JOHN CARSCADDEN, 90, of Middletown died Nov. 18 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, he resided there 87 years; before moving to Scotch Plains and then Middletown. He was a bus driver at Public Service Transit for 30 years, retiring in 1974. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Carscadden, in 1999; his daughter, Catherine Carscadden, in 1965; four brothers; and a sister. He is survived by his son, John Carscadden of Holmdel; two brothers, Frank Carscadden of Scotch Plains, and Kenneth Carscadden of Arizona; two sisters, Doris Smith of Bloomfield, and Eleanor Cosgrove of Whiting; and four grandchildren. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

MILDRED RIZZO, 88, of Middletown died Nov. 15 at Holmdel Convalescent Center. Born in New York City, she lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., for 84 years prior to moving to Middletown four years ago. She was a legal secretary at Paul-Weiss and Rifkind, New York City, where she worked for 38 years before her retirement. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Athanasius Roman Catholic Church, Brooklyn, and attended daily Mass for 38 years at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York City. She was predeceased by her husband, Dante Rizzo, in 1973. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul L. and Rose Rizzo of Manahawkin; her daughter and son-in-law, Pat A. and Robert Raffellini of Middletown; her sister, Ann Alfano of Amityville, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Burial was at Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y.

JULIA MAE CHERDRON PURDY, 96, of Hazlet died Nov. 18 at Regency Park Nursing Center. Born in Jamaica, N.Y., she lived in Long Island, N.Y., and New Hampshire before moving to Hazlet 12 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond B. Purdy. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Joan E. Purdy of Hazlet; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three nieces; and one nephew. Memorial donations may be made to Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 60 Maple Place, Keyport 07735; or Jesus The Lord Roman Catholic Church, 123 Broad St., Keyport, 07735.

WILLIAM P. GREAUX, 52, of Hazlet died Nov. 20 at home. Born in Perth Amboy, he lived in Middletown for 24 years before moving to Hazlet two years ago. Mr. Greaux was a salesman at Sports Authority, West Long Branch, for the past five years. Prior to that, he worked at Hess, Woodbridge, and Revlon, Edison. He was a member of Clean Ocean Action and the Littoral Society, both Sandy Hook; and the Hi-Mar Striper Club. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Marybeth, his son, and daughter, Lauren Greaux and William E. Greaux, all of Hazlet; his brother, Ronald Greaux of Freehold; his nephew; and several nieces. A funeral liturgy was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

JACQUELINE KROEPER, 71, of Middletown died Nov. 18 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Hazlet before moving to Middletown in 1963. She worked at Paramount Answering Service, Belford section of Middletown, for 11 years, retiring in 1999. She was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, North Middletown. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, where she was a former president and a member of its Altar Rosary Society. She ran Thursday night Bingo at the church. She is survived by her husband, Nicholas Kroeper of Middletown; four sons, Nicholas Kroeper III of Plano, Texas, Kurt Kroeper of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, and Kevin Kroeper and Sean Kroeper, both of Middletown; two daughters, Deborah Kroeper and Diane Young, both of Middletown; and 12 grandchildren. Visitation will be Nov. 20 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering will be held Nov. 21 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral liturgy at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth.

ELIZABETH CHANNON BARD FARRINGTON, 77, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and formerly Summit, died Nov. 10 at Blythe House, Tinton Falls. She was born in Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Farrington was a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church, Summit, for more than 50 years. She was a member of Overlook Hospital Twig No. 48, Summit, and the Junior League of Summit. She was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Bard. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Marilyn Farrington of Fredericksburg, Va.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Dennis Novak of the Lincroft section of Middletown, and Melinda and Robert Kocis of Greer, S.C.; two brothers, Roy B. Bard Jr. of Park Ridge, Ill., and James Bard of Meeker, Colo.; her sister, Kay B. Gundlach of Pittsboro, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held Nov. 23 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Episcopal Church, Summit. Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Church Remembrance Fund, 31 Woodland Ave., Summit 07901; or Summit Speech School, 705 Central Ave., New Providence 07974.

ANTHONY LUCANTE SR., 90, of Manalapan died Nov. 1 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Newark, he resided there before moving to Manalapan 27 years ago. He was an auto mechanic at Casey’s Trucking Co., Newark, retiring in 1978. Prior to that, he was a welder for seven years at the Federal Shipyard, Jersey City. He was predeceased by his wife, Natalie Lucante, in 1969; and a son, Jerry Lucante, in 1993. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Arlene Lucante Jr. of Brick, Joseph and Sandralee Lucante of Courtland, Ohio, and Vincent and Susan Lucante of Howell; a daughter and son-in-law, Joanna and Jimmy Tedesco of Manalapan; three brothers, Jimmy Lucante of Arizona, Natale Lucante of Freehold Township, and Ralph Lucante of Bayville; two sisters, Anna Lucante and Helen Lucante; and five grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Englishtown. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

JOSEPH E. SCHEICK, 89, of the Belford section of Middletown, died Nov. 11 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, he lived in Irvington before moving to Belford in 1978. He was employed at Newark Hall of Records, retiring at age 67. Prior to that, he was an electrical engineer at Westons, Newark. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft section of Middletown, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and a Eucharistic Minister and lecturer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Vince Lombardi Council, Leonardo section of Middletown; a past grand knight of the Bishop Wigger Council, Irvington; and a past district deputy, as well as a fourth degree knight. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and George Scheick. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene Scheick of Belford; a son, William Scheick of Austin, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores and Robert Barton of Coral Springs, Fla., and Denise and William Hibell of Belford; two brothers, Theodore Scheick of Irvington and Henry Scheick of Brick; a sister, Anne Dorsey of Runnemede; and seven grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Entombment was at Fair View Mausoleum, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 26 Leonardville Road, New Monmouth, 07748.

EUGENE P. BEAGEN, 76, of Hazlet died Nov. 10 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, he resided in the Port Monmouth and Leonardo sections of Middletown prior to moving to Hazlet three years ago. Mr. Beagen was a retired traffic operator at Hatco Chemical, Fords, for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was predeceased by three sisters, Marie Prepiak, Margaret Pello and Julia Kluin; and a brother, Matthew Beagen. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Quinn Beagen; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Crimaldi of Wall Township, and Colleen and Michael Carlo of the Lincroft section of Middletown; his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Karen Beagen of Hazlet; three brothers, Michael Beagen of Freehold, Joseph Beagen of Pasadena, Texas, and Peter Beagen of Red Bank; two sisters, Patricia Davis of New Port Richey, Fla., and Katherine Beagen of Ocean Grove; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Visitation will be Nov. 13 from 4-7 p.m., and a funeral gathering at 6:30 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

EILEEN C. BURKE, 79, of Rumson died Nov. 9 at home. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Middletown prior to moving to Rumson in 1972. She worked part-time in newspaper advertising sales. Prior to that, she was a secretary at NBC, New York City, before marriage. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas R. Burke, in 1991; her sister, Marie Bowen; and her brothers, John, Joseph, Walter and Frank Gavin. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia M. Cummings of Rumson; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Susan Cummings of Rumson; and three granddaughters. A funeral gathering will be Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to Visiting Nurse Association of New Jersey Hospice, c/o Development Office, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank 07701.
