MAGNE LOHNE, 82, of North Brunswick died Feb. 22 at St. Peter’s Medical Center, New Brunswick. Born in Stanford, Conn., he grew up in Norway and lived in Woodbridge prior to moving to North Brunswick in 1987. He was a carpenter with Local No. 715, Elizabeth, and helped build three churches in Middlesex and Union counties, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Crossroads Assembly of God Church, Englishtown. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He ministered at the Bowery Missionary, New York City, for more than 35 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Bertha Lohne, in 1987. He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Andrea and Zane Gray of North Brunswick, Catherine and the Rev. Frank Jacobs of Old Bridge, and Emily Lohne of North Brunswick; his brother and sister, Henry Lohne and Esther Lohne, both of Norway; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service was offered by the Rev. Jacobs at the Crossroads Assembly of God Church, Englishtown. Interment
was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Iselin.
JOHN R. HAMMOND SR., 78, of Old Bridge died Feb. 22 at home. Surviving are his wife, Hennie Pedalino Hammond; a son, John R. Jr. of Union; five daughters, Brenda Cantor of West Windsor, Sharon Macre of Freehold, Gail Drysdale of Helmetta, Valerie Nugent of Spotswood and Cindy Markus of East Windsor; three sisters, Grace Danchesi of North Bergen and Violet Tomasetti and Florie Monico, both of Middletown; and seven grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment
was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, South Brunswick.
ESTELLE "SALLY" KULPA NAUGHTON, 86, of Sayreville died Feb. 19 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, John Naughton, died in 1985. Surviving are her sister, Frances Paluch of Sayreville, and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment
was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
WILHELMINA POPP DALY, 93, of Sayreville died Feb. 21 in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas E. Daly. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Michel; two grandchildren, Jill Riley and Peter Michel; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held at First Presbyterian Church of Sayreville. Interment
was private.
JOHN SANZONE, 77, of Old Bridge died Feb. 21 at home. Surviving are his wife, Frances Pacifico Sanzone; two sons, John Sanzone and Michael Sanzone, both of Old Bridge; a daughter, Diane Nordyk, also of Old Bridge; six brothers, Vincent Sanzone of Brick, Anthony Sanzone of Cedar Grove, Nicholas Sanzone of Scotch Plains, Paul Sanzone of Freehold and Gerald Sanzone of California; two sisters, Angie Molinaro of West Orange and Madalin Zirrillo of the Toms River section of Dover; and three grandchildren. DOMINICK PAVONE SR., 84, of the Morgan section of Sayreville died Feb. 22 at home. His wife, Emma DeBenedetto Pavone, died in December. Surviving are a son, Dominick Pavone Jr. of Morgan; a daughter, Johanna Librizzi of Lincoln Park; a sister, Rose Gelato of the Toms River section of Dover; and four grandchildren. RAYMOND E. SYSLO, 69, of Sayreville died Feb. 24 at home. Surviving are his wife, Doris Nagy Syslo; three sons, Raymond A. of South Amboy, John E. of the Fords section of Woodbridge and Robert S. of Sayreville; two brothers, Joseph Syslo and Martin Syslo, both of Sayreville; two sisters, Roseann McGinty of South Carolina and Marie Syslo of San Diego, Calif.; and three grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Church, Sayreville. Cremation was private.
RITA B. CALLAHAN CHAPMAN, 87, of East Brunswick died Feb. 21 at home. Her husband, Alfred Charles Chapman, died in 1978. Surviving are two daughters, Victoria Catananzi, with whom she lived, and Barbara Dwyer of South Carolina; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. MARY KATHRYN LINDSAY, 67, of Holmdel died Feb. 10 in Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was a librarian at the Colts Neck Public Library for four years. Prior to that, she worked for Old Bridge and East Brunswick public schools as a librarian for 26 years. Surviving are her husband, Thomas; a son, Thomas Lindsay of Denville; a daughter, Kathryn Lindsay of Waltham, Mass.; a sister, Sandra Kerr Shafer of Indiana, Pa.; and four grandchildren. A memorial service was held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Holmdel. JOHN R. MEYER, 83, of South Amboy died Feb. 21 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. He was predeceased by his wife, Stella Przybylska Meyer. Surviving are three sons, John R. Jr. of Spotswood, Paul of the Franklin Park section of Franklin and Raymond of Hamilton; and a granddaughter. Services were held at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover.
