JOHN J. LaFALCE, 76, of Hazlet died Nov. 1 at home. Born in Newark, he resided in Hazlet the past 43 years. He was a truck driver for Branch Motors, Newark, for 43 years, retiring in 1985. He was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, attaining the rank of seaman first class. He was a member of Local 478 Teamsters, Newark, and the Teamsters Retirement Club, Hazlet. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, MaryAnn Leonard LaFalce of Hazlet; four sons, John J. LaFalce Jr. of Howell, William J. LaFalce of Little Egg Harbor, Jamie J. LaFalce of Carteret, and Robert J. LaFalce of Hazlet; two daughters, Johna M. Karpinski of Tinton Falls and Nicole Knochel of Atlantic Highlands; his brother, Harry LaFalce of Jacksonville, Fla.; and eight grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
MARIAN S. BROMELL, 83, of Howell Township died Nov. 2 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Neptune, she resided in Belmar and Freehold for 54 years before moving to Howell in 1991. She was a retired seamstress with the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Freehold. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Bromell, in 1984. She is survived by four sons, Robert Bromell of California, Douglas Bromell of Freehold Township, Lawrence Bromell of Jackson, and Harold Bromell Jr. of California; three daughters, Carol Salazar of Georgia, Sheree Robinson of Howell Township, and Cindee Weidmann of Bloomfield; two sisters, Jeanette Evans of Tennessee, and Doris White of Florida; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
THOMAS P. McCULLOUGH SR., 72, of Bayville died Nov. 2 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Hasbrouck Heights, he resided in Freehold 43 years prior to moving to Bayville one year ago. He was an electronics technician at Fort Monmouth from 1960 until 1994. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a former communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, where he coached the C.Y.O. basketball league. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 54, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4374, both Freehold. His coached Freehold Little League. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Dixon McCullough of Bayville; two sons, Thomas P. McCullough Jr. of Bayville, and Robert McCullough of Marshall’s Creek, Pa.; three daughters, Deborah Berroth of New Braunfells, Texas; Carolyn McCullough of Lexington Park, Md.; and Elizabeth Warrington of Franklinville; a brother, Richard McCullough of Little Egg Harbor; four sisters, Grace McCullough of Freehold, Margaret Mundorf of Hampstead, N.C.; Rosemary Maxcy of Hazlet; and Joan Berner of Kuna, Idaho; and 15 grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church.
LOIS LOUISE INGRAM, 82, of Freehold died Oct. 23 at home. Born in Hancock County, Ga., she was a resident of Freehold for the past 48 years. She was a nurse’s aide at Marlboro State Hospital, Marlboro, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Freehold where she was a church mother, missionary, and a member of the choir, sewing circle, nurse’s unit and prayer band. She was predeceased by a son, Sylvester, in 1991; and a daughter, Hattie C., in 1962; two brothers, Hayward Ficklin and Jack Long; and a sister, Ola Mae Andrews. She is survived by her husband, George S.; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Lenzie and Ora of Freehold, Cleveland and Sharon of Riverdale, Ga., George Jr. of Asbury Park, Ronnie and Wendy of Freehold, and Kenneth of Asbury Park; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Annie M. "Peggy" and James Savage of Lakewood, Regina and Calvin Fenn of Manchester, Loistine Ingram of Freehold, Talaya Ingram of Asbury Park, and Louise Holley of Jackson; two brothers, Cleo Long and M.L. Long, and a sister, Annie Swain, all of Augusta, Ga.; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held at the Second Baptist Church, followed by interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. NORMA E. SONN, 64, of Manalapan died at home after struggling with emphysema for many years. Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Elizabeth before moving to Manalapan 37 years ago. Mrs. Sonn was a cafeteria worker for the Manalapan-Englishtown School District. Mrs. Sonn is survived by her husband, John; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Rose of Jackson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Rick England of Jackson, and Laura and David Brodack of Marlton; one sister, Edith Ley of Old Tappan; and four grandchildren. Interment
was held at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.
ALYCE SCHANERMAN, 97, of Delray Beach, Fla., died Oct. 24 in Florida. Born in Revere Beach, Mass., she had lived in Newark and West Orange before retiring to Florida. Mrs. Schanerman was predeceased by her husband, Sam; and a grandson, Scott Zimmerman. She is survived by two daughters, Torchy Garry of Freehold and Ina Zimmerman of Delray Beach; a sister-in-law, Bessie Shain of Livingston; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held in Florida.
DONNA MARIE ALBANESE, 72, of Freehold died Oct. 25 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Tijuana, Mexico, she had lived in Perth Amboy before moving to Freehold 33 years ago. Mrs. Albanese is survived by two daughters, Donna Marie Fernandez of Howell and Rose Chaparro of Dunellen; three granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. The funeral liturgy was offered at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, followed by interment in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
SUSAN SAMARA, 55, of Farmingdale, died Oct. 25 at home. Born in Morristown and raised in Boonton, she had been a resident of Farmingdale since 1999. She worked in the accounts payable department of GI Apparel, Howell, for the past four years. She is survived by a brother, Daniel Kostka of Arizona; a sister, Carol Rodenbaugh of Manchester Township; her companion, Jeffrey L. Miller of Farmingdale; three nephews and three nieces.
EVELYN R. ABRAMS, 83, of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, died Oct. 27 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in North Dakota, she resided in Belmar prior to moving to Cliffwood 47 years ago. She was a retired self-employed seamstress. She was a member of and Sunday school teacher at Matawan United Methodist Church, Aberdeen. She was a member of the Eastern Star of New Jersey, North Arlington. She was predeceased by her son, Harry Abrams Jr. in 1974. She is survived by her husband, Harry Abrams Sr. of Cliffwood; three daughters, Karen Lubeck of Arizona, Barbara Ann Zara of Jackson, and Mary Lynn Kazulen of Freehold; her brother Donald Rohde of North Dakota; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. BORIS SHIBANOFF, 91, of Lakehurst, died Oct. 27 at Community Medical Center, Dover Township. Born in New York City, he had lived in Middlesex, Freehold, Plainfield and North Plainfield before moving to Lakehurst. Mr. Shibanoff was a machinist for Mack Trucks, Plainfield and New Brunswick, for 21 years before his retirement. He was a member and treasurer of Middlesex Fire Department, Lincoln Hose; a charter member of Elks Lodge No. 2301; and a member of the Woodmen of America. He was predeceased by two brothers, Andrew Schribanoff in 1989 and Alex Schribanoff in 1995; and a sister, Kay Schibanoff in 2000. Mr. Shibanoff is survived by his wife, Ethel (née Wilson); a brother, Michael Schibanoff of Del Mar, Calif.; and several nephews and nieces. Interment
was at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.
