MAJOR WEAVER, 85, of Howell died Oct. 27 at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Born in Bullock County, Ala., he had lived in Freehold before moving to Howell 33 years ago. Mr. Weaver was a construction laborer before his retirement. He was a former member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Freehold. He was predeceased by his wife, Ollie Mae Holloman Weaver, in 2000. Mr. Weaver is survived by a son, Benjamin Sr. of Cream Ridge; a daughter, Amanda Goodson of Alabama; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, followed by interment at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
ALBERT JOHN KILLIMETT, 72, of Freehold died Oct. 29 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Freehold for the past 14 years. Mr. Killimett was a boiler room engineer for Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth. He is survived by his fiancé, Sonia Perez of Freehold, with whom he lived; a son, Albert of South Amboy; a daughter, Maureen Killimett of Linden; a sister, Madelaine Shiday of Malcom; and two grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was held at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, followed by interment in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
JEAN RUBIN, 88, of Manalapan died Oct. 30 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Agawam, Mass., before moving to Manalapan 25 years ago. Mrs. Rubin was a homemaker. She was a member of Deborah Hospital Association and B’nai B’rith. Mrs. Rubin was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 1990. She is survived by a son, Harvey of Freeport, Long Island, N.Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Harvey Bilker of Kendall Park; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The funeral service was officiated by Rabbi Ira Rothstein, followed by interment at Beth El Cemetery, Paramus.
PHILIP D. POOLE, 48, of Long Branch, died Aug. 29 at home. Born in Long Branch, he resided there most of his life. He was a merchant seaman for more than 20 years. He was an active firefighter for the West End Engine Company, Long Branch, and a member of The Seamens Union. He was predeceased by a brother, Peter Poole. He is survived by his parents, Jane and Frank Poole of Atlantis, Fla.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, F. Mark and Linda Poole of Boynton Beach, Fla., M. Craig and Cindy Poole of Freehold, and Vincent Poole of Lake Worth, Fla.; three nephews and one niece. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Interment
was at Mount Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch.
FRANCES D. SUTTERLIN, 82, of Howell, died Sept. 13 in Meridian Nursing and Rehab, Brick. Mrs. Sutterlin was born in New Jersey and was a lifelong resident of Howell. She was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Farmingdale. Her husband, Albert H. Sutterlin Sr., died in 1981 and a son-in-law, Gabriel Bogdonoff, died in July. Surviving are a son, Albert H. Sutterlin Jr. of Tunkhannock, Pa.; three daughters, Meryl Bogdonoff of Howell, Linda Cottrell of Browns Mills, and Janice Jensen of Howell; a sister, Joan Dunn of Brick Township; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
PATRICK DeSTEFANO, 95, of Spotswood, died Sept. 18 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He founded A and P DeStefano Real Estate and Insurance Co., Spotswood. The first director of the Spotswood Office on Aging, he also served as a member of the Spotswood Borough Council. Surviving are his wife, Mary Critelli DeStefano; three sons, Anthony of Barnegat and Daniel and Patrick Jr., both of Spotswood; five daughters, Ann Byrne of Pennsylvania, Roberta Dittmyre and Dolores Pope, both of Spotswood, Mary Ann Strehl of Lebanon, Pa., and Patricia Sanchez of Freehold; two sisters, Theresa Staleen of Racine, Wis., and Irene Venutolo of Spotswood; 26 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment
was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood; the Spotswood First Aid Squad; or St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick.
HOWARD McILVAINE III, 55, of Pownal, Maine, died Sept. 2 at home. Born in Philadelphia, he had lived in Long Beach Island, Manahawkin and Forked River before moving to Maine for years ago. Mr. McIlvaine was an engineer for Atlantic Electric in Pleasantville before starting his own consulting company, He was a member of the Pownal First Responders Rescue Service. Mr. McIlvaine is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons, Howard IV of Freehold and David of West Creek; a brother, Neal of Brownfield, Maine; and two grandsons. Interment
was private.
HENRY TODARO, 80, of Marlboro died Sept. 21 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Hazelton, Pa., he had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Piscataway before moving to Marlboro two years ago. Mr. Todaro was the proprietor of H.T. Sales Co. Inc., New York City, for 35 years before retiring in 1992. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Gussie; a son, Henry Jr. of Manalapan; a daughter, Nancy Perrotta of Marlboro; a sister, Eleanor Butterwick of Lancaster, Pa.; and four grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was offered at St. Gabriel’s Church, followed by interment in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, both of Marlboro.
MICHAEL M. VANTOSH, 83, of Manalapan, died Sept. 22 at home. Born in Hillside, he had lived in North Brunswick before moving to Manalapan a year ago. He was co-owner of Hygrade Sales & Service Co., Passaic, and later was salesman and store manager for Karl S. Sales & Service Co. for 18 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Grace; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Jill of Atlanta; two grandchildren and two nephews. Graveside services were held at Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.
HENRY FRANCIS DRESSEL, 88, of Marlboro, died Sept. 20 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived there before moving to Marlboro 11 years ago. Mr. Dressel was an attorney. He was a graduate of New York University, New York City, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1943 and a juris doctor degree in 1949. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1949; was associated with the corporate law firm Chadbourne, Stanchfield & Levy (and its successors), New York, from 1933 to 1943; had a private law practice in New York City from 1950 to 1999; was a founding partner of the firm Dressel & Altman P.C.; and was a partner in Dressel & Hatab P.C. from 1990 to 1999. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1943 to 1946, rising in rank from ensign to lieutenant. He was a member of the New York State Bar Association; Association of the Bar for the City of New York; American Judicature Society; Justinian Society; International Footprint Association; US. Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association; Phi Delta Phi; and Jonas Clark Fellows. Mr. Dressel was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Rose Marie Valentine Dressel, who died in 2000. He is survived by a daughter, Diana Dressel Fradella of Marlboro; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was offered at St. Gabriel’s Church, Marlboro, followed by interment in Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village, N.Y.
