Charles L.S. Sherman
Mr. Sherman, 85, of Red Bank died Jan. 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Auerbach, Germany, he resided in Mount Holly prior to moving to Red Bank in 1989. He was a retired employee in the security department at General Electric, Philadelphia. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed time with his family, and the outdoors. He is survived by his sons, Robert Stewart Sherman of Metuchen, and Charles Arthur Sherman of Mount Holly; and his sister, Jan Seidman of New York City. Arrangements were by John E. Gladys M. Raniere
Mrs. Raniere, 57, of Rumson died Jan. 24 at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, she was a lifelong resident of the area. She was secretary of the billing department for the Borough of Rumson. Prior to that, she was employed at Aumack Oil Delivery Service. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rumson. She was the ex-captain, treasurer and trustee of the Rumson First Aid Squad, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rumson Fire Department. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Joseph P. Raniere of Rumson; her brother, Al Monaco of California; two sisters, Joyce Stalfa of California, and Carolyn Monaco of Allenhurst; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at First Presbyterian Church of Rumson. Interment

Evelynne Bialek Bilinkas
Mrs. Bilinkas, 81, of Rumson died Jan. 23 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, she resided in East Orange and Irvington before moving to Rumson in 1967. Mrs. Bilinkas was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Charles A. Bilinkas, in 1997; two brothers, Milton and Edward Bialek; and a sister, Henrietta Kilpatrick. Nancy Schuring Fries
Mrs. Fries, 78, of Matawan died Jan. 25 at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel. Born in Glen Rock, she resided in Matawan the past 50 years. Mrs. Fries was a seamstress and the founder of the home-based business Taylor Made Boat Curtains. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, J. Donald Fries, in 2002; and a brother, William. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Daren and Jim Hutchinson of Rumson, Patti Fries and Eric Sandor of Tarboro, N.C., Carol and Frank Dugan of Manasquan, and Nancy Dowd of Island Heights; a son, Donald A. Fries of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen; and nine grandchildren. Arrangements were by Bedle Funeral Home, Matawan.
Daniel Gordaychik Sr.
Mr. Gordaychik, 85, of the River Plaza section of Middletown, died Jan. 27 at the Hospice Center of Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was a lifelong resident of River Plaza. He was a master craftsman employed at a local lumber mill until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Gordaychik served with the U.S. Coast Guard as a carpenter’s mate first class during World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1945. He was honored with the American Theater Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Medal, and the Good Conduct Ribbon Commendation for Performance of Duty. He attended St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a member of the River Plaza Hose Company No. 1, Middletown Township Fire Department, for more than 60 years. He enjoyed time with his family, and farming. Mr. Gordaychik is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen A. Gordaychik; two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Karen Bartolett Gordaychik Jr., and Paul and Sara Gordaychik, all of Freehold; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and George J. Georgas of Parlin; a sister, Mary Hepburn of Keyport; and two grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial

Margaret "Peggy" Helen O’Donnell
Mrs. O’Donnell of Shadow Lake Village, Red Bank, died Feb. 21 at Rahway Hospital. Born in Bayonne, she resided in Matawan for many years before moving to Shadow Lake Village 20 years ago. She was a telephone operator at Verizon, formerly AT&T and NJ Bell, for 32 years, retiring in 1979. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, and a former communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Monmouth County Symphony Auxiliary, and Shadow Lake Socializers and Democratic Club. Mrs. O’Donnell is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Myra and Edward Francy of Middletown; one nephew and one niece; and one grandniece. A Mass of Christian Burial

Gertrude E. DeCresce
Mrs. DeCresce, 85, of Rumson died Feb. 26 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, she resided there prior to moving to Rumson 37 years ago. She was a physical education teacher at Raritan High School before her retirement. She was a member of the New Jersey Education Association and a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She enjoyed traveling worldwide. Mrs. DeCresce was predeceased by two sisters, Esther Keenan, in 1996, and Ann Dolan in 1974. She is survived by her husband, Joseph P. DeCresce; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Joseph DeCresce of Hartford, Conn., and Dr. Robert and Mary DeCresce of Chicago; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Frank Pingitore of Little Silver; and four grandchildren. Anna M. Manzi Perchin
Mrs. Perchin, 90, of West Long Branch died Feb. 29 at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, she was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed time with her family, knitting and crocheting. Mrs. Perchin was predeceased by her husband, George R. Perchin, in 1996; her brothers, Phillip, Louis, John, Frank and Joseph Manzi; and her sisters, Carmella Melone, Grace Scialla and Rose Brockreide. She is survived by five daughters and three sons-in-law, Joan and Frank Campanella of Oceanport, Carol and Ralph D’Antonio of Atlantic Highlands, and Angela and William Dempster, Shirley Yourie, and JoAnne Anechiarico, all of West Long Branch; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Anthony T. Spaloss
Mr. Spaloss, 73, of Hazlet died Feb. 26 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Hoboken, he resided there prior to moving to Hazlet 45 years ago. He was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, Hazlet, for 23 years, retiring at age 63. He served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. He was a 25-year member of the Hazlet First Aid Squad, and a member of the Marine Corps League. He is survived by his wife, Felicia C. Spagnoli Spaloss; two daughters, Therese A. Giunta of Tinton Falls and Mary E. Winter of Brick; a son, Anthony Spaloss Jr. of Neptune; and two grandchildren. Benjamin Smith
Mr. Smith, 90, of Red Bank died Feb. 28 in Red Bank. He was a longtime resident of Hawaii before moving to Red Bank in 1997. He was a riveter at Chevron, Oahu, Hawaii, before his retirement. Mr. Smith was predeceased by his wife, Charlotte Lucey Smith, and a sister, Vivian Smith. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Interment

Alfonso Cetrulo
Mr. Cetrulo, 96, of Tinton Falls died Feb. 29 at Liberty Royal Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Tinton Falls. Born in Newark, he resided there and in Toms River before moving to Tinton Falls in 2000. He was a maintenance employee at Allied Chemical, Morristown, for 15 years, retiring in 1972. He was predeceased by his first wife, Angela, in 1952; second wife, Ruth, in 2001; and a son, Michael, in 2000. He is survived by two sons, Al Cetrulo of Howell and Jerry Cetrulo of Toms River; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Interment
