EDWARD L. STOVER, 68 of Toms River died May 25 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Middletown most of his life, relocating to Toms River four years ago. He was self-employed contractor and owner of Atlantic Coast Home Improvement, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Middletown Elks. He was predeceased by his wife, Elsie Stover in 1991; and his grandson, David Vanderbilt. He is survived by six daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Harold Stover of Middletown, Diane and Wayne Zambor of Jackson, Cathy and Michael Dwyer of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, Donna and Eric Nelson of the Belford section of Middletown, Denise and Michael Alfano of Middletown, and Julie and Douglas Vanderbilt of Middletown; three brothers, Robert Stover of Manahawkin, George Stover of Toms River, and Arthur Stover of Middletown; his special friend, Barbara Fisler of Belford; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Interment
was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
EVELYN FERRARI DESIDERIO, 93, of the Leonardo section of Middletown died May 22 at The King James Care Center, Middletown. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived there before moving to Leonardo four years ago. She was a retired social worker. She also attended the Juilliard School, New York City, and taught piano in Brooklyn. She was a communicant of and organist for Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Brooklyn. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Desiderio, in 1987; her daughter, Diane Desiderio, in 1997; and her sister, Caroline Avallone, in 2001. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Dorothy Desiderio of Leonardo; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. Burial was at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo.
ALFRED CHRIS FINKBONHER, 53, of Middletown died May 24 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Honesdale, Pa., he lived in Barnegat prior to moving to Middletown 19 years ago. He was a printing production supervisor for Master Consulting PA, Matawan, since 1996. He was also the owner of TAMA Printing, Red Bank, from 1990-96, and worked for T & M Associates, Middletown, from 1972-89. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, Marlboro, and the North Shore Antique Car Club. He was predeceased by his father, Alfred Finkbonher. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janet Jacobsen Finkbonher of Middletown; three daughters, Dawn Marie, Erin Lynn and Amy Jean Finkbonher, all of Middletown; his mother, Ruth Finkbonher of Keansburg; his sister, Donna M. Kratz of Severn, Md.; and two nieces.
ROBERT F. HUNT SR., 85, of Middletown died May 20 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in New Haven, Conn., he lived in Bergenfield and Hazlet prior to moving to Middletown one and a half years ago. He was a manager at Prudential Insurance Co., Newark and Holmdel, for more than 20 years, retiring in 1984. He served with the U.S. Army and Air Force during World War II. He was a member of and usher at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. He was also a member of the church’s Nocturnal Adoration and St. Vincent DePaul Society, and assisted with its basketball league and carnival. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Peppercorn Hunt of Middletown; two daughters, Sandra Hunt of Chicago, and Nancy Fornarotto of Bloomfield; three sons, Robert F. Hunt Jr. of Los Angeles, Peter J. Hunt of New York City, and Anthony Hunt of Dunellen; three brothers, William Hunt, George Hunt and Vincent Hunt; a sister, Marguerite Hunt; and eight grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 121 Habitat St., Americus, GA 31709-3498.
PETER V. DROBISH, 82, of Middletown died May 19 at home. Born in Scranton, Pa., he was a Middletown resident since 1957, and retired to Edgewater, Fla., 10 years ago. He was a construction laborer for Mahoney-Troast Construction Co., Clifton, for 32 years, retiring 21 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. His memberships included the Laborers Local Union No. 72, Perth Amboy, and Association of Concerned Taxpayers, Middletown. He was predeceased by a son, Richard P. Drobish in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Mary Okunak Drobish of Middletown; his son, Robert F. Drobish of Middletown; his daughter, Rosemarie Wieczerzak of Brick Township; his sister, Irene Potts of Kearny; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be May 22 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering will be May 23 at 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
ANGELINA CAPPUCCIO, 81, of the Belford section of Middletown died May 17 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Italy, she lived in Elizabeth prior to moving to Belford 10 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas Cappuccio in 1991. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Carol Cappuccio of Marquette, Mich., Anthony and Mary Cappuccio of Berkeley Heights, and Ben and Patricia Cappuccio of Middletown; her daughter, Rita Cappuccio O’Malley of Belford; her sister, Rose Lauatola of Port St. Lucia West, Fla.; her brother, Antonio Renna of Keansburg; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Entombment was at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge.
THERESA ANN BOVA SKERL of Long Branch died May 12 at the Center for Hospice Care at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, she was a lifelong resident. She was a parishioner at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. She was predeceased by a brother, Gregory Bova, in 1993. She is survived by her husband, Stanley J. Skerl of Long Branch; her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Edie Skerl of Ocean Township; her daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Joseph Renzella of Neptune City; four brothers, Ralph Bova of Scottsdale, Ariz., Peter Bova and Joseph Bova, both of Oceanport, and Paul Bova of Middletown; and a sister, Frances Cartier of Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Entombment was at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. CAROLINE PETERSON, 79, of Keyport died May 12 at the Holmdel Convalescent Center. Born in Nutley, she resided in Union Beach before moving to Keyport four years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, William Peterson, in 1984; and her son, William G. Peterson, in 1995. She is survived by her brother, Robert Monath of Columbus, Ohio, and her niece, Marion Grady of Weatherford, Texas. Interment

HELEN V. BILLINGS LUKER, 88, of Middletown died May 10 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Shrewsbury, she lived in Red Bank and Shrewsbury prior to moving to Middletown 13 years ago. She was an assembly worker for Red Bank Clothing for 22 years, retiring in 1976. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett Luker in January. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
KATHLEEN MARIE COVERT, 88, of the Leonardo section of Middletown, died May 18 at home. Born in Washington Heights, N.Y., she lived in the West Keansburg section of Hazlet before moving to Leonardo 17 years ago. She was a secretary for Raritan High School, Hazlet, for 17 years, retiring in 1977. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Bergen Covert in 1969. She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Ann Reppert of the Belford section of Middletown, Christine and Ralph Ronson of Belford, Kathleen and George Schildknecht of Point Pleasant, and Theresa Lau of Leonardo; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
