DOROTHY MARIE GRACE, 93, of Hazlet died July 26 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Newark, she lived in Middletown for 28 years prior to moving to Hazlet two months ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband, William Grace in 1986. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Betty Grace of Parrish, Fla.; her daughter and son-in-law, Florence and James Watson Schertz of the Belford section of Middletown; 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
FRANK MacARTHUR, 74, of Union Beach died July 29 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Scranton, Pa., he was a lifelong resident of Union Beach. He was a clerk/manufacturer at Lily Tulip, Holmdel, for 25 years, retiring in 1994. Prior to that, he worked at Grand Union, Matawan, for 18 years. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Luciane of Hazlet; and his aunt, Joyce Bullette of Bloomfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport.
WILLIAM J. SAKOWSKI SR., 90, of Hazlet died July 29 at home. He was born in New York City. He was employed at National Lead, Sayreville, for 20 years, retiring in 1985. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. he was predeceased by a brother, John Sakowski, in January. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Poppo Sakowski of Hazlet; his son, William J. Sakowski Jr. of Matawan; his daughter, Barbara Johnson-Yaniak of Matawan; a brother, Stanley Sakowski of Neptune; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Memorial donations may be made to VNA of Central Jersey, Attn. ANNE M. DEMAREST, 92, of Union Beach died July 31 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in New York City, she lived in the Union Beach and Keyport areas for several years. She was a health and beauty aids manager at Pathmark, Hazlet, retiring in 1972. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a member of both the Keyport and Hazlet senior clubs. She was predeceased by her husband, John W. Demarest, in 1965. She is survived by her daughter, Sally Graham of Hampstead, N.C.; her son, Jay W. Demarest of Middletown; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
CHRISTINE MARIE PARKER McCARREN, 97, of Matawan died July 31 at the Madison Care Center, Matawan. Born in Hoboken, she lived in Newark, and Old Bridge for 30 years prior to moving to Matawan. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel J. McCarren, in 1983. She is survived by her daughter, Julia Coveney of Old Bridge; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial was at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
ROBERT L. PERRY SR., 60, of Laurence Harbor died Aug. 1 at home. Born in Spotswood, he lived there prior to moving to Laurence Harbor 30 years ago. He was a retired diesel mechanic who had worked at Amerada Hess, Perth Amboy, for 36 years. He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Laurence Harbor. He was a charter member of Pappy Perry Rod and Gun Club, Laurence Harbor, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Perry in 1996. He is survived by his companion, Linda S. Gage of Morgan; two daughters, Debra J. Perry of Laurence Harbor, and Nora L. Schmitz of Old Bridge; his son, Robert L. Perry Jr. of Hazlet; four brothers, Earl Perry of Spotswood, Raymond Perry of Monroe, James Perry of Piscataway, and Ronald Perry of Spotswood; three sisters, Joyce Ponzio of Windsor, Ruth Ward of Hightstown, and Bernice Bennett of Florida; and six grandchildren. BASIL J. PLASTERAS, 56, of West Long Branch died Aug. 1 at home. Born in Long Branch, he resided in West Long Branch for the past 30 years. He was the proprietor of Squire’s Pub, West Long Branch, for 28 years, retiring five years ago. He was an honorary fire chief of the West Long Branch Fire Company No. 1, and an honorary member of the West Long Branch PBA Local No. 141. He was a commissioner for the New Jersey Racing Commission, as well as chairman of the Monmouth Health Care Foundation at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was also a board member of the Rainbow Foundation, and a former board member of the Ronald McDonald House, Long Branch. He was predeceased by his parents, James G. and Marguerite Gatta Plasteras; a brother, George Plasteras; and a sister, Virginia Matouk. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ann Scharber Plasteras of West Long Branch; two sons, James G. Plasteras of West Long Branch, and George M. Plasteras of Delaware; two daughters, Vanessa C. Plasteras and Caroline A. Plasteras, both of West Long Branch; a brother, James G. Plasteras of Eatontown; two sisters, Alexandra Diglio of West Long Branch, and Margo Hooker of Middletown; his mother-in-law, Dolores Scharber of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Interment

FRANK V. EVALDI, 73, of Avondale, Ariz., formerly of the Morgan section of Sayreville, died July 17 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Ollie Lauer Evaldi; three sons, John of the Parlin section of Sayreville, Frank D. of Wake Forest, N.C., and Mark E. of Pocono Lake, Pa.; two daughters, Sandra Shaver of New Brunswick and Michele Horsch of East Brunswick; a sister, Joan Dekis of Matawan; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Interment
was in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.
OSIA K. CSASZAR, 74, of Hazlet died July 21 at home. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a high school teacher by the State of New Jersey. She earned a master’s degree from Columbia University Teachers College, New York City, and worked as a teacher in New York and New Jersey. Surviving are her husband, William G. Csaszar; a daughter, Claudette Csaszar-Gazic of Oro Valley, Ariz.; a son, Andrew M. Csaszar of the Somerset section of Franklin; a brother, Gus Kostos of Great Neck, N.Y.; a sister, Alexandra Kostos of Syosset, N.Y; and two grandsons. Services were at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Cremation was private.
ROBERT K. HALLORAN JR., 72, of Hazlet died July 19 in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was employed as a Wall Street analyst. He was a member and past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus, Aberdeen. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was an American Legion member. Surviving are his wife, Alice Halloran; a son, Robert K. Halloran III of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Alicia Nossov of Raleigh, N.C., and Regina Kolodziej of Tewksbury; and six grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Holy Family Church, Union Beach. Cremation was private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Aberdeen.
