll.
Mr. Meltzer, a catle(sic) dealer, had driven to the Powelson place to
talk with the farmer about a matter of business. He had parked his car
and was talking with men at the barn when he suddenly complained of
feeling ill. Mr. Powelson phoned immediately for the Somerville Rescue
Squad.
The Warren Township man expired before the squad and State Trooper Gino
Conti reached the farm. County Physician D.T. Russo of Raritan said the
death was caused by heart disease.
Mr. Meltzer was a native of Poland, coming to the United States about
1906.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rose Meltzer, and a daughter, Mrs.
Gertrude Ansel of Plainfield.
The body was removed to the Higgins Funeral Home in Plainfield.
