VIVIAN (née STOREY) TAYLOR, 79, of Freehold died Sept. 22 at Bartley Health Care Nursing & Rehabilitation, Jackson. Born in Freehold, she was a lifelong resident. She served as deputy municipal clerk for the borough of Freehold from 1954 to 1967 and as municipal clerk from 1967 until her retirement in 1993. Before her service in the borough, she had been employed by the Rural Electrification Administration for 13 years. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph V. Storey, in 1996; and two sisters, Patricia Jones in 1976 and Naomi Orren in 1989. She is survived by a son, William A. of Freehold; a brother, James H. Storey; three cousins, Betty L. Teague of Matawan, Louis W. Tovey of New York, and Kathleen Freeman of Middletown; and family friend Paul D. Florczak of Freehold. Interment

ELEANOR S. YOUNG, 94, of Freehold Township, died Sept. 22 at Bartley Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Jackson. Born in Elizabeth, she lived in New York City before moving to Freehold Township more than 30 years ago. She was a clerk for the F.W. Woolworth department store in New York City before her retirement. Funeral arrangements were private.
SCOTT B. WHEELER, 42, of Houston, Texas, died Sept. 16 at home. Born in Long Branch, he had lived in Freehold before moving to Houston 20 years ago. Mr. Wheeler was a truck driver for Consolidated Freight Co. He was a 1978 graduate of Freehold Regional High School. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Allen H. Willis; and a sister, Estelle Wheeler Briscoe. Mr. Wheeler is survived by his wife, Regina Wheeler; a son, Scott Brian Augustus Wheeler, and a daughter, Amber Nicole Wheeler, both of Houston; his mother, Augustine F. Willis of Freehold; his father, Samuel T. Wheeler of Long Branch; a brother, Samuel T. Wheeler Jr. of Miami; and many other relatives and friends.
MARIE T. GOETZ, 73, of Freehold Township, formerly of Old Bridge, died Sept. 23 at Bartley Health Care Nursing & Rehabilitation, Jackson. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she lived in Old Bridge for 30 years before moving to Freehold 12 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. She was predeceased by her husband, William, in 1977. Surviving are three sons, Donald of Collegeville, Pa., William Jr. of Old Bridge, and Paul of Freehold; two daughters, Theresa of Lanoka Harbor and Bernadette of Freehold; a brother, Robert Walsh of Boca Raton, Fla.; a sister, Ellen Piro of Manalapan; and 13 grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was offered at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by interment in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
MANUEL J. SAMARIS, 81, of Freehold Township, died Sept. 23 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge Division. Born in Nashua, N.H., he lived in New York City for 15 years and Manalapan for 30 years before moving to Freehold Township eight years ago. He was a bus driver for the Manalapan-Englishtown School District for 10 years. Prior to that he worked as a furrier in New York City for 40 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Liz of Freehold, and George of Freehold Township; a daughter; Yvonne Abatecola of Queens, N.Y.; five sisters; and four grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was offered at St. Paul the Apostle Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, Freehold Township, followed by interment in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown. LEONARD JOSEPH WILLIAMS SR., 68, of Freehold, died Sept. 24 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had been a resident of Freehold for the past 34 years. Mr. Williams was a motorman for the New York City Transit Authority, where he was employed for 35 years before his retirement eight years ago. He was a member of the Transit Workers Union, New York City. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Helen (née McDonald); a son, Leonard J. Jr. of Freehold; a daughter, Margaret Ellis of Jackson; and two grandchildren. Interment
was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
HYMAN DAVIS, 97, of Manalapan, died March 7 at home. Born in Manhattan, he lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan 13 years ago. Prior to his retirement, he was president of D.A.W. Baking in Coney Island, N.Y. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne; and a son, Kenneth. He is survived by two sons, Jerry of East Brunswick and Monroe of State Island, N.Y.; a daughter, Michelle Stipleman of Manalapan; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Interment
was at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin.
SHEILA L. KLEIN, 88, of Hamilton Square, died March 8 at Arcadia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hamilton. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she moved to The Villages, Howell, in 1975, and then to Hamilton Square in 2001. She was a senior stenographer at Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, for 19 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Ladies Guild and Deborah Hadassah at The Villages; and a member of the Howell Senior Center. She was predeceased by her husband, Morris, in 1991. Surviving are two sons, Bernard E. of Boca Raton, Fla., and Steven P. of Old Bridge; a daughter, Sheri Oshinsky of East Windsor; a brother, Harry Caren of University Place, Wash.; three sisters, Pat Charnow of Deerfield Beach, Fla., Clara Rimon of Tel Aviv, Israel, and Ethel Kirkland of Beaufort, S.C.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Rabbi Wayne Siet officiated at the funeral service, which was followed by interment at Freehold Hebrew Cemetery, Freehold.
PATRICIA ANN MALONE, 78, of Bradenton, Fla., died March 8 at Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, Fla., from injuries received in an automobile accident. Born in New York City, she had lived in Staten Island, N.Y., for many years before moving to Freehold. She moved to Bradenton 14 years ago. She was employed at Bell Labs in managerial positions for 37 years, retiring in 1978 as director of employment at Bell Labs, Murray Hill. She was a graduate of Fordham University, New York City. She is survived by four brothers, Richard Malone of Staten Island, Charles Malone of Florham Park, Raymond Malone of Columbus, N.C., and James Malone of Round Rock, Texas; and a sister, Frances Malone of Tryon, N.C. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.
JULIA M. POLGAR PONSOLDT, 89, of Middletown, died March 12 at King James Care Center, Middletown. Born in Roston, N.Y., she resided in Toms River before to moving to Middletown three years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Harrison Ponsoldt, in 1982. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Joyce and Theodore Kenny of Middletown, and Linda O’Neill of Colts Neck; her sister, Ann LaRocca of Manchester; her brother-in-law, Samuel J. Mazzola of Hillsdale; and four grandsons. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Interment
was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River.
