NICHOLAS D. ROBERTELLI, 72, of Keansburg, died March 13 at home. Born in New York City, he lived there before moving to Keansburg 36 years ago. He was employed with Key Tech, Keyport. Prior to that he was a truck driver for Teamster Local No. 707, Long Island, N.Y., for 25 years, retiring in 1978. He was served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Sicily, VT-42. His memberships included the Knickerbocker Knights of Columbus, and the Holy Name Society of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, New York City. He was a founding member of the Italian Teamsters Organization. He is survived by his mother, Angelina Robertelli of Keansburg; his wife of 50 years, Concetta Marzigliano Robertelli of Keansburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Nancy Robertelli of Howell, and James and Darlene Robertelli of Hazlet; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and James Cocuzza, and Valerie and Theodore Gogel, all of Keansburg; his brother, Vincent Robertelli of California; two sisters, Victoria Padovan and Anna Robertelli, both of Plainfield; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. MARGARET A. STANTON, 96, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died March 13 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New York City, she lived in Keyport for 18 years before moving to Morganville four years ago. She worked for ABC Freight, New York City, for 14 years before her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, John J.; and two brothers, Frank and Owen Sherry. She is survived by a niece, Ann Weldon of Morganville; a nephew, Owen "Sonny" Sherry of Neptune; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and many great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery, Queens, N.Y.
JOSEPH R. FRITSCHE SR., 62, of North Brunswick died March 11 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Perth Amboy, he resided in the Fords section of Woodbridge before moving to North Brunswick 39 years ago. He was a purchasing agent for the Middlesex County Utility Authority and the Middlesex County Improvement Authority, as well as a certified New Jersey purchasing agent. Prior to that, he worked as vice president of operations for H & H Provisions, Somerset, for more than 35 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, North Brunswick. Very active politically, he was a North Brunswick Township councilman for nine years, president of the North Brunswick Democratic Club, a Middlesex County committeeman, and a member of the North Brunswick Planning Board, recreation committee, Heritage Day committee, and library board. He was named the Kiwanis’ "Man of the Year" in the 1980s, and was a member of the North Brunswick Lions Club and Knights of Columbus Council No. 11378, North Brunswick. His community activities included serving as president of the John Adams School PTA, and coaching Little League. He was a 30-year member of the North Brunswick adult drama group, and a member of the North Brunswick Italian American Club. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stone Fritsche of North Brunswick; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph "Jay" R. Jr. and Tracy E. Fritsche of Point Pleasant Beach, and Mark A. and JoAnn Fritsche of North Brunswick; his sister, Barbara Beagle of Manalapan; and two grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church. Entombment was at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. SOPHIE H. WAGNER, 86, of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, died March 14 at Cliffside Health Care, Aberdeen. Born in Perth Amboy, she was a lifelong resident of Cliffwood. She was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Wagner in 1979. She is survived by three sons, Michael T. Wagner of Cliffwood, Carl P. Wagner of Marlboro, and John L. Wagner of Cliffwood; her daughter, Joan J. Vena of Cliffwood; her sister, Jenny Schmanski of South Amboy; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Amboy.
EDNA KIERNICKI, 88, of Keyport, died March 15 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Sayreville, she resided in California until moving to the Keyport-Hazlet area 10 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Kiernicki in 1967; her brother, Edward W. Werenczyk; and her sister, Helen Rufner. She is survived by her sister, Mary Kallaur of Hazlet; two nieces, Kathy Baker of Hazlet, and Judy Montagna of Sayreville; two nephews, William Kallaur of Marlboro, and Ronald Rufner of Freehold; and several great-nieces and -nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment
was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
MARION PAROW, 87, of Freehold Township, died March 15 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in New York City, she had lived in Queens, N.Y., before moving to Freehold Township in 1996. She was employed at Bankers Trust Co., New York City, for 25 years before her retirement in 1975. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert E., who died in 1971. Surviving are two daughters, Jeanette Rotanz of Jackson Heights, N.Y., and Colleen Weill of Freehold Township; two sisters, Clara Kurzweil of Merrimack, N.H., and Dorothy Rogerson of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery, Queens.
SARAH E. "SALLY" LEONARD, 76, of Freehold Township, died March 16 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Farmingdale and lived there until moving to Applewood Estates, Freehold Township, in 1997. She was a waitress at Connie’s restaurant, Farmingdale, for more than 25 years until retiring in 1987. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale, and a past member of the Farmingdale Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Millard; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Kenneth Cook of Jackson; a brother, Charles Woolley of Virginia; a sister, Charlotte Halsey of Wall; and four grandchildren. was at Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
JEAN PONDISH, 64, of Howell, died March 17 at Jackson Healthcare Center, Jackson. Born in Union City, she had lived in Freehold before moving to Howell in 1995. She was a clerk at the Monmouth County Court House, Freehold, before her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, John, who died in 1995. She is survived by a son, John Jr. of North Carolina; three daughters, Denise Allen and Deborah Boyce, both of Old Bridge, and Joan Pondish of Jackson; three sisters, Lorraine Spinelli of Jackson, JoAnn Jaeger of Teaneck and Phyllis Adamo of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Flower Hill Cemetery, North Bergen.
ROBERT L. MYERS, 58, of Freehold Township died March 18 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Englewood, he had lived in Jackson before moving to Freehold Township 14 years ago. He was a plastics supervisor at Keptel, Tinton Falls, until five years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lakewood. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. He was a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers. He is survived by his mother, Elinore L. Myers of Freehold Township; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Patricia Myers of Brick; a nephew; and several aunts and uncles. Interment
was at Fairview Cemetery, Red Bank.
