WONA MARKOW, 59, of Old Bridge, died Dec. 21 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Poland, she had lived in Stockholm, Sweden, before coming to the United States, moving to Old Bridge 18 years ago. She was the owner and operator of Browntown Wine and Liquor, Old Bridge, for 18 years. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Mikael; two sons, Daniel of Wayne and Tommy of Old Bridge; her mother, Katherine Baranski of Old Bridge; and a brother, Wieslaw Baranski of Manalapan. Cremation services were private.
ANNE SERA, 62, of Freehold Township, died Dec. 22 at home. Mrs. Sera was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and moved to Freehold Township in 1960. She was an administrative assistant at Bellcore and then for Telecordia Technologies, Piscataway, before becoming disabled in September. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Freehold Township. Mrs. Sera is survived by her husband, John; a son, John, and two daughters, Laura and Dawn, all of Freehold Township; and a brother, Paul Lalis of Ocean Grove. Funeral services were held at Hope Lutheran Church, followed by interment at Adelphia Cemetery, Adelphia section of Howell.
JAMES C. WALKER SR., 63, of West Long Branch, died Dec. 23 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in New York, he had lived in West Long Branch since 1952. Mr. Walker was the owner and operator of the Eatontown Amoco Service Station from 1976 to 1986. He also worked for Coast Office Supply, Shrewsbury, for eight years, and was a security guard at Monmouth Park race track, Oceanport, for 15 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a communicant of St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch, where he was a member of the choir for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Red Bank Barbershop Quartet. Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lenora "Jeanne" DeSantis Walker; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Christine Walker of Jewette City, Conn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Stephen Ferraro of Middletown; a brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Joanne Walker of Eatontown; a sister, Carolyn Walker of Colts Neck; three grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Dorothy C. DeSantis of Long Branch; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Susan DeSantis of Middletown; four nephews; and one niece. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Jerome Church, followed by interment at Mount Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch.
MARGARET "PEGGY" M. CLARK of Old Bridge, died Dec. 24. Born in Harrison, she had lived there and in Newark before moving to Old Bridge 42 years ago. She was office manager for Congregation Beth Ohr, Old Bridge, for more than 20 years, retiring in 1994, and previously had been an executive secretary at RCA, Harrison. She was a past Republican county committeewoman. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Francis M.; a son, Mark E. of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Denise Edgeworth of Freehold; four sisters, Ann Walsh of Toms River, Veronica Fulcher of North Arlington, Kathleen Roman of Closter and Helen Dolan of Red Bank; and five grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, South Brunswick. ANGELINA FLORA, 95, of Port St. John, Fla., formerly of Freehold Township, died Dec. 24 at home. Born in Paterson, she had lived in Freehold Township before moving to Florida in 1998. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, Joseph, in 1997. Surviving are four sons, Anthony G. of Freehold Township, Louis of Point Pleasant, Joseph Jr. of Jackson and George of Freehold Township; three daughters, Rose Dresser of Scotch Plains, Mary Nagy of Port St. John and Jenevieve Nikitin, with whom she lived in Port St. John; a brother, George Damato of New Gretna; a sister, Antoinette Stisi of North Arlington; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Lakewood, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. WILLETTA H. HEMPHILL, 97, of Manasquan, died Dec. 24 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Freehold, she lived there for most of her life. She was formerly employed at ShopRite, Freehold Township. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick, in 1977; and a daughter, June McCann, in 1964. Surviving are two daughters, Margaret A. DiBenedetto of Freehold Township and Elizabeth Bresnahan of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a stepbrother; four stepsisters; 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. LYNN WEISS, 69, of Monroe, died Dec. 24 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived in Freehold for 18 years before moving to Monroe 14 years ago. She was a real estate agent for 12 years with ERA Resale Professionals/Allen and Stultz, Monroe. She is survived by a son, Jack of Shasta Lake, Calif.; a daughter, Carolee Vavra of Point Pleasant; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan, followed by interment at New Montefiore Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y.
RICHARD VINCENT NAPOLIELLO SR., 63, of Colts Neck died Dec. 27 at New York University Hospital, New York City. Born in Newark, he had lived in East Orange before moving to Colts Neck in 1968. He was the owner, founder and president of Raceway Park, Old Bridge, since 1962. He was a 1961 graduate of Guilford College, Greensboro, N.C. He was predeceased by his father, Vincent A. Sr., and a brother, Vincent A. Jr. He is survived by his mother, Katherine Napoliello of Bay Head; four sons, Richard Jr., Michael, James and Robert, all of Colts Neck; a daughter, Laura Marie Napoliello of Colts Neck; and four grandchildren.
HELEN SUYDAM (nee ZIPPERICH), 70, of Marlboro died Dec. 27 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. she had lived in Old Bridge before moving to Marlboro 51 years ago. Mrs. Suydam was a homemaker. She was a member of the Robertsville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Marlboro. She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin, who died in 1986. Surviving are two sons, Marvin Suydam of Millstone and Chris Suydam of Marlboro; two daughters, Linda Lawnik of Sayreville and Wendy Leder of Marlboro; and 12 grandchildren. The Rev. Dr. Joseph Douglas of Sayrewoods Bible Church, Old Bridge, officiated at the funeral service. MARK T. LAMBERSON, 38, of Jackson died Dec. 31 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in New Brunswick, he had lived in the Robertsville section of Marlboro before moving to Jackson 14 years ago. Mr. Lamberson was a mechanic at Robinson’s Garage, Brick. He was predeceased by his father, Millard "Bud" Lamberson, who died in 1996. He is survived by his mother, Esther Wood Lamberson of Jackson; a son, Travis of the Morganville section of Marlboro; a brother, Wayne of Tuckerton; three sisters, JoAnn Boyce of Underhill, Vt., Nancy Falco of Millstone and Wendy Prior of Island Heights; several nieces and nephews; and four grandnieces.
