AUGUST J. SCHLOTTFELD, 86, of Sayreville died Dec. 24 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Sayreville, he was a lifelong resident of the borough. Mr. Schlottfeld was an operator at Kimberly Clark, Spotswood, for more than 37 years before his retirement in 1980. He was a charter and exempt member of the Sayreville First Aid Squad. He was predeceased by five brothers, Charles, Bernard, Anthony, Alan and Richard Schlottfeld. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Catherine (nee Jurkiewicz); two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Nerissa Schlottfeld of Lawrenceville, and John and Doreen Schlottfeld of Sayreville; and one grandson. The funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church, Sayreville, followed by burial at New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin.
HELEN T. CAMPANALE, 77, of Spotswood died Dec. 24 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born and raised in Perth Amboy, she moved to Spotswood three years ago. Mrs. Campanale worked in the medical records department of Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy Division, for 15 years before retiring in 1994. She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Campanale of Monroe and Dean Campanale of Old Bridge; a daughter, Deborah Gomes of Toms River; two sisters, Claire DeRasmi of Perth Amboy and Dorothy Balas of Fords; and seven grandchildren. Services were private.
THOMAS JUNG LEE, 9, of East Brunswick died Dec. 24 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Thomas was born in New York City. He was a student in the second grade at Lawrence Brook Elementary School, East Brunswick. Thomas is survived by his parents, Hyung Moo Lee and Young Euh Lee; a brother, Richard; and his grandmother, Bong Eup Lee of New York City. Burial was at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
EDWARD KAYES, 82, of Sayreville died Dec. 27 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Phoenix, he had lived in East Brunswick for many years before moving to Sayreville. Mr. Kayes was self-employed and was the former owner of Kayes Mason Contractors. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Madeline (nee Liebeck); two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Lisa Kayes of Ohio, and Thomas and Patricia Kayes of East Brunswick; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Bruce Utne of Minnesota; and five grandchildren. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.
GAETANA ROSE SALAMANDO PARIS, 56, of Matawan died Dec. 27 at home. Surviving are her husband of 21 years, Michael Paris; two sons, William and Scott Burke; and her mother Josephine Salamando. A Mass was offered at St. Clement’s Church, Matawan. Interment
will be in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
JOSEPHINE TECZA KOWALSKI, 88, of Spotswood died Dec. 27 at her son’s home. Her husband, Joseph, died in 1959. Surviving are a son Robert J. of Spotswood; a daughter, Stephanie Venech of Largo, Fla.; two brothers, Thaddeus Tecza of Passaic and Henry Tecza of Garfield; two sisters, Stasia Sadlowski of Passaic and Jean Wojtkowski of Bayonne; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment
was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hackensack.
BOCK JOON KEEM, 67, of East Brunswick died Dec. 29 at home. She was predeceased by her husband, Chang Oak. Surviving are a son, Kil Won Kang of East Brunswick; a daughter, Young Soon of Korea; and two sisters, Bock In and Bock Hung, both of Korea. Interment
was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
MARGARET MARY RAINE PRESCOTT, 73, of Monroe died Dec. 27 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Charles E. Prescott; a daughter, Judy Schlueter of Old Bridge; a son, Charles H. of Monroe; four grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Raine and a sister, Helen Russell, both of Fla. A Mass was offered at St. Lawrence Church, Lawrence Harbor. Interment
was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
WALTER LEONARD GARRABRANT, 42, of the Morgan section of Sayreville, died Dec. 2 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his father, William Dennis Garrabrant of Fords; three sisters, Mary M. Brower of Morgan, Genevieve Garrabrant of California, and Sylvia S. Pisarro of Mt. Laurel; three brothers, John A. French Sr. of Highland Park, William D. Garrabrant of Illinois, and William Joseph Turiello of Sayreville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a great-nephew. Interment
was in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.
FRANK J. IPPOLITO, 75, of East Brunswick, died Dec. 27 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in New York City, he had been a resident of East Brunswick for 38 years. Mr. Ippolito was formerly employed by E.J. Korvett’s and then retired from Personal Products. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was predeceased by two brothers, Lucian and Joseph. Mr. Ippolito is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (nee Massaro); a son and daughter-in-law, Frank Jr. and Anne of Hillsborough; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Gerard Skalka of Medford, and Madeline and James Gazzale of Metuchen; a brother, Adam of West Islip, Long Island, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick.
