JENNIE J. TEDESCO, 95, of Aberdeen and Hightstown died June 24 at her daughter’s home in Aberdeen. Born in Long Island, N.Y., she lived there prior to moving to Hightstown. She and her husband were lifelong farmers in Long Island and Hightstown. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Hightstown. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Tedesco, in 1971. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dominick and Suzzane Tedesco of Hightstown, Joseph and Frances Tedesco of Lindenhurst, N.Y., and Daniel and Theresa Tedesco of Manalapan; two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Gacovino of Port Richey, Fla., and Rose and Fiorendo Sigismondi of Aberdeen; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment
was at Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick.
MARGARET M. McCARTY FINLEY, 92, of Holmdel died June 25 at Holmdel Convalescent Center. Born in Philadelphia, she lived in New York, Florida and Keyport prior to moving to Holmdel 10 years ago. She was a retired actuarial at Met Life, New York City. She was predeceased by her husband, James J. Finley, in 1966; and a son, the Rev. Casimir J. Finley OSB, in 1987. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John J. and Joan Finley of Middletown, Joseph C. and Virginia Finley of Middletown, and Patrick J. and RoseMary Finley of Spring, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia M. and Gerald V. Henwood of Marlboro; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment
was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Orange.
JAYMIE ALEXANDER LAMANTIA, 2, of Howell died June 25 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Jaymie was born in New Brunswick. He is survived by his parents, Michael S. and Denise (née Lewandowski) Lamantia; two brothers, Michael and Ryan; his paternal grandparents, Frank and Barbara Lamantia of Manalapan; his maternal grandparents, Ken and Betty Lewandowski of Matawan; his great-grandmother, Helen Lewandowski of Sayreville; and his aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Farmingdale, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. ANTHONY "NINO" MELE SR., 75, of Hazlet died June 25 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in Highland Park before moving to Hazlet 38 years ago. He was an engraver for his family’s business for 25 years, retiring in 1972. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 321, Union Beach. He was predeceased by a brother, Vito Mele in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Przemielewski-Mele of Hazlet; three sons, Anthony R. Mele Jr. of Hazlet, Richard G. Mele of Arizona, and Mike Moriarty of Hazlet; his brother, Vincent Mele of Little Egg Harbor; and two grandsons. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Church, Keyport. Interment
was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
THOMAS A. HAYDEN SR., 78, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown died June 30 at home. Born in New York City, he lived in Middletown for 52 years. He was a member of the Metal Lathers Union, Local No. 43, New York, for 45 years, retiring in 1988. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Mae Lawless Hayden in 1987. He is survived by three sons, Thomas Hayden Jr. and Brian Hayden, both of Port Monmouth, and John Hayden of Albrightsville, Pa.; four daughters, Susan Eastmond of Tinton Falls, Patricia Brady of Jackson, Anna Mae Hayden of South Riding, Va., and Nancy McConville of the River Plaza section of Middletown; two brothers, William Hayden of Port Monmouth, and Vincent Hayden of Prattsville, N.Y.; two sisters, Elizabeth Flynn of Emerson, and Eleanor Zarkivach of Keyport; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral gathering will be July 3 at 9:30 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
FRED J. SVENSON SR., 59, of the Belford section of Middletown died June 21 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Irvington, he lived there prior to moving to Belford 32 years ago. He was a self-employed painter and owner of Fred’s Painting for 32 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-69. His activities included spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Irene Oswin Svenson of Belford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Kim Svenson Jr. of Middletown, and Robert and Robyn Svenson of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown; two daughters and one son-in-law, Vicky and Rich Tremper of Hazlet, and Susan Svenson of Belford; his brother, Charles Svenson of Toms River; his sister, Carolyn Steele of Highlands; and eight grandchildren. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
KENNETH S. McCLEASTER, 70, of Middletown died June 24 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Harrisburg, Pa., he lived in Keyport prior to moving to Middletown 46 years ago. He was a boat builder at Olsen Boat Works, Keyport, for 45 years, retiring in 1996. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Hazlet. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank McCleaster Jr.; and a son, James McCleaster. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alice Chandler McCleaster of Middletown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Ginette McCleaster of Jefferson Township, and Robert and Christine McCleaster of Matawan; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sandy McCleaster of Kearny; and five grandchildren. A funeral service was held at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Hazlet. Burial was at Shoreland Memorial Park, Hazlet. AGNES V. CLINTON, 88, of Hazlet died June 22 at Regency Park Nursing Home, Hazlet. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Old Bridge and Jersey City prior to moving to Hazlet several years ago. She was a purchasing agent at St. Francis Community Health Center, Jersey City, for 15 years, retiring in 1984. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, James J. Clinton in 1989; and her sister, Jennie Arzol this year. She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Margaret Clinton of Freehold, and James J. Clinton Jr. of Union Beach; her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Rita Zimmerman of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy will be offered June 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
MARGARET MEDOLLA, 87, of Brick died June 21 at Brick Hospital. Born in Centerville, she resided in Keyport prior to moving to Brick seven years ago. She was a seamstress at Komars Inc., Keansburg, for 33 years, retiring in 1986. She was a communicant of and member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Medolla in 1982; her son, Robert Medolla in 1962; and two brothers, John and Jerry Nappi. She is survived by four sons, Ralph Medolla of Houston; Niel Medolla of Mays Landing; John Medolla of Toronto; and Jerry Medolla of Brick; three brothers, Anthony Nappi of Manchester, Michael Nappi of Tinton Falls, and Anniello Nappi of Whiting; her sister, Immaculate Ziegler of Keyport; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be June 26 at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment
will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
